Carrie Underwood arrived at the 45th Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday night in Nashville, Tennessee looking gorgeous in a Reem Acra gold gown. It was stunning and it fit her fabulously…but she didn’t have it on long.
The minute she stepped off the red carpet and entered the Bridgestone Arena to prepare for her hosting duties, Carrie was already stepping into a whole other look. It was the first of ten that she would wear for the duration of the show.
For one of her first looks, Carrie wore a Georges Chakra asymmetric metallic embellished coral dress featuring a dragging chiffon train on the side. This was an interesting piece on the model featured during the Spring/Summer 2011 Haute Couture presentations, but it looked way too big on Carrie. The whole design of the dress was kind of lost on her, it appeared to be two sizes bigger than what she should be wearing.
During a segment involving…dolls, Carrie wore a layered asymmetric white embellished cocktail dress from the Fall/Winter 2009 Haute Couture collection by Cengiz Abazoğlu. It sort of looked like she was wrapped in a very expensive napkin. Oddly, I like it. On her feet were a ridiculously cool pair of white, black, and silver “Glamourous” sandals by Ryan Haber.
Carrie accessorized with 18kt yellow gold Affinity Link Earrings with cut Diamonds and micro pave by Royal Asscher and white satin cuff with black ribbon by Cuffs Couture.
On her ears were a pair of black onyx and diamond drop earrings from Sutra.
On her feet were black platform slingback sandals by Stuart Weitzman.
Obviously Miss Piggy totally up-staged Carrie (she can’t really help it that she’s so fabulous), but I still think this was a cute look for Carrie. I loved the crystal embellished Sergio Rossi satin “Cachet” pumps she wore, although I know for a fact this shoe is available in a more complimentary color for that dress.
Carrie wore a Roberto de Villacis dress to the BMI Country Awards the night before, but selected one of his designs again for the CMA ceremony. She was donned in a bronze sequined cocktail dress at one point during the show, and kept the glittery moment going with a pair of gold sparkling “Private” sandals by Jimmy Choo.
Even with all that detail, she still found space to accessorize a little bit. Carrie wore a yellow gold 18kt ‘Stars of Africa’ full sapphire globe with floating diamonds necklace by Royal Asscher which filled some space in that plunging neckline.
Her Victor Velyan earrings featured chrome diopside, diamonds, emeralds, and pink and yellow sapphires. Whoa.
When Carrie hit the stage in this insane chain-embellished “Rock ‘n Roll” dress by Mandalay, I couldn’t help thinking I had seen Britney Spears in something similar. While I love her Jimmy Choo “Kyrle” ankle boots, I don’t think they really looked right with the dress.
Carrie matched the chain details of her dress with sapphire, blackened gold, onyx and diamond tassel earrings by Sutra.
