Salma Hayek’s European “Puss In Boots” Style Tour

You thought the promotional tour for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ was hectic, but they could really go toe-to-toe with Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas (not pictured) who have been promoting their film “Puss In Boots” nearly non-stop for over two months.

Hitting fourteen cities in the US and Europe since September; Salma and Antonio have brought DreamWorks spin-off of the “Shrek” series everywhere from Moscow to Los Angeles. Salma has had a fashion whirlwind and for every hit, there was definitely a miss. After a minor break she joined her co-star to finish their promo tour earlier this month. First stop? Mexico City.

On November 15th, Salma had attended the photocall in Mexico earlier wearing a beautiful blue dress by Bottega Veneta, but somehow went more conservative for the evening premiere. Salma hit the red carpet at the Cinemex Antara Polanco wearing a black blazer and gold lamé tee from the Resort 2012 collection by Gucci that she paired with a Spring/Summer 2012 flared pencil skirt by Yves Saint Laurent.

The obvious texture differences between the jacket and skirt were the first things to throw off the look for me. The second being the oddly layered black beaded necklace. Between the necklace, shiny top and feathered hair –  it’s wonder she’s not going to a disco.

For me, the only thing really working was her gold and black suede platform peep toe sandals with a chain t-strap from Gucci‘s Spring/Summer 2012 line.

The very next day Salma was in Buenos Aires, Argentina for the next photocall and premiere. She donned a black suit with a pink halter top early in the day before changing into a white Giambattista Valli belted silk dress for the premiere at the Village Recoleta cinema. | continue reading..

Charlize Theron in Gucci | IFP’s 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards

Charlize Theron was a vision last night at the 2011 Gotham Independent Film Awards. The “Young Adult” actress arrived at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City wearing a white and black slinky dress from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection by Gucci.

How incredible does she look in this?

I love how the dress hangs from her frame along with all the gold detailing. In addition to the faux belt made of multiple gold chains, Charlize accessorized with layered necklaces that fit perfectly in the extreme plunging neckline. I’m loving the pulls to the halter neck that she left hanging in front!

The dress was heavy and overwhelming on the catwalk model, but it looks like it was made for Charlize’s statuesque curvy figure.

Her short blonde hair was piled up high with a thin black headband keeping it off her face, and she added a burst of color with a shocking fuchsia lip color.

Charlize polished off her look with strappy gold sandals and a black and gold Alexander McQueen skull clutch.

“Breakthrough Actress” winner Felicity Jones accepted the award for her role in “Like Crazy” tonight at the 2011 Gotham Independent Film Awards wearing Proenza Schouler.

The 28-year-old English actress wore a look from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection for the second time, this time she selected the sea-foam sleeveless cocktail dress with a belted waist and button details at the skirt. She was previously seen in a top and skirt from the line earlier this month.

I love the dress, and the color on her. Those subtle little details really catch the eye, such as the peek-a-boo zebra print at the opening of the skirt as well as the slanted — practically hidden — pockets. | continue reading..

Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann | IFP’s 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards

“We Need To Talk About Kevin” star Tilda Swinton has been consistently rocking looks by Haider Ackermann while doing press for her movie this fall. As one of her go-to designers, I was hardly shocked to see that she selected pieces from his Spring 2012 collection for the 2011 Gotham Independent Film Awards last night.

I was, however, surprised at how much I liked it.

Tilda attended the ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC wearing black trousers and a long-sleeve sheer blouse with an attached neck tie from the collection. My favorite part of the look was the metallic plaid long blazer with satin lapels and cuffs. It was so chic and livened up the entire ensemble.

She really worked that jacket and paired it brilliantly — even with the basic black pumps. This definitely wouldn’t look right on anyone, but it fit Tilda’s style to a T.

Elizabeth Olsen in Valentino | IFP’s 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards

Elizabeth Olsen was one of the first ladies on the red carpet tonight at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City for the 2011 Gotham Independent Film Awards.

The “Martha Marcy May Marlene” was donned in an crystal beaded embroidered floor-length dress with nude underlining from the Resort 2012 collection by Valentino.

Elizabeth is a beautiful girl, and I adored her pinned under hairstyle with golden ringlets framing her face. Her make-up was equally flawless; from the neck up she was a true stunner.

While lovely, this isn’t the dress I would have selected for her. The silhouette lacks in giving her a definite shape. The nude lining at the neckline is supposed to play into a cowl design, but it just looks odd the way it’s falling. It’s as if a piece of the dress that’s supposed to be tucked in is sticking out.

On the upside, I think the color of the gown is much, much prettier on the red carpet than when it was photographed for the presentation. I also love the blush color of her satin clutch — it worked with the dress.

Elizabeth is wearing Kwiat jewels and Valentino sandals.

Jennifer Carpenter in Marc Jacobs | IFP’s 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards

Tonight was IFP’s 21st annual Gotham Independent Film Awards ceremony in New York City, and among the celebrity attendee list was Jennifer Carpenter.

The 31-year-old actress hit the red carpet at Cipriani Wall Street wearing a sleeveless ecru sheath dress from the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2012 collection. I’m really not clear on the entire top portion being embroidered with a feathered-esque iridescent shredded plastic design.

It looks incomplete and just comes across as bizarre with the metallic point toe pumps from the collection that feature a bright red strap across the foot.

I wasn’t feeling this look. To top it all off, that one strand of hair is giving me flashbacks to 1996. I believe every girl in my school rocked ‘the messy bun and two front piece’ look — and completely ran it into the ground.

Kate Hudson came out to the Savoy hotel for the 2011 British Fashion Awards tonight in London to support designer pal, Stella McCartney.

Stella was honored as a celebrity go-to designer for major events with the “Red Carpet Award”; naturally Kate flaunted her post-baby body on the blue carpet in a custom one shoulder black gown from Stella’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

This wasn’t your basic black gown, the left side was cutout in the waved design from the collection with mesh insets. | continue reading..

Chloe Moretz in Emilio Pucci | “Hugo” London Premiere

Either Chloe Moretz is finally working with a stylist, or I need to reevaluate my whole thought process on the selections she makes for herself. As of late, she has been consistent with great looks.

The 14-year-old actress attended the London 3D premiere of her new movie “Hugo” tonight at the Odeon Leicester Square cinema wearing an Emilio Pucci dress.

Chloe has been rocking a lot of lacy pieces this year, but when you compare tonight with her appearance at the “Hick” premiere during the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this season — I much prefer this dress on her.

The calf length added some modesty to the sheer arms and lace details throughout the dress. There was a fun and youthful quality about it with the blouse-style bodice that featured a sequined peter pan collar and four brass buttons at the center. | continue reading..

Olivia Palermo in Matthew Williamson | 2011 British Fashion Awards

Olivia Palermo looked extra stylish when she arrived at the Savoy hotel tonight in London for the 2011 British Fashion Awards.

The 25-year-old reality star and socialite attended the ceremony wearing a long-sleeve beaded dress from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection by Matthew Williamson. Perhaps the greatest details of all are the multi-tier fringes throughout the dress — even on the sleeves!

With all of the mad rushes for Spring 2012 looks, I was excited to see this dress finally get some red–err blue carpet time.

I think it looked great on Olivia, and I’m excited that the neckline was able to shine by her not covering it with her hair.

From the neck up she’s got that evening award show look down when it comes to her hair and make-up. But, with such a fun dress as this, I think a bouncy ponytail would have played up the youthfulness of it. | continue reading..

Alexa Chung in Christopher Kane | 2011 British Fashion Awards

In one of my favorite dresses of the night, Alexa Chung accepted the British Style Award tonight at the Savoy hotel for the 2011 British Fashion Awards wearing Christopher Kane!

Alexa gave her svelte frame some shape with this ivory silk satin sleeveless dress with an embroidered net cropped overlay from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection. She’s also carrying the matching clutch.

I love, love, love her “Kitty” pumps from Charlotte Olympia! Just… not with the dress. Although, this take on unique footwear isn’t surprising when it comes to Alexa’s interesting style.  | continue reading..
