Immediately following the taping of her appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” last night, Charlize Theron changed her dress and shoes before heading to the Ziegfeld Theatre to premiere her movie “Young Adult”.

The stunning actress was red-hot in a ‘trompe l’œil’ sleeveless leather cocktail dress from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection by Christian Dior. She’s currently the face of the “J’Adore” fragrance ads for Dior.

Charlize left her blonde bob in the voluminous curled style as she had on Letterman and kept on her diamond drop earrings by Fred Leighton.

After her stunning Tom Ford sandals earlier that night, I’m less than enthused with her choice of nude “Lance” sandals by Jimmy Choo. I love these sandals, but I prefer the mirrored and colorful leather versions over the nude. I really don’t like the nude with this bold dress.

What she needed was a sleek colorful sandal — a little reptile printed incorporation wouldn’t have hurt either. Jimmy Choo has an emerald green and snakeskin print that would have looked pretty fierce, while Christian Dior debuted a fun red strappy python platform sandal — both from their Spring 2012 collections.

I love the spiked detail on these lime/turquoise pointed toe alligator heels by Christian Louboutin. The toe and ankle strap are connected by a lucite framing. It’s a pump that looked like a sandal at first glance.

A little contrast in color would have looked vibrantly amazing with Charlize’s dress.

That dress was a hideous fit on her. Clearly Dior needs to seek out another tannery. That leather looked stretched out and chintzy. No shoe swap would have catapulted this look to flawless perfection.
