As a big fan of Florence + the Machine, I was very excited to learn that Florence Welch would be taking part in the VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul concert last night. The red-headed English songstress arrived at the Hammerstein Ballroom wearing a nude long-sleeve silk dress from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection by Antonio Berardi
with a high-low hem and high-neckline. The most eye-catching aspect of the dress would obviously be the absolutely breathtaking embellishments throughout the design.
I would have been floored had she wore shoes brightly hued like the metallic green pair from the catwalk, but while Florence played it safe — her nude point toe “Halte” pumps by Christian Louboutin were equally fabulous.
Her deep red hair was lightly waved but was also a little matted to her head, at least it appeared that way in some photos.
For a performance of Florence + the Machine’s single “Shake It Off”, Florence went barefoot while donned in a stunning metallic gown from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection by Naeem Khan
. I fell in love with this dress on the catwalk, and I think it was a brilliant choice for Florence — although the strong visibility and color of her camisole is kind of killing it for me. She could have wore something a bit less obvious while still keeping the plunging neckline modest.
Florence wore a dramatic black tuxedo gown from Temperley Londo
n’s Spring 2012 collection during her rendition of “Walking On Broken Glass” by Annie Lennox. This was one of my favorite looks that she wore last night. The all-black-everything look allowed for her hair to really pop, the fit was darn-near flawless, and I didn’t even mind the peek-a-boo lace underlay. The simplistic chic quality of this look actually makes it one of my favorite dresses she’s ever worn.
When Florence took the stage once again for a powerhouse performance of “Back to Black”– a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse — she was clad in a head-to-toe Fall/Winter 2011 ensemble by Emilio Pucci
. The rich velvet dark teal cocktail dress was simply gorgeous, and the all-over multicolored crystal embellishing made it all the most glamorous. It wasn an interesting choice for her, but it appears that the black bow at the deep sweetheart neckline is either nonexistent or tied much differently.
Florence completed the look with the dark aubergine multi-wrap ankle strap pointed toe pumps from the collection. I adore these shoes. Gorgeous.
Watch Florence TONIGHT, December 19th on “VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul” at 9pm/8c only on VH1!
