Hilary Swank in Elie Saab | “New Year’s Eve” LA Premiere

Everyone knows ‘it’s all about sparkle’ when it comes to your attire to ring in the new year; naturally you should take the same advice when dressing for a movie about ringing in the new year. Hilary Swank played it smart when she attended the Los Angeles premiere of her new film “New Year’s Eve” wearing a dazzling Elie Saab haute couture dress.

Hilary’s midnight blue embroidered batwing cocktail dress with a velvet floral applique at the waist was simply stunning. She obviously had to make some modifications; such as the under-layer at the bodice — it was quite revealing on the catwalk.

Unfortunately her look did come to a point where it disappointed. I was less than thrilled to see that she paired this dress with the glittered flame-designed fishnet slingback “Maralena” sandals by Christian Louboutin. They’re great shoes, but her dress glittered enough. A leather sandal like the pair seen with the dress during the presentation would have been ideal.

Her glamorous curls looked pretty and healthy, but I don’t understand the awkward pull of them to one side. It looks really strange. Leaving it all out or pulled up into a fun ponytail would have better suited the look since I’ve been unsuccessful in finding a photo where this hairstyle looked really good.

Hilary finished off her premiere look with a beaded black clutch and jewelry from Neil Lane.

“New Year’s Eve” opens in theaters on Friday, December 9th.
