As much as I gush over women in menswear on this site, it should go without saying that I loved Sandra Bullock’s look at the New York City premiere of “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” this past Thursday night.
Sandra hit the red carpet at the beautiful Ziegfeld Theatre with her co-stars Tom Hanks and Thomas Horn wearing an Alexander McQueen silk satin blazer and trousers — instantly making it one of my favorite looks that I’ve seen on her in awhile. Sure it was all-black, and a lot of people prefer color over anything — but, I’m not one of those people. Half of my closet is all black; I embrace the dark as much as the colorful, and I definitely embraced this ensemble.
I love the plunging neckline; it wasn’t revealing, despite the cut, and it only further enhanced attention towards those fantastic exaggerated shoulders! With enough double-sided tape, she probably could have done away with the nude lace camisole beneath the jacket, but it was subtle and didn’t hurt the look.
There’s really nothing for me to critique because the pants are relaxed and just wide enough, the silhouette is perfect, and the belt couldn’t be better. Sandra could have brought it down just a tad with the wrong hairstyle — but she didn’t! The bone-straight ombré hair just made it that much more edgy.
A great palette of make-up, black Casadei pumps, a gorgeous cocktail ring, and an embellished snakeskin clutch finished off this winning look.
