2012 SAG Awards: ‘Artistic’ Differences

Already taking award season by storm — and recently raking in a few Oscar nods — the ladies of “The Artist” brought a touch of femininity, glamour and fun to the red carpet on Sunday night for the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Berenice Bejo showed off her newly red mane in a low curly ponytail — with stray tendrils and swept bangs — as it gracefully fell over the shoulders of her beautiful gown. The 35-year-old actress wore a pretty bead-embellished v-neck custom column ivory gown by Ralph Lauren. This might quite possibly be my most favorite look for her. The dress was so flattering, her hair looked amazing, and most of all — that necklace!

Berenice brought out some color to this light look with a stunning purple and emerald jewel statement necklace from Chopard. She finished off her look with a complimenting Swarovski crystal clutch.

Penelope Ann Miller got bit by that “blue bug” for the evening as she donned a lovely lace gown from David Meister. I can’t help but think I would have like this dress more in black, a deep green or cranberry. Penelope pulled it off — especially with her bright shade of blonde hair, but there was still something off for me. Maybe it was the long sleek torso that went into such a low voluminous skirt. Penelope is also wearing Blue Nile sapphire and diamond earrings.

Either way, this wasn’t one of my favorite looks that night.

Missi Pyle was also stepping it up a notch for the awards! The 39-year-old actress competed with the heavy hitters and stunned in a lurex ruched bodice gown with bias strip long skirt from the Fall 2011 collection by Chagoury Couture. I love the fit, I like the color on her, and I adore her hair. The long twisty waves looked really nice with the dress.

It was an improvement over her last two red carpet appearances from her — but I don’t like her accessories. She should have pulled the ultimate award show move and opted for a sparkling minaudière.
