Breaking Down the “Pretty Little Liars” Fashion from the Winter Premiere!

The ‘Liars’ returned Monday night with the winter premiere of “Pretty Little Liars”, entitled “Through Many Dangers, Toils and Snares” on ABC Family! I will admit that I was anxiously awaiting this episode to see how the aftermath would go down. Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Aria (Lucy Hale), and Hanna (Ashley Benson) were arrested in the fall finale and Aria’s mom found out that Ezra was hooking up with one of his former high school students (not knowing it was her own daughter). Also, what exactly was Jenna and Garret’s involvement in the murder of Alison?

I know, and its an ABC Family show. They’re moving on up.

I’ll also admit that as much as I wanted to see the conclusion of this drama, I really wanted to see the clothes.

Let me break down some of the wardrobe from the episode…

While walking to school Aria and her younger brother had an awkward run-in with Ezra, but her outfit was anything but.

PLL costume designers Mandi Line put the eclectic young lady in a fun green and white striped “Pussyfoot Cat” tank dress by Bailey 44. The scooped neck top portion of the dress featured thicker stripes while the skirt had mini lines. The draping detail from the thick black banded waist gave off the illusion that she was wearing a top and skirt.

Aria warmed up the summery look with a Gaetano Navarra d-ring embellished jacket and mega-platform wedged black “Zup” ankle boots by Jeffrey Campbell. I’m really digging her bright orange leather shoulder bag with a studded bottom by Rebecca Minkoff. The whole look was brought together with a chunky agate sliced pendent necklace by Ali NY.

Spencer and Emily were arguing about something in Mrs. Montgomery’s class but I missed bits and pieces because I was checking out Spencer’s blouse. She wore a pretty viscose ivory “Nashota” sleeveless top from Theory with a ruffled front yoke that was adorned with a black bow.

I really liked how Mandi layered the black and white Guess jacket over it and finished off the look with black skinny jeans and tall leather Seychelles boots.

Rebecca Minkoff products have been a constant part of Hanna’s wardrobe lately on the show, which I’m totally loving by the way, and she doubled up this episode. During a school scene we got an eyeful of her navy printed bustier dress and her black and white tote bag — both by Minkoff. I’m assuming it’s still autumn on the show — I’d think they’d be in brighter clothes if it were spring — so Hanna added a cozy cropped black longsleeve sweater by Halogen over the dress.

Ashley Benson cut her hair and so I’m going to miss Hanna’s pretty curls, but I’m wondering if her wardrobe will change up a bit to compliment her edgy new long bob — the ‘lob’.

Later on the episode she was greeted by the return of her boyfriend Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) while wearing a really cute tribal printed pink cropped tee by Vintage Havana. Must have been warm that day.

Emily is the resident sporty ‘Liar’, and I’m happy to see that Mandi has been incorporating lots of Alternative Apparel into her wardrobe. I’m a huge fan of the brand — their tops are so comfortable. In this episode she wore the “Big League” burnout tee in black with white raglan sleeves. She kept it casual with skinny jeans and dark military boots.

As the days changed in the episode, I got to enjoy another look by Aria. I love her wardrobe on the show; the mixture of funky prints, colors, textures, vintage finds, and boots are always just. so. cute.

She had a stand-off with Ezra’s ex-fiancee in his office while wearing gray skinny jeans by BDG paired with brown Steve Madden biker boots. I really liked the teal-colored lacy tee by Kimchi Blue that she layered over a dark tank.

In typical Aria style, a mixture of layered necklaces were present.

I’d like to talk about the rest of the wardrobe, but you could hardly see anything during those sneaky night time scenes of the girls trying to catch “A” in the woods. That pesky “A”.
