As one of the first actresses on the red carpet last night, Claire Danes really set things in motion in her custom J. Mendel gown.

Gilles Mendel re-created this ecru and black cocktail dress from his Pre-Fall 2012 collection into a full-length look from his couture collection for Claire to wear.

This was one of my favorite looks from his latest collection, but I think I prefer it in its knee-length style as I’m completely in love with the open back graphic design, but feel like I just keep staring at the miles of solid black fabric instead of the gorgeous bodice and waist detailing. It was also a bit loose at the chest; a curvier figure was needed to give the longer version of this dress a more ‘filled out’ silhouette.

Claire got her dose of color by adding a vibrant shade of pink to her lips. An up-do hairstyle, a pair of Giusepe Zanotti heels, a Tiffany & Co. clutch, and jewels from Bulgari completed her look.

Congratulations go out to Claire as she won the award for “Best Actress in a TV Drama” for her role on “Homeland”!
