Helen Mirren in Badgley Mischka | 2012 Directors Guild Of America Awards

When I first saw pictures of Dame Helen Mirren on the red carpet at the 64th Annual Directors Guild Of America Awards last night, I thought “haven’t I seen her in this or something like it before?”

My eyes were not playing tricks on me. Helen, in fact, wore this exact same Badgley Mischka light yellow-gold gown with bead-embellished drapey sleeves to the 2011 Golden Globe Awards! See a photo below.

I understand loving a dress so much that you want to wear it again, but it’s somewhat taboo to wear the same dress to two major events…especially during awards season.

While I love her in this design, I always look forward to seeing her next look so I was bummed to see the same thing twice.

However, I will say that her jewelry choices and hairstyle were much better this time around.
