Madonna in Marchesa | “W.E.” NYC Premiere

Madonna was obviously going for some serious drama when she hit the red carpet tonight for the premiere of her film “W.E.” hosted by The Weinstein Company with The Cinema Society & Forevermark at the legendary Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City.

Bursting with voluminous tulle at the shoulders, Madonna selected this black gown from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection by Marchesa that featured a gliding floor-length velvet black skirt and an embroidered illusion bodice.

When I originally saw this design on the model, I wondered how they would modify it to be less revealing on the red carpet; Madonna wore a lace trimmed bustier underneath.

I’m a bit disappointed that the tulle was flattened on her, but it was also pouring rain tonight so there’s that.

Regardless, she had trouble pulling this off.

Beneath the dress she wore a pair of black patent “Lady Peep” pumps by Christian Louboutin.
