Regina King in Alberta Ferretti | 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards

It’s always a good thing when you wear something that really pops against your skin tone, especially when it’s a regular occurrence to see ladies hitting the carpet in dresses that totally wash them out.

“Southland” star Regina King made a smart move when she attended the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards this past weekend and opted for a beautiful strapless lilac tulle gown with a sweetheart neckline by Alberta Ferretti.  This color really popped against her rich complexion.

She has a great athletic figure but the tiered ruffles in the design of this gown enhanced her curves as well.

I give her major points for not overwelming this layerd gown with too many bold accessories — other than a sparkly clutch. Her hair looked good with the wispy swept bangs, but it was her make-up that was flawless.

I noticed when she took the stage during the ceremony to present with Kyle Chandler that her nails were polished a shimmery purple to match her dress and the stones in her gold and amethyst drop earrings.
