Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen | 2012 Oscars

Many people, myself included, thought there was a strong possibility Jessica Chastain would walk the red carpet tonight for the 84th Annual Academy Awards in Armani, because she found out she was nominated while attended the presentation during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week last month.

At the same time, considering how much “The Help” actress seemed to be falling in love with Alexander McQueen dresses lately, I thought one of Sarah Burton’s designs would be a strong contender.

Turns out it was more than just a strong contender, Jessica arrived at the Hollywood & Highland Center in a gorgeous bespoke black silk organza bustier gown completely embroidered with gold bullion and metal threading.

One of my favorite things about this look was how beautifully styled her hair was! With a little volume at the top, Jessica’s strawberry red tresses were slightly gathered to cascade down her back in loose waves.

She completed her look with striking yellow diamond jewels by Harry Winston that cost $2 million dollars!

Beneath her dress, Jessica wore a pair of black leather “Alesha” platform pumps by Brian Atwood.
