Meryl Streep took home Mr. Oscar last night at the 84th Academy Awards when she won Best Actress for her role as Margaret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady”. Meryl obviously had a feeling this would be a big night — why else would she have coordinated her outfit with her biggest date of the evening?

The 62-year-old actress wore a custom-made gold lamé draped Eco gown in silk mousseline by Alber Elaz and tied the look together with a woven gold and strass chain link belt.  This dress was actually quite perfect for her; Meryl loves to wear gowns that drape over her shoulders. When she doesn’t, she’ll still include a coat — or scarf to create that desired effect.

Meryl completed her look with a matching pair of open toe Salvatore Ferragamo pumps, a mother-of-pearl minaudière and a swept-up hairstyle. Additionally she wore a pair of gold drop earrings from Fred Leighton.
