Jada Pinkett Smith in Catherine Malandrino | 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards

As her husband prepared to host the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday night, Jada stepped out on the orange carpet — with their kids Willow and Jaden — wearing hot pink.

Jada has always been into adding a bit of edge to every one of her looks, and I was definitely into her spring look this weekend. She slipped on a fluro v-neck jumpsuit from Catherine Malandrino with gathered ankle-cuffs and a cool sash belt, but I don’t think she really needed the cropped light wash denim jacket.

She added some flair with layered Kimberly McDonald geode necklaces before topping off the look with a sky-high pair of elaphe snakeskin “Topaz” platform wedges by Jimmy Choo. I like the shoes, but they seemed a bit heavy with the outfit and her petite frame. A sleeker style in the same print would have been a wise choice.

Jada styled her curly tresses into a high-volume side ponytail, but I can’t help wishing it had been a traditional pony.
