Kate Hudson in Jenny Packham | 2012 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner

The first word that came to mind when I saw Kate Hudson arrive to the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner this past Saturday evening was “Yowza”. I kid you not — there’s tweet document proof.

Kate has worn some gorgeous dresses in the past, but I never expected her to go for a fully sequined, electric purple gown — but I like it a lot. I love long sleeve sequin dresses, but even more so in a foxy color. This stunner — which featured a plunging open back, was designed by Jenny Packham.

To compliment the embellished black cuffs on her dress — and her matching drop earrings, Kate carried the black acrylic “Lara” clutch by Edie Parker, with ice ends clutch.

This clutch is becoming quite the Hollywood essential on the red carpet. The wide range of colors and styles (there’s one that glows in the dark!) provide endless possibilities for any outfit. I was already a fan of Parker’s collection, but this beauty stands out amongst them all.

She completed her glamorous look with a sky high Cinderella-esque bun and Brian Atwood black patent “Maniac” pumps.
