Cover Girl: Kristen Stewart Goes Retro for ELLE UK June 2012!

 

KRISTEN STEWART graces her second magazine cover of the year with the June 2012 issue of ELLE UK!

Back in March, the British fashion magazine broke protocol and announced that Kristen would be covering the summer issue in honor of the release of her new movie “Snow White and the Huntsman”. Shortly after their announcement, the editors tweeted a play-by-play of their Los Angeles photoshoot with K.Stew on location at the Scientology Celebrity Centre. They shared photos of the clothing rack, location and jewelry — but never showed K.Stew, of course.

The result? A sassy 1960s-inspired shoot in a gorgeous garden — photographed by David Slijper.

For the cover, Anne-Marie Curtis styled Kristen in a Spring 2012 white cropped sweater, pencil skirt and slip by Jil Sander.

I love everything from the backdrop, outfit and make-up — to the shades of blue used for the bold text. Unfortunately, the helmut-styled hair is a bit odd. Throughout the shoot you’ll notice that Kristen’s dark tresses flow quite freely and I wish they had done on the same for the cover.

Make-up artist Jillian Dempsey gave Kristen a fresh look using a soft pink color pallette.

In this outtake you not only see a clearer view of her Jil Sander outfit, but you can also spot Kristen’s hair slightly falling over her shoulder. This just goes to show that her hair looked better originally rather than in the cover edit.

This shot of Kristen — in a Miu Miu lago-blue cotone, double high-waisted skirt and cropped v-neck top, was used for the special Subscriber’s Cover.

She simply accessorized with a gold and diamond Annoushka initial “K” necklace.

Kristen stops to smell the flowers while looking pretty in pink! The 22-year-old poses in a pink and white cotton dress by Miu Miu, silver Spring 2012 Mary-Jane pumps by Marc Jacobs and the Annoushka necklace.

In my favorite photo, Kristen relaxes in a beautiful silk-brocade and organza top and skirt by Christopher Kane. I love her hair and make-up here; the color of the flowers paired with natural sunlight add a stunning glow.

For this gorgeous shot, Kristen tilts her head down to show off her acetate ivory Agent Provocateur sunglasses while wearing a matching lace Valentino dress.

This was the only wardrobe change that Kristen had which included pants! Here she leans against the building in a cool raspberry wool-mix Rochas sweater paired with shiny silk-brocade Christopher Kane trousers.

I could definitely have seen this as the cover!

All in all, the editorial seemed like fun and Kristen looked fab — as usual! But, as a major fan of ELLE’s previous 1960s-inspired shoot with her back in 2010, I don’t feel like this one topped it. I also would have liked to have seen her in more Spring 2012 looks that weren’t overused in other fashion magazines. Nevertheless, this issue includes a great interview with Kristen — make sure you grab your copy today!
