“The Descendants” actress Shailene Woodley attended the Trophée Chopard In Partnership With Variety Magazine event last night, held during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, where she was presented with a “Rising Star” award by Sean Penn.

The 20-year-old opted for a high-glamour look that included a drop-dead-gorgeous belted black velvet gown from the Fall 2012 collection by Jason Wu, with stunning embroidery on the shoulders and a sexy thigh high slit.

This is probably one of the most beautiful dresses I’ve ever seen Shailene wear, so it bothers me that she still didn’t do anything with her hair. This was the perfect time to try a braid or a beautiful chignon.

Shailene finished off her look with black cage sandals from Wu’s collection that featured gold studded elements on the platform.
