2012 Teen Choice Awards – WISH LIST
Photo: ZimbioWith the awards less than 24 hours away, there’s a good chance our fave gals already know what they’ll be walking the TCA carpet in. Then again, there’s always room for a change of plans at the last minute! The Fashion Court: Wish List is all about designer looks I’d like to see someone in — or something I think they would select. If they don’t wear it for this particular awards gala then there’s always hope for a future event!
Make sure you follow me at @courtjustice and @TheFashionCourt as I will be live-tweeting the red carpet looks! My complete review run-downs will be posted to TheFashionCourt.com after the stars make their way inside for the show.
Photos: Zimbio; Style.comISSA: This darling orange, white, black and powder blue zebra printed dress from the Resort 2013 collection by Issa would be a great look on Demi. The a-line cut would be flattering to her curvy figure while the bold pattern compliments her edgy and free-spirit style. Demi’s been totally into wearing leather and denim studded jackets despite the hot weather. If she does the same tomorrow, how cute would a biker jacket look over this frock with some fierce platform heels?
BCBG MAX AZRIA: Demi selected a BCBG yellow lace dress last year, so if she opts for another one of Max Azria’s designs I’d like to see her look towards his Pre-Fall 2012 collection. This white and icy grey halter dress is soft, flirty and cool enough for the summer heat. The coral triangle beneath the bust adds a nice pop of color and we already know black leather elements give it an instant feminine edge.
Photos: Zimbio; Style.comL.A.M.B.: I personally think Gwen will wear a custom design from her fashion label L.A.M.B. tomorrow night. If so, I hope she takes inspiration from her Spring 2012 collection as I’m pretty much obsessed with the platform sandals and the lively prints she used. Two of my favorite looks would be the black high-neck halter top paired with the red, white and black mix-pattern belted mini skirt and the printed olive cargo romper. Her signature red lips and a cool twisted hairstyle are bound to complete her look.
Photos: Zimbio; Style.com; NavenERIN FETHERSTON: Victoria turned to designer Erin Fetherston for her MTV Movie Awards look this year, so if she opts for another one of her designs — I hope it’s from the recently debuted Resort 2013 collection. I’m in love with this sweetheart neck gathered teal mini! I think the cut would be perfect for Victoria’s slender figure and she could further enhance the look with exciting sandals and jewelry.
NAVEN: Neon is huge right now and Victoria is usually on trend. This two-tone purple and aqua cutout dress from the Hollywood fave Naven would be perfect for Victoria. She wore a similar gown version of the dress once before, so we already know she’s a fan! A silky straight mane, a colorful necklace (Dannijo, maybe?) and platform sandals would be winning additions.
Photos: Zimbio; Style.comVERSACE: Lea is becoming quite the Versace fan! We should have known her Atelier Versace gown at this year’s SAG Awards was just the beginning. Lately the starlet has been photographed for numerous magazines and appearances in Donatella Versace’s designs and earlier this month Lea was spotted front row at the haute-couture fashion show. If she goes this route tomorrow night, I’d like to see her select this bubblegum pink leather mini dress with black detailing. Lea has a killer body and a new summer tan, so she could work it.
CHRISTIAN COTA: Lea doesn’t always opt for sexy looks on the red carpet. One minute you’ll find her in leather, but then she’ll turn to a casual skirt-suit (like at Comic-Con last week) or a sweet feminine a-line dress. This blue, orange and aqua splash printed dress would look fantastic on her. With tumbling waves and a colorful or metallic sandal — this could be beyond workable.
Photos: Zimbio; Style.comERIN FETHERSTON: This long silk black halterneck dress from Erin Fetherston ‘s Resort 2013 collection has a great retro vibe about it and the glittering gold accents at the neckline and blocked hem provide some extra glitz. I think this would be beautiful and flattering look for Zooey.
MOSCHINO: If she’s feeling more like a true 60s beach bunny, then maybe Zooey should look to Moschino ‘s latest cruise collection. The sleeveless black mini shift dress is exploding with bright fluorescent flower power. Like the model, I’d love to see Zooey rock this with a pair of shoes that compliment the coral, green or blue in the floral pattern.
Photos: ZimbioTROIAN BELLISARIO (ALICE + OLIVIA): Troian Bellisario has a very mature feminine look. While many girls turn to mini dresses, she’ll often wear longer cuts and clean lines. Last year the 26-year-old opted for a sophisticated halterneck gown, so I took a bit of inspiration from that with my pick this year. I’d like to see Troy in another maxi this year and I think this strapless floral look from Alice + Olivia ‘s Resort 2013 collection would be perfect. The sleek column cut would be easy to move around it while the print is perfect for summer.
SHAY MITCHELL (CAMILLA AND MARC): Shay Mitchell loves showing off her legs — and if you had the long and toned gams she has, you would too. A lot of girls get washed out with really pale toned dresses, but I think this sexy asymmetric ice mini from Camilla and Marc would really pop against her tanned complexion. I’d love to see her pair with a colorful or printed shoe.
Photos: Style.com; FacebookLUCY HALE (BCBGMAXAZRIA): Like her PLL character, Lucy Hale has a very eclectic fashion palette. She loves studs, mixed patterns (especially Aztec lately), tight fights and bright colors. I love the mixture of colors and prints in this blocked bandage dress from the latest BCBG Max Azria collection. I could see Lucy really having fun with accessorizing this dress and the slim fit would look fab on her petite figure.
Photos: Zimbio; Style.comMONIQUE LHUILLIER: I’m totally in love with this two piece look from the Resort 2013 collection by Monique Lhuillier. This sleeveless white flared top and trouser shorts are bursting with life and color thanks to these paint splatters of orange, pink and lilac. Not only is this a fresh way to wear shorts on the red carpet, but the pops of color totally capture the vibe of the Teen Choice Awards. The silhouette would be ideal on Nina’s svelte figure. I mean — it would only lengthen those mile-long gams of hers! I’d love to see her totally rock this with a pair of orange or hot pink heels.
REBECCA MINKOFF: Should Miss Dobrev stick with a dress, I hope something like this Rebecca Minkoff mini catches her eye. The cosmic combination of two patterns in this wrapped frocks is completely entrancing. Because she’s so tall and slender, the gathering fabric at the hip would also be flattering while it could add some unwanted width to others.
Imagine a killer pair of colorful sandals with this beauty!
Photos: Zimbio; Style.comROBERTO CAVALLI: Not only is Selena all about flashy dresses, but she loves Roberto Cavalli — another fan of the ultimate party dress. Sel wore a super tiny gold Cavalli design at the MuchMusic Video Awards earlier this summer, so if she were to go that route again, this Spring 2012 drop waist strappy pailette dress would be brilliant. A high ponytail and matching prism sandals would be the perfect pairing.
JUST CAVALLI: When my eyes first fell on this bright lime green-and-black gown in the Resort 2013 collection from Roberto Cavalli’s Just Cavalli collection, my mind immediately went to Selena. I think she could pull off “the Angelina pose” with this high slit and a sassy pair of black platform sandals. The halterneck design and floating skirt is perfect for Selena; while it’s a more mature cut, the vibrant tropical leaf and leopard pattern screams for a fiery youthful personality to rock it.
I say leave the hoop earrings too — but lose the hat, please.
Photos: Zimbio; Style.comMICHAEL KORS: Nikki is a longtime fan of Michael Kors, and after having spent some time with the designer in New York City last year, she wore many of his dressed on the red carpet during promo for “Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ last fall. In the latest cruise collection from Kors, I found this adorable gold and navy metallic strapless cocktail dress. It seems like she loves gold as much as I do; considering it compliments her caramel complexion so well, I’m not surprised that she wears the metal so often. With a mane of waterfall waves and gold accents, I think this may come close to being one of her best looks.
TCAs or not — Nikki needs this dress.
PETER PILOTTO: Despite seeing so much of it on the red carpet over the past several months, I can’t seem to get enough of Pilotto’s Spring 2012 collection. With all the dresses from the line worn, I’m sadden to see that this fun printed scuba shift never got any spotlight. With a sleek high ponytail and a pair of red or blue shoes, I think this would be a sweet silhouette on Nikki’s toned figure. She has great shoulders!
Photos: Zimbio; Style.comANTONIO BERARDI: Ashley is a fan of pencil cut skirts, so I heavily focused on that when picturing my ideal dresses on her. My number one pick is this white sheath design from the Resort 2013 collection by Antonio Berardi. The cut is sexy, but the details are stunning. I adore the blue stripes, monochrome floral arrangement pattern and the cutout at the neckline that looks like an illusion split down the dress. The fact that orange sandals were paired with this just makes me love it more.
YIGAL AZROUEL: If she’s feeling bold and bright, then I vote Ash opt for this baroque citrus sheath from Yigal Azrouel. She could be so versatile with accessories — hello, shoes! — and her hair. It would also show that despite not being a teen anymore, she can identify with the viewers of the show due to her energetic style.
DKNY: As the current face of DKNY, I can’t rule out a dress from the New York fashion house. Most the latest pieces from the Fall collection focus on leather… and it’s going to be hot. Unless Donna Karan designs something special for Miss Greene, I’d like to see her rock a piece from the Spring 2012 line. One of my favorite pieces is the tight and colorful printed pencil skirt. Ashley could wear this with a tucked in top paired with the same shoes seen on the model, but in black.
Photos: Zimbio; Style.comI’ve been following and reporting on Kristen’s style for nearly five years now and this is the first time I don’t feel like I know where her head it as when it comes to her award show look. K.Stew has been wow-ing me for months with an assortment of very different looks. One minute she’s in a lacy bone gown, next she’s in a suit and then she rocks a slew of midriff tops on the red carpet. I love this girl!
Kristen made my job picking out favorites for her even harder this time around. While mini dresses are usually her go-to style (and I’m all about taking about her switch-ups) I can’t help taking into account that this is a summer ceremony and it’s going to be super hot this weekend. Let the girl wear short-short anything. So… on with it!
BCBGMAXAZRIA: Kristen is and has always been a fan of Max Azria’s designs. She’s worn pieces from all of his lines — but most recently she’s been spotted on the red carpet in two looks from his BCBG collection. I’m in love with the Resort 2013 line and could see Kris opting for this printed strapless bodycon dress with a pop of hot pink color. I could definitely picture her in it, but I’m just not sure if she would pick another Azria design so close to her recent Comic-Con appearance.
PRABAL GURUNG: I personally feel like Prabal Gurung designed his Resort 2013 collection with Kristen in mind. Every single look is something I could see her in, be it a red carpet event or a photoshoot. My favorite looks for her are the shorts-suits — especially this one pictured. I imagine the printed top attached to the matching trouser shorts is sleeveless (at least I hope so), so if Kristen lost the jacket and rocked a sandal just as drool-worthy as the model — we could be onto something!
PETER PILOTTO: I’ve been waiting to see Kristen wear something from Pilotto’s stash for such a long time, and I hope I don’t have to wait much longer. I’m a huge fan of this multicolored capsleeve mini dress from his Resort 2013 collection and I know Kristen would rock it, no question. You can see it too, can’t you?

Because I’m an indecisive person when it comes to some things — I simply couldn’t officially narrow down my picks for Kristen. At first I thought of including a little Balenciaga (hey Florabotanica girl, hayyy), but nothing from recent collections screamed “wear this to the TCAs!” to me. I also turned to Balmain ‘s latest — but my favorites were long-sleeved or pants. Reminder: It’s late July.
So, here we go! K.Stew honorable mentions in 3…2…
Photos: Style.comMONIQUE LHUILLIER: Considering this is my second Lhuillier selection for this wishlist, you might be able to tell that I have a soft spot for it. While I love the abstract jacket, I’m not saying Kristen should wear it…those shorts though. These shorts are almost *too good*.
BARBARA BUI: I’ve been a fan of Bui’s designs for awhile and now that she’s getting a little more red carpet attention, I naturally want to increase that. This is my favorite dress from her Spring 2012 collection — the shoes too — and I’d love to see Kristen in it. The shoulder cutouts and the black, chartreuse and orange prints are completely gorgeous.
What do you think of my picks? What do you want to see your favorite stars in?

Prabal Gurung, Peter Pilotto or Monique Lhuillier for Kristen! Prabal Gurung is my first pick! Let’s see! I think she will surprise us all!
Omfg. The Peter Pilotto is absolutely PERFECT for Kristen! Now i’m going to be all sad if she doesn’t wear this dress!
