2012 Do Something Awards: A Fashion Round-Up

2012 Do Something Awards: A Fashion Round-UpL-R: Ellie Kemper, Bella Thorne, Olivia Munn and Claudia Lee. | Photos: Zimbio
The Fashion Court caught you up with some of the hottest dresses from your favorite stars on the blue carpet for the 2012 Do Something Awards, hosted by DoSomething.Org and VH1 in Hollywood. But, there were a few other note-worthy looks that I didn’t want to go unnoticed.

Let’s break them down here, shall we?

Ellie Kemper looked so cute when she arrived for the awards ceremony in this printed a-line party dress. The “21 Jump Street” actress selected a gold metallic cocktail dress  by Rafael Cennamo, from the Fall/Winter 2012 collection, which featured navy blue detailing, especially at the banded waist. Ellie wore her red hair in loosely sculpted waves before finishing off her look with a red pout and sassy navy strappy sandals.

Bella Thorne‘s hair just keeps getting lighter and lighter! I’ve always been a fan of the rich red hair on  the “Shake It Up” starlet, but this pale shade is a bit lackluster against her fair complexion. It doesn’t help that her nude lace BCBGMAXAZRIA dress does nothing to add some lively color to her overall ensemble. She’s only fourteen though, so Bella totally gets away with playing with her party frock by updating it with a jewel-embellished belt and spike-embellished python printed ankle booties.

Olivia Munn looked like she raided Bella’s closet to find her blue carpet frock. The 32-year-old wore a very youthful and vibrant pink swirl-printed tweed shift dress by Alice + Olivia, which featured short fringe detailing along the neckline and hemline. I like the dress, but with Olivia’s serious hairstyle, jewelry and rounded-toe Sole Society pumps — I feel like the dress was out of place.

“Hart of Dixie” starlet Claudia Lee rocked a flirty strapless cream dress from FindersKeepers, which featured a bold silver metallic detail at the bodice. With her beautiful blonde mane styled in sculpted big curls, she finished off her look with a gold metallic bag and nude platform B Brian Atwood pumps. I l really liked her sky blue stone bracelet from CC SKYE that matched her summer trendy manicure.

2012 Do Something Awards: A Fashion Round-UpL-R: Keke Palmer, Aubrey Plaza, Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic | Photos: Zimbio
Keke Palmer kept her look on the demure side by wearing a chalky white cap sleeve knee-length cocktail dress. It was a bit “business formal” for the evening and quite an aging look for the 18-year-old actress. I think she could have added an edge to it by rocking some colorful statement jewelry, but Keke finished off her look with a pewter minaudière and classic black pointed toe pumps.

I know that it’s popular to wear nude shoes with red and pink dresses — but I’m totally over that. I prefer the neutral colored accent with dresses of the oceanic variety. I love how Holland Roden wore them with a teal dress last week, and I really loved them on Aubrey Plaza at the DS Awards with her bright blue laser stencil Catherine Deane leather dress . The “Parks and Recreation” star wore the strappy platform “Orner” sandals from Jerome C. Rousseau. I liked this whole look a lot — I just wish she had done something more with her hair.

Kelly Osbourne took it easy for the awards ceremony. The “E! Fashion Police” correspondent normally dons something a little funky on the red carpet, but this time around she selected a breezy printed summertime maxi dress from Armani Exchange. The crossover v-neck dress featured romantic ruffle fluttering open short sleeves. For once, Kelly’s dress didn’t compete with her lilac hair color. This look was complete with a crystal encrusted evening clutch and Samira 13 Fine Jewelry.

While Kelly kept it easy-going for the blue carpet, her E! Fashion Police buddy Giuliana Rancic opted for a little bit of summertime glam. The 37-year-old TV personality wore a lovely Cengiz Abazoglu peach silk strapless dress, from the designer’s Spring 2012 Pre-a-Porter collection. It featured an asymmetric element at the bust with striking pleated detailing throughout the dress. Giuliana left her hair out in falling waves before finishing off her look with a beige clutch and peach pointed toe pumps.
