Review: Zoya ‘Pixie Dust’ Summer 2013 Edition

Product Review

Review: Zoya Pixie Dust Summer 2013 EditionWow, summer seems to be flying by at a rapid pace and, before you know it, autumn will be arriving. However, no worries, there’s still plenty left to enjoy of the season—and there’s still time to get (and rock) the new Zoya Summer Pixie Dust polish collection.

The cool peeps at Zoya kindly sent me the collection—along with some of the colors from the debut Pixie collection, so I could show you just how awesome they really are. The entire collection is beautiful, bright—and, of course, super sparkly!

Your finger nails will reflect like diamonds under the summer sun.

Review: Zoya Pixie Dust Original Collection

The Pixie Dust polishes are new for Zoya this year; the Original Collection [see photo above] debuted in January.

Unlike the other textured metallic polishes you may have seen lately, these are super fine with a strong glittering effect.

It’s almost as if they were made of fairy dust!

Review: Zoya Pixie Dust Summer 2013 EditionBEATRIX
Beatrix — Out of all six colors, this is the one that really felt like the poster child for summer. The bright orange (or ‘tangerine’) color is super intense and would be perfect against sun-kissed skin. It’s just so perfect for sunny days.

Review: Zoya Pixie Dust Summer 2013 EditionDESTINY
Destiny — This color completely confuses me as to what it really is. Zoya describes it as a ‘coral’, but I just don’t see it. Quite frankly, at first I was wondering why two orange shades were included in the same collection. I wasn’t feeling this too much as when I put it on, it almost looked too orange. That kind of bummed me out because I love coral.

Review: Zoya Pixie Dust Summer 2013 EditionMIRANDA
Miranda — Beautiful! This is definitely one of my favorites of the bunch. It’s a very pretty almost rose color with light pink flecks that really shine in the daylight. I had full coverage after almost three coats.

Review: Zoya Pixie Dust Summer 2013 EditionSTEVIE
Stevie — This would be my least favorite simply because it seems more of a spring color. It’s not really one I’d choose to wear this time of year, and I have a medium complexion with olive tones so I didn’t feel it flattered my complexion best. It’s described as a violet but, to me, it’s more of a lavender with silver flecks throughout.

Review: Zoya Pixie Dust Summer 2013 EditionLIBERTY
Liberty — My favorite! I love blue polish and this is right up my alley. This is the perfect color for this time of year to wear at the pool or as a great addition to a Fourth of July / Labor Day mani. Be warned though, this is one I’d most definitely use a base coat with as it does stain a bit.

Review: Zoya Pixie Dust Summer 2013 EditionVERDICT: Overall, it’s a good collection and one that you’ll probably use throughout the year. I also found a lot of the colors to be highly useful for nail art. I’d say the hits for me were Liberty, Beatrix and Miranda. Also, out of the textured polishes I’ve tried, the Pixie Dust formula is amazing, it goes on very smoothly, and–once dry–isn’t too gritty at all. I will say that the dust is pretty sticky when removing though and kind of goes all over your hands.
