I was instantly drawn to the metallic edges of Lily’s seemingly bare nails and had to get the 4-1-1 on them STAT!
Celebrity Manicurist FLEURY ROSE is responsible for giving Lily’s nails the Midas touch, and she was kind enough to share the inside secrets on achieving the look. “Lily and I first met on the set of her Glamour cover shoot with Ellen von Unwerth. She wears a lot of dark polish, but wanted to try something lighter, and fun with nail art since it was for Jimmy Fallon!,” Fleury explained.

“To achieve Lily’s look, I filed her nails to a soft almond shape, which she loved because of how elegant and vintage it look! Next, I applied a base coast before I tipped each nail with a swipe of Illamasqua ‘Swinger’, which I applied with a thin brush. Lily loved the color, because it would look nice with her rings. She loves to mix metals!”
Too true! Lily’s killer rings further enhanced her shimmering mani.
“We opted for a ‘Smiley’ french, which means the edges are exaggerated to come up higher. On each ring finger I created a ‘shield’ by circling the entire nail in gold, and then painting a vertical line down the center. I topped the shield with two matte gold studs.”
So, what’s it like to work with Miss Collins? Pretty much as you expected—like hanging out with one of your best girl friends!
“Lily greeted me at the door with a warm smile. She is naturally gorgeous, really sweet, and such a cool lady. She has a really strong sense of style, and it is obvious she loves fashion, and has great taste,” Fleury gushed. “We talked a lot about magic, horoscopes—she read ours out loud, while I did her mani, tattoos, jewelry, and about her exciting travels promoting her movie. It is really a pleasure to work with a client as kind as her!”
One of the coolest things about Lily’s edgy nail art is that it’s bright enough for the summer, but dramatic enough to take you right into the fall. Don’t be afraid to try something new.
If gold isn’t your thing, switch it up with a silver or gunmetal.
