Naomi Watts made an incredibly elegant arrival on the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival premiere of “How To Train Your Dragon 2” in a gorgeous custom made Marchesa goddess gown. A glamorous dress calls for a major hair and makeup moment, and Naomi’s go-to-gal Mary Wiles helped the beautiful actress achieve her desired look with a flawless ethereal makeup palette.
“Naomi is stunning, so I wanted to emphasis her beautiful features subtlety, and keep her look fresh-faced and modern to compliment the romantic [Marchesa] dress,” Mary explained the inspiration behind the look.
FOR THE FACE: If time permits, Mary likes to use a mark on Naomi — either Sisley Express Flower Gel or SK-II Facial Treatment Mask to hydrate, especially after a long flight. She then prepared the skin with Lancôme ‘Tonique Confort’ Comforting Rehydrating Toner before applying Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream and Regenerating Eye Cream. She allowed for it to sink into the skin for maximum hydration while she moved onto the eyes.
PLAYING UP THE EYES: Lancôme La Base Paupières Pro Eye Shadow Base in 02 was applied to the lid; it creates a pretty sheen on its own and keeps shadow from moving. MAC’s Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Constructivist was used along the lash line.
For the shadow – Mary used Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Cream Shadow in New Moon and blended from the outer lashes to the socket, and a little in lower lashes to create a soft look and bring out Naomi’s blue eyes. She also added a few individual lashes at the outer top lashes. Two swipes of Eyeko Fat Brush Mascara Big & Bold in Black helped finish off the eyes.
BACK TO THE BASE: Mary added Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in Nude Radiance mixed with By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Foundation in No. 7 to keep her skin fresh and glowing. She then used By Terry Touche Veloutee Highlighting Concealer in No. 2 lightly under her eyes. Mary applied Benefit Fine-One-One Sheer Brightening Colour to the cheeks and used RMS Beauty Living Luminizer Cream on the cheek bones; it creates a perfect highlight.
PUCKER UP: Mary added warmth and colour on the lips and cheeks with Burberry Lip Glow in Fondant Pink No.21 in the center of the lips.
Special thanks to Mary Wiles!
