I know some of these are ‘far out’ there — what’s a wish list without dreaming big?
I invite you to follow me on the big night (Sunday, January 11th) on Twitter [ @TheFashionCourt ] as I ID the celebrity style on the red carpet starting at 6pm EST! Remember to check back here at TheFashion-Court.com after the show starts for recaps, fashion details, and verdicts. You can also find Globe style on Pinterest.com/TheFashionCourt and Facebook.com/TheFashionCourt!
they’re simply my personal “wishes” of what I’d like to see on the red carpet.
RUNWAY WISH: I think Tina looks amazing in romantic jewel tones, especially sapphire, which is why this scoop neck Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2015 gown would be a solid choice to highlight her curves and complexion. She did florals last year and a mixed pattern the year before, and both were dark based — fingers-crossed for color!
While it would not surprise me to see Amy in another lovely custom design, wouldn’t she also be sensational in this vibrant red Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2015 v-neck gown with a stunning embroidered lace bodice with three quarter sleeves? The answer is: Yes.
RUNWAY WISH: You never really know what to expect from Julianne, who is nominated in two leading categories, on the red carpet because she easily switches it up from daring to sultry to demure in an instant. I thought I’d combine all three by selecting this sparkling Chanel Fall 2014 Haute Couture silver sequin bustier gown and matching blazer. It’s a bold move, but I think Julianne would be up for the challenge.
RUNWAY WISH: Rosamund has been wearing a lot of prints lately, so with keeping that in mind I selected this pretty powder blue Gucci Pre-Fall 2015 gown with black and maroon scattered patterns and subtle sparkling embroideries. The “Gone Girl” nominee has a bob haircut that she often wears pinned up and I could imagine it looking beautiful with this wrapped high halterneck.
RUNWAY WISH: I’m so excited to see what Felicity is going to wear when she hits the red carpet to celebrate her leading role nomination for “The Theory of Everything”. The English beauty literally wears every silhouette well so I have zero doubts that she could pull off this Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2015 black ball gown beautifully. I mean, look at that stunning fully embroidered bodice! It’s a winner.
RUNWAY WISH: I imagine Reese taking on that old Hollywood glamour vibe this year since she did something a little more minimalist and sultry last time. She always looks wonderful in blue and doesn’t wear it on the red carpet nearly enough so, needless to say, I really want the “Wild” actress to arrive in this sky blue sequined bustier gown from the Elie Saab Fall 2014 Haute Couture collection. It even has extra bonus points for not appearing to be overwhelming for her petite frame.
RUNWAY WISH: Part of me picked this Valentino Sala Bianca Haute Couture dress for the “Cake” actress because I would love to see her not wear black this year, and the other part of me just wants Jennifer to embrace the current 90s style trend by returning to her trendsetting roots with this slinky minimalist number. This dress is practically perfect for her, amirite?
RUNWAY WISH: It might be hard to top Amy’s plunging neck red halter gown from last year, but I think this dark and romantic double layer Nina Ricci Spring 2015 gown would be a stellar follow-up for the “Big Eyes” nominated actress. Green or ruby jewels would accessorize beautifully.
RUNWAY WISH: Emily will be in attendance this year for her “Into the Woods” leading actress nomination. I like how she keeps it cool on the red carpet and straddles the line between modern edge and traditional cuts, which is why I’m eager to see her in this OSMAN Spring 2015 dress. I’m totally in love with the way the straps hang off the arms — it would certainly be a stand out moment for the English beauty.
RUNWAY WISH: When I was thinking about some of Jessica’s best award show looks from the past, one of my favorites was the streamlined cut of her 2013 Oscars gown. I would love to see her have a moment like that again with this fiery ombré Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2014 Haute Couture gown. The colors would also look so rich against her ginger tresses and fair complexion.
RUNWAY WISH: Keira, who is nominated for her supporting role in “The Imitation Game”, is a first time expectant mother now so I wanted to pick a dress that I felt supported her belly and stayed true to her classic style…obviously I turned to Valentino. I think this pale gold halterneck gown from the Sala Bianca Haute Couture line would look absolutely stunning on Keira; in fact, I think I may have gotten my hopes up way too high for it.
RUNWAY WISH: Meryl will be stepping out on the red carpet to celebrate the nomination for her role in Disney’s “Into The Woods”, and I’m really excited to see what she’s going to wear. I really want her to wear something colorful — especially after seeing her in that knock-out long-sleeve cobalt gown at the Kennedy Center Honors this past December (pictured above). My Golden Globes choice was a easy slam-dunk with this deep v turquoise ombré Elie Saab Spring 2015 pocket gown.
RUNWAY WISH: Emma is one of the actresses I’m most looking forward to seeing at the Globes this year, and I have high hopes for her dress. The “Birdman” actress tends to keep it a bit modest on the red carpet but considering she’s currently starring in “Cabaret” on Broadway, I thought it might be a little fun to pick something both super sultry and ultra-glamorous, which is why I opted for this pleated molten cinnamon plunging neck J. Mendel Pre-Fall 2015 gown.
RUNWAY WISH: Viola is celebrating her first Golden Globe nomination for a television role with her show “How to Get Away With Murder”. I really want her to wear something striking in color and I don’t often see her wear a lot of purple gowns, which is precisely why I selected this Badgley Mischka Pre-Fall 2015 gown. I love the structure, pattern and embellished belt, and I feel it would nicely highlight Viola’s toned curves arms.
RUNWAY WISH: While I’m still hoping to see the “House of Cards” actress in that black Ralph Lauren Resort halter gown from my Emmys wish list, I’m also crossing my fingers for this pale balsam green from Lauren’s Spring 2015 runway collection. The streamlined silhouette would cut a fine figure on Robin, but I think it’s clear that the pièce de résistance with this dress is the absolutely exquisite jewel embellished statement neckline. Robin NEEDS to wear this dress.
RUNWAY WISH: I always like when Claire wears bright block colors, but I couldn’t pass up including this J. Mendel Spring 2015 dress for her on my wish list. I absolutely adore the draping of the neckline and the smattering of yellow on the skirt. Wouldn’t this look pretty on the “Homeland” actress?
RUNWAY WISH: Ruth is still kind of fresh to the red carpet for a lot of people, but she already has a stylish history of constantly switching it up on the red carpet. She’s not predictable with her choices even if she sticks to some of the same few designers. I wouldn’t put it past “The Affair” star to show up at the Golden Globes to celebrate her nomination with this green lace embroidered Erdem Spring 2015 cocktail dress. In fact, I really like the idea of that.
RUNWAY WISH: I instantly wanted to see Julianna in this midnight v-neck Oscar de la Renta trumpet gown when I saw it debuted with the Pre-Fall 2015 collection, so it was my first and only choice for “The Good Wife” nominee when I made this list. I also love that the floral pattern on the skirt is bold without consuming the whole design.
RUNWAY WISH: Julia really stepped up her style game last year in her red form-fitting halter gown, so why not keep the momentum going with this equally flattering Reem Acra gown? This bright cobalt off-the-shoulder Pre-Fall 2015 design would certainly have the “Veep” nominee turning lots of heads.
RUNWAY WISH: Gina is nominated for her first Golden Globe thanks to her new CW series “Jane the Virgin”. I’m still getting acquainted with her red carpet style but with what she’s given us thus far, I’m convinced this soft pink v-neck Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2015 gown with scatters of raspberry embroideries would be right up her alley. I also think the delicate color would compliment her complexion and dark hair well.
