they’re simply my personal “wishes” of what I’d like to see on the red carpet.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Moschino or Michael Costello
RUNWAY WISH: As someone who shares her petite-ness, I imagine it’s quite the process for Ariana to find a gown that doesn’t overpower her body. A sleek column silhouette tends to be ideal for us short gals, and this Monique Lhuillier Resort 2015 gown has been a longtime favorite of mine. I love everything about this dress; from the semi-sheer layered effect to the deep navy tone and the stunning beadwork burst spanning throughout the design. I think it would fit Ariana well, and it would be a nice upgrade from the cutesy floral dress and white tights from last year. I’d like to see her try something new with her hair too, but if she should go for a ponytail…I hope it’s a low one.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Balmain or Saint Laurent
RUNWAY WISH: Jessie will be attending the Grammys this year because she’s nominated for her hit single “Bang Bang”, and I’m pretty eager to see what she’s going to wear. The English singer tends to favor a plunging v-neck, which is understandable because she wears them so well. I was torn between wanting to see her rock this red layered jumpsuit from the Balmain Spring 2015 collection and this shocking pink Emilio Pucci gown. Both would suit her fair complexion, shiny raven mane and statuesque figure. If I got my way, she’d wear the Pucci on the red carpet and change into the scarlet beauty for the rest of the show. Boom.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Alexander McQueen or Saint Laurent
RUNWAY WISH: Nicki’s been on a kick of wearing short dresses for award shows lately and she’s been picking some really good ones. While she may trade in her minis for a gown at the Grammys this year, I wouldn’t mind if the rapper continued her latest trend–with a little Balmain. This gorgeous fringed emerald dress instantly caught my eye when it debuted with the new Pre-Fall 2015 collection, and I think it would be ‘bangin’ on the nominee. Heh, get it?
DESIGNER PREDICTION: L.A.M.B., Versace or Balmain
RUNWAY WISH: I wouldn’t put it past Gwen to design something for herself like she did at the VMAs last summer, but I want her to wear this white plunging neck jumpsuit from Stephane Rolland‘s latest couture collection. I’m a sucker for a good jumpsuit—and this one is GREAT; I love the glittering silver belt and the asymmetric waterfall sleeves. I could see the No Doubt singer rocking this with a tight high ponytail or a knotted fauxhawk.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Alice + Olivia
RUNWAY WISH: I don’t believe I’ve ever seen Jhené wear Elie Saab but, after seeing this turquoise and orange fire and ice printed gown, I really want her to. The “Spotless Mind” singer has a really pretty spiritual vibe about her with a lot of bohemian influence in her wardrobe, so I think the elements featured along with the elegance of the silhouette would be so dreamy on her.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Roberto Cavalli
RUNWAY WISH: Miranda tends to wear custom dresses for the Grammys, but I included the Country singer on my wish list because I saw this shimmering Naeem Khan chevron gown and thought it would be a really beautiful choice for her. It’s a good balance of classic beauty with a punch of bold detail that would be well-suited for the ceremony.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Versace
RUNWAY WISH: I can’t imagine Mother Monster wearing any other designer but Versace, and if she does it will more than likely be something custom or a new Spring 2015 Haute Couture design. There are several dresses in the collection that she would (and will eventually) wear, but these two particularly stood out to me because I want Gaga to wear blue. As for the shimmering silver number, I’m not crazy about the risky placements of the sheer panels but I like the dress and feel it would be pretty on the singer.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad or Versace
RUNWAY WISH: Iggy is a huge fan of wearing Elie Saab gowns, and I always really like her choices. This black gown from the Spring 2015 runway collection was my first and only choice for her because I feel like the silhouette would flatter the Australian rapper and the intricate detail of the bodice reminds me of a web, which made me think of “Black Widow”.
Are you picking up what I’m putting down?
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Ted Baker or Badgley Mischka
RUNWAY WISH: I’ve never seen Meghan wear Elie Saab before so my wish is kind of out there, but that’s the beauty of a wish right? It can be whatever I want. The “All About That Bass” singer tends to favor a short cocktail dress with long sleeves, so that’s what inspired my pick from Saab’s Pre-Fall 2015 collection. This black lace beauty filled with colorful floral embroideries has a nice balance of edge and feminine flair, which I think it is perfect for Meghan.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Versace, Roberto Cavalli or Emilio Pucci
RUNWAY WISH: I really wanted to put a white dress for Miley because she’s been looking pretty fantastic lately in that bright monochrome look. However, it dawned on me that since she’s done it often recently…she’s probably due for a change. I’ve been obsessed with this Balmain black and yellow embellished halter dress with peekaboo panels for months now, and I’ve been waiting for someone to wear it. I hope the “Wrecking Ball” singer is that someone. If not, I most definitely have another dress in mind and that’s this absolutely gorgeous black sheer paneled gown from Alexandre Vauthier‘s Spring 2015 couture line. Take a moment and imagine her wearing it. You’re with me, right? Good.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Balmain, Tom Ford or Zac Posen
RUNWAY WISH: Forgive me for this overload but eenie-meenie-minie-mo didn’t work when trying to narrow down my wishes for the “FourFiveSeconds” singer. I think that Rihanna would turn heads in this single sleeved Tom Ford gown, but I also think the slinky silver Kaufmanfranco dress with shredded detail would look pretty dope on her as well. If RiRi is feeling really fancy, how amazing would it be if she hit the Grammys red carpet in this whimsical seafoam ballerina gown from Valentino? Let’s face it, she’d look great in all three. You know it, and I know it.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Elie Saab, Oscar de la Renta or Versace
RUNWAY WISH: I’m not sure how good the odds are of Katy wearing Valentino Couture two years in a row, but I couldn’t get past the fact that the sparkling rainbow detail of this dress reminded me of an iridescent prism and that’s kind of perfect considering the name of her nominated album, amirite? That easily sealed this wish for me.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: J. Mendel, Zuhair Murad or Elie Saab
RUNWAY WISH: I can’t remember a gown ever steering Taylor wrong, but ever since her romper moment at the Video Music Awards last summer I’ve been wanting to see her go full-out in a jumpsuit. If the “Blank Space” singer should do that at the Grammys, I hope she finds a mate with this Atelier Versace strapless one piece. Having said that, a gown is always a good idea too, and I think Taylor would stun in this shimmering J. Mendel crinkled red dress.
DESIGNER PREDICTION: Elie Saab, Tom Ford or Michael Costello
RUNWAY WISH: I had another case of indecisiveness when picking a dress for Beyoncé, and much like what happened with Jessie and Taylor–it came down between a jumpsuit and a gown. I felt like I had emoji hearts in my eyes when I saw this glittering jumpsuit-gown-hybrid during Zuhair Murad‘s Spring 2015 couture debut and I knew I had to include it for Bey on my wish list. At the same time, I’m totally runway-crushing on this Alexandre Vauthier crystal and emerald embellished gown.
Can’t she just wear both?
