2011 Style Verdicts: Red Carpet Moments - The Innocent

2011 Style Verdicts: Red Carpet Moments – The Innocent

Every year there are many dresses that are beautiful, tons that are talked about, and a lot that get mixed reviews. It took a lot of nail biting to narrow down the top 15 that really stood out to me over the last year, but I think I picked some pretty ladies in beautiful gowns that got the red carpet treatment they deserved. 15. Jane Fonda in Emilio Pucci I'll kick this list off with Jane Fonda in this long-sleeve Emilio Pucci ivory dress at the Cannes Film Festival back in May. Someone needs to direct me to the fountain of youth and fitness that Jane is drinking from because she looks more amazing every year. This dress was originally seen with cutout details, but Jane added some modesty by filling in the gaps with lace. It was a fabulous fitting on her and just an all-around great moment.

Sometimes it's easier to pick out what I didn't like on the red carpet rather than what I loved. It seems as though more stars commit fashion crimes than not. I think I could have made it up to fifty with the amount of unlawful styles that occurred in 2011. Here's the final fifteen... 15. Jennifer Lopez in Gucci The pink overload that Jennifer Lopez had going on in head-to-toe Gucci at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala this year was just too much for me to look at. She's fierce, we all know that -- and she could definitely work a look from this collection -- this just wasn't her look. I appreciate that you can get away with more at this particular event than you can pretty much anywhere else, but I was really hoping for more from her. Thankfully her style was nearly flawless the rest of 2011.

2011 Style Verdicts: Best Dressed Blushing Brides

2011 was a huge year of wedding bliss! Among the many stars and royals celebrating their nuptials were Reese Witherspoon, Kate Moss, Kim Kardashian, Lily Aldridge, Miranda Lambert, Lily Allen, Anja Rubik, Abbey Clancy, Sofia Coppolla, Molly Sims, Charlene Wittstock, Princess Sophie of Isenburg, and of course Kate Middleton.

It was tough to narrow it down, but I think we could all agree that Kate Middleton's custom designed Alexander McQueen gown by Sarah Burton was a clear winner. Millions stayed up at bizarre hours just to watch the royal nuptials between the now Duchess of Cambrige and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.

2011 Style Verdicts: Red Carpet Moments – Male Suspects

It isn't always about the dresses or the shoes when it comes to looking your best on the red carpet -- it's also not always about the ladies. I'm constantly gushing about my love of menswear -- and thanks to the following fellas -- I got my fill of some great red carpet suits and well-groomed men this year.   10. Douglas Booth Model, and upcoming star of the "Romeo and Juliet" movie, Douglas Booth was a favorite of mine this year. He's always been slightly on my radar, but he really caught my eye when he attended the EvianVIP Suite at Wimbledon this past summer brightening up black jeans and a white tee with a pinstripe bright kelly green blazer. I love a man in color. He played it a bit neutral later on for the Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2012 fashion show in London. He, once again, wore black jeans and a low neck white tee --but, this time he dressed it up with a nice textured tan blazer cuffed to show off the white pinstripe interior detail. I love his choice of footwear! The brown and beige in his lace-ups made it all worthwhile.

2011 Style Verdicts: Best Dressed Red Carpet Correspondents

Award show night isn't always about the movies, music, or actors the ceremonies are celebrating -- it's also about the red carpet wardrobe moments! It's hard enough getting ready for the big night when all eyes are on you, but now imagine being surrounded by a swarm of A-listers that you're preparing to interview every sixty seconds while still looking your very best. These red carpet correspondents prove that they can compete with the best of them from the silver screen and stage when it comes to a little something called "glamor".   5. Giuliana Rancic in Julia Clancy E!'s Giuliana Rancic has had a difficult end of 2011 as she has been fighting breast cancer, but at the beginning of the year she was all smiles on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards. She looked stunning in a black strapless floor-length dress with a intricate pleated bodice designed by Julia Clancy. Giuliana finished off her look with lighter additions including pale pink stone drop earrings with lacquered nails and a glossy lip to match! Her hair was styled high in a teased up-do with swept bangs that were slightly curled at the end. I'm sending out best wishes for a better year for Giuliana and her family! Can't wait to see her on the carpet again soon.

Gimme Gimme Gimme: Fierce Fall 2011 Footwear

Everyone has their little fashion obsessions -- a particular item of clothing or an accessory they more of than anything else in their closet. For some, it's leather jackets or a cardigan in every color. For others it's jeans, scarves, or hats. For many -- it's shoes. You can count me in with the many because I am addicted to shoes.

When dressing I normally select my shoes and base my entire outfit around them instead of the opposite. It's something I picked up from my mother - she really does know best. I love all types of styles, but my favorite time of year for add on to my footwear collection is when those leaves start falling and people start setting out their pumpkins.

Typically I buy black boots because once I find a pair that fit really well and are comfortable to wear for long periods of time, I'll end up wearing them with everything and black tends to come in handy. That's not to say I don't love colorful or printed shoes because I have an unhealthy addicted to all things animal print, and sometimes I'll wear an "all black everything" outfit that requires a to-die-for pop of color that will brighten things up and make a bold statement.
