MY VERDICT: After a stunning red carpet moment last week, Ahna continued her stylish streak this morning at the photocall of “As I Lay Dying”; her second movie premiering at the Cannes Film Festival. The 28-year-old beauty kept it playful by opting for a fun yellow ruffled dress by Marni with delicate white and black floral patterns swirling throughout. I just adore how lively and unique this dress is while also perfectly suiting the beautiful French Riviera setting.

MY VERDICT: Marion kept comfortable under the hot sun at the Cannes Film Festival when she joined her costar Zoe Saldana for photocall to support their upcoming film “Blood Ties”. The 37-year-old actress showed off her long lean legs in a short teal paneled shift dress from Antonio Berardi which features a brilliant intricate embroidered nude panel at the back. This dress was originally presented with Berardi’s Fall 2013 collection paired with a skirt to increase the length. I prefer the shorter silhouette.

I’m not always a fan of nude pouts, but I can applaud the choice when it’s done right. Marion wore pointed toe neutral leather pumps that not only went nicely with the deep shade of blue-green, but it complimented the back detail. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Zoe Saldana ended her run on the “Star Trek Into Darkness” press tour by heading to the French Riviera to promote her upcoming movie “Blood Ties” with costar Marion Cotillard and director Guillaume Canet during the Cannes Film Festival. The 32-year-old actress looked beautiful in a Emanuel Ungaro black and white blouson sleeve top adorned with gold buttons at the wrist, which she partnered with a matching wrapped pokla-dot skirt that included more of the button detail traveling down the side.

MY VERDICT: After enjoying the party aspect of the Cannes Film Festival celebration, it was back to work for Rooney Mara when she attended the photocall for “Aint Them Bodies Saints” with costar Casey Affleck and writer/director David Lowery. The 28-year-old actress used the opportunity to figure out a new way to wear her favorite colors–black and white. Rooney arrived wearing a Christian Dior Fall 2013 pale grey bi-colored silk cape with antic rose silk bustier and navy blue denim wool skirt.

I’m kind of fascinated by the unique asymmetric design of both pieces, but more than that, I really love how it looks on Rooney. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: While his fiancée Miley Cyrus gets ready to rock the Billboard Music Awards this weekend with the debut of her new single, Liam Hemsworth met up with his “Catching Fire” costars Jennifer Lawrence and Sam Claflin for a press event and photocall to support the next installment of “The Hunger Games” series. The ultra-handsome Australian actor wore a Dolce & Gabbana white dress shirt tucked into black leather-belted charcoal flat front trousers.

A light dusting of scruff and neatly brushed hair helped complete his semi-casual look, which he finished with dapper shiny leather lace up shoes. I’m almost excited for Liam’s wardrobe for the press tour this fall as I am for Jennifer’s–especially after what I saw last year during the events for the first film.

MY VERDICT: We’re still about six months away from the theatrical release of “Catching Fire”, the second installment of “The Hunger Games” series, but we got our first taste of Jennifer Lawrence’s press tour style when she hit the Cannes Film Festival with her costars for an early press event and photocall. The 22-year-old face of the “Miss Dior” handbag line was dressed in one of the latest looks from Christian Dior, naturally.

Jen wore a fun black wool crochet bustier with exaggerated ruffles that was partnered with black wool pants, from the Fall 2013 collection, which she brightened up with a splash of color on her feet. I love the easiness of this outfit; she’s on the French Riviera doing daytime press and wants to be comfortable, but also elegant without losing her youthful attitude. MY VERDICT: For her second day at the Cannes Film Festival, Zhang Ziyi sparkled during a daytime Un Certain Regard jury photocall wearing a little couture. Zhang donned a shortened version of the gorgeous Giambattista Valli jade green cocktail dress with shimmering beaded appliqués settled over a watercolor floral patterned hoop skirt, from the designer’s Fall 2012 Haute Couture collection. I don’t normally like to see dresses disrupted so severely, but it was a wise decision to take the length off this particular dress considering Zhang’s small frame. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: For the photocall to support her new film “The Bling Ring”, Sofia Coppola kept her look casual with a touch of nautical influence. The director wore a black and white gingham Louis Vuitton short sleeve blouse with an attached loose black necktie and center placket. Sofia loosely tucked the top into straight leg black trousers and finished with a pair of strappy leather low-heeled ankle strap sandals.

She looked comfortable, and although the shirt could be tidied up a bit, it was still a well put together outfit. Sofia’s hair looked stylish in natural waves and she wore just enough makeup. A pop of color was, perhaps, unintentionally welcomed into her look with a matching coral manicure and pedicure. That’s my favorite nail color of the spring season.

MY VERDICT: The cast of the “The Bling Ring” was hitting all the right marks when it came to looking young, hip, and totally Cannes-ready today. Katie Chang joined her stylish costars Emma Watson, Claire Julien, and Taissa Farmiga for the late morning photocall on the French Riviera wearing a pale gold a-line silk duchesse dress by Jill Stuart with a fun black optical stripe pattern. The Fall 2013 dress was perfect for the daytime event, but added a little youthful edge–especially with her shoes.

Katie slipped on a pair of crisscross black leather platform sandals to coordinate.

Softly curled tresses and just a touch of makeup provided her finishing touches.

WHERE & WHEN: “The Bling Ring” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Photocall on May 16, 2013.

MY VERDICT: Claire Julien joined her crew from “The Bling Ring”, including castmates Emma Watson and Taissa Farmiga, today for the Cannes Film Festival photocall for the film directed by Sofia Coppola. The blonde actress opted for a trendy white-on-white look today; a white diamond pattern crotchet halter crop top and matching a-line skirt by Balmain, from the Spring 2013 collection.

I feel like the top and skirt were totally on point with the setting, but the rest of the outfit could have used a little tweaking. Claire added a tiny bit of color with an emerald Danielle Queller ring, but the white platform shoes just looked too chalky and clunky. They weren’t a terrible choice, but something with less weight–or even a pop of color, could’ve improved the overall appearance.

Claire’s minimal makeup was a wise decision, but a high ponytail or low side braid would have been fun.
