Jessica Chastain in Viktor & Rolf | 2011 TIFF Premiere – “Coriolanus”

Jessica Chastain in Viktor & Rolf | 2011 TIFF Premiere - 'Coriolanus'

I didn’t think it would happen. Nine times out of ten, when I absolutely love a gown I’ve seen on the runway or in a lookbook that’s as far as it goes. It never sees a red carpet, and sometimes not even an editorial.

But it happened this time when Jessica Chastain wore one of my most favorite resort 2012 dresses by Viktor & Rolf to the TIFF premiere of her film “Coriolanus”.

This look has most definitely gotten some mixed reviews all ready. While some love it, others thing it washed her out and wasn’t fit properly. I adore this dress for her, but I really wish a few modifications had been made.

For starters, the delicate fall of one of the straps against her arm as pictured on the model was needed. I also believe a softer lip and her hair loose would have been less harsh.

Jessica wore the amazing “Zafira” Swarovski embroidered black sandals by Jimmy Choo which matched fabulously with the belt.

Andrea Riseborough in Dolce & Gabbana | 2011 TIFF Premiere – “W.E.”

Andrea Riseborough in Dolce & Gabbana | 2011 TIFF Premiere - 'W.E.'

I’m a huge fan of the Dolce & Gabbana fall collection, you can probably tell that by my rave reviews of Evan Rachel Wood’s menswear looks. If you follow me on Twitter than you should really know how much I love it.

Andrea Riseborough attended the TIFF premiere of “W.E.” tonight in one of my favorite dresses from the collection that unfortunately fell flat. Andrea is beautiful and the sequined emerald dress is gorgeous, but somehow it just didn’t work. Judging from photos I’ve seen – if it’s not due to the camera angle – the dress is too big and too long for her. I suppose if it was nipped a bit closer to her waist, under her arms and then brought up an inch or two, we’d have better results.

With that aside, Andrea looked as radiant as ever and that is still my one of my favorite Dolce & Gabbana dresses. Andrea’s pumps were the “Bianca” platforms by Christian Louboutin.

Anna Kendrick in Oscar de la Renta | 2011 TIFF Premiere – “50/50″

Anna Kendrick in Oscar de la Renta | 2011 TIFF Premiere - '50/50'

Anna Kendrick was having a bit of a “fashion marathon” during the promotional road to the 2010 Oscars, for which she was nominated for her role in “Up in the Air”. The otherwise naturally casual Anna was rocking some serious runway looks and becoming one of my favorite ladies to watch for. Lately Anna has been playing it safe on the carpet with pretty dresses, but nothing has stood out to me.

Last night I was wowed when Anna wore one of my favorite dresses from the resort 2012 collection by Oscar de la Renta. I love the aqua color and balloon skirt of the airbrush and threadwork guitariste embroidered dress.

I do have some critiques as I believe she could have benefited from some tailoring so that the dress better fit her petite frame. I think that perhaps black sandals were in order instead of pumps and I’ve never been one for handles on clutches, so I’m not on board with the Judith Leiber clutch.

While it was far from perfect, I adored this selection for the premiere of her movie “50/50″ at the Toronto International Film Festival. Hopefully Anna is heading back in the right direction — this was definitely a good start.

Abbie Cornish in Elie Saab | 2011 TIFF Premiere – “W.E.”

Abbie Cornish in Elie Saab | 2011 TIFF Premiere - 'W.E.'

Abbie wore vintage Elie Saab. Sigh.

If I’m having a bad day, sometimes it can all turn around with the simple mention of “did you see so-and-so wearing Elie Saab?” It’s like Starbucks. Instant pick-me-up.

Today was a pretty good day but infinitely perked up when Abbie Cornish attended the Toronto International Film Festival to premiere “W.E.” wearing this gorgeous ivory beaded gown.

Recent collections have been knock-outs, but Abbie went back to the spring 2009 ready-to-wear collection to show off this beauty, and show it off she did. The wind must have been flowing just right because almost every photo shows it flowing around her like someone has a fan directly in front of her.

The combination of the dress color against her complexion was only complimented further by her gorgeous pulled back waves and soft make-up. I have nothing but positive thoughts about this ethereal look for Abbie. So beautiful.

Abbie’s clutch is by Salvatore Ferragamo and jewelry by Bulgari.

Emily Blunt in Prada | 2011 TIFF Premiere – “Your Sister’s Sister”

Emily Blunt in Prada | 2011 TIFF Premiere - 'Your Sister's Sister'

Emily Blunt stuck around another night at the Toronto International Film Festival to premiere her film “Your Sister’s Sister”. The 28-year-old actress arrived in a pink and black cady silk cap sleeve dress with a red bow waist and black suede double strap heels by Prada.

I loved the young and playfulness of the dress and I adore a good even if this one was a tad large. It probably wouldn’t have been my first choice for Emily, but I thought she looked lovely. I don’t have too much to say other than I want her shoes…immediately. They kind of made the whole look worthwhile for me — so chic.

Salma Hayek in Alexander McQueen | 2011 TIFF Premiere – “Americano”

Salma Hayek in Alexander McQueen | 2011 TIFF Premiere - 'Americano'

Salma Hayek is in Canada to present her movie “Americano” at the Toronto International Film Festival. Last night the actress attended the premiere wearing a nearly full look from the resort collection by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Salma definitely has the womanly curves to fill out the sheath dress featuring a snakeskin embroidery at the bust, an asymmetric hem to the skirt and cinched at the waist with a triple buckle belt. Unfortunately the tight fit of the dress caused unflattering tight ruching in her lower mid-section, but it’s slightly too loose at the arm opening, squeezing at the bust, and there are wrinkles. She just simply looks uncomfortable all together.

Another “don’t” would have to be the very high pompadour hair style, I would have loved to have seen the a little less volume and maybe a bouncy pony-tail for a youthful approach.

I’m a huge fan of the half-hidden slingback Giuseppe Zanotti pumps she wore, but I’m thinking a darker bronze shade would have complimented the darker hues of the details in her dress and belt. Salma’s outfit wouldn’t be complete without the McQueen clutch — who’d pass that up?

Michelle Monaghan in Prada | Coalition’s 2011 Spotlight Initative Awards

Michelle Monaghan in Prada | Coalition's 2011 Spotlight Initative Awards

I’ve been really loving Michelle Monaghan’s style on the red carpet lately. I can’t tell if her dresses are improving or if her new hairstyle is just making everything look cooler.

Last night Michelle attended the Coalition’s 2011 Spotlight Initiative Awards held during the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival wearing a black and white silk printed open-back dress by Prada that she paired with metallic purple platform sandals.

I probably never would have put the two together, but now that I’ve seen it…I kinda dig it.

Michelle is carrying a black duchesse clutch also by Prada.

Jessica Chastain in Yves Saint Laurent | Sony Pictures Classics 20th Anniversary Party

Jessica Chastain in Yves Saint Laurent | Sony Pictures Classics 20th Anniversary Party
Jessica Chastain has been taking TIFF by storm! When she’s not promoting her films, she’s enjoying the nightlife at some of the celebratory parties.

Last night Jessica joined her co-star from “The Help” Bryce Dallas Howard at Sony Pictures Classics 20th Anniversary Party where she wore a vintage cranberry jersey Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche plunge dress from Decades. I love this dress on her! I’m a huge fan of long-sleeve dresses, but the fiery red dress against her hair and that stunning plunging necklace fastened at the waist with the gold branch Goossens brooch is stunning.

I wish I could see the shoes she wore to compliment this look.

Sarah Paulson in Marc Jacobs | 2011 TIFF Premiere – “Martha Marcy May Marlene”

Sarah Paulson in Marc Jacobs | 2011 TIFF Premiere - 'Martha Marcy May Marlene'

Sarah Paulson was obviously going for a comfortable fun look tonight at the TIFF premiere of “Martha Marcy May Marlene” premiere when the actress arrived on the red carpet in a vibrant purple Marc Jacobs organza dress.

The beauty of wearing this dress that has many folds in the crinkle design is that it already has a “wrinkled look” and you can feel pretty confident in front of the cameras that you don’t have any faux pas going on. I love the young feel Sarah brought to the party dress with her rose gold hoop earrings, casual hair, light make-up and her satin “Marcela” pumps by Brian Atwood.

Madeline Carroll in Christian Louboutin | 2011 TIFF Premiere – “Machine Gun Preacher”

Madeline Carroll in Christian Louboutin | 2011 TIFF Premiere - 'Machine Gun Preacher'

I officially want to be Madeline Carroll’s new best friend that she shares her shoes with. The young actress attended the premiere of her movie “Machine Gun Preacher” tonight during the Toronto International Film Festival wearing the ultra ah-maz-ing “Ziggy” boots by Christian Louboutin.

I’ve had my eyes on these babies lately. The zig-zag design, funky colors, and glittery fabric easily put them at the top of the wish list for any true fashionista. | continue reading..
