Mia Wasikowska in Miu Miu | 2011 AFI FEST Premiere – “Shame”

On Wednesday night, Mia Wasikowska supported her former “Jane Eyre”  co-star Michael Fassbender at the red carpet screening of his film “Shame” held during the 2011 AFI FEST in Hollywood.

For the evening, Mia selected a burgundy duchesse seta dress by Miu Miu that she paired with Prada suede amarena platform pumps and a raso ardesia clutch.

Whoever was photographing her did a really bad job — her body looks so awkward in this. It’s shortened while other parts are longer and it’s throwing off the entire look of her outfit. Because of that — while I adore the color of this dress and the design, I’m not sure I think Mia really pulled it off.

My least favorite part of the whole look was – not only the lack of jewelry – but that curly flipped piece of hair.

I don’t understand this hairstyle.

Jennifer Garner in Lanvin | AFI FEST 2011 Premiere – “Butter”

A very pregnant Jennifer Garner stepped out for the special screening of “Butter” last night at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre during AFI FEST 2011 in Los Angeles.

The 39-year-old actress wore a one shoulder layered dark dress from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection by Lanvin.

I can appreciate her wanting to be comfortable; I’ve never had children but I don’t doubt that there’s a very real point where you don’t want anything binding you.

I don’t really like the dress on her because I think the way it’s cut makes her knees look really awkward. There is also a tremendous amount of wrinkles which disrupts the look entirely.

Jennifer also accessorized with pieces from the collection. She’s carried a satin mustard large “Happy” clutch and is wearing black satin pumps adorned with a thick ankle strap.

Olivia Wilde attended the special screening of her movie “Butter” last night during AFI FEST 2011 at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre wearing a spring look from Louis Vuitton.

She selected Look 4, the white broiderie anglaise pencil dress encased under a sheer peach sleeveless overlay. Olivia looked really nice in this dress — and it fit well. In fact, she looked very reminiscent of the model from the catwalk. | continue reading..

Kirsten Dunst in Dolce & Gabbana | AFI FEST 2011 Premiere – “Melancholia”

I was so pleasantly surprised last night when I saw these photos emerge of Kirsten Dunst wearing one of my favorite dress from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection by Dolce & Gabbana.

The 29-year-old actress donned the tomato printed dress to the special screening of her film “Melancholia” which was held at the Eyptian Theatre during AFI FEST 2011.

This is a much better look for her after that leather incident, but it could’ve still benefited from some improvement. Because of the longer length on Kirsten than on the model, it actually looked a little big on her. I really wish they had shortened it to middle of her calves

There’s a real 1950′s feel about this, but I like it. She’s like first season Bree Van de Kamp from “Desperate Housewives” gone Hollywood.

Kristen wore strappy sandals – also by Dolce & Gabbana, and jewelry from Van Cleef & Arpels.

Love the hair and make-up!

Michelle Williams in Oscar de la Renta | AFI FEST 2011 Premiere – “My Week With Marilyn”

Michelle Williams was a golden girl last night at the AFI FEST 2011 special screening of her new movie “My Week With Marilyn” at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre wearing Oscar de la Renta.

Michelle wore a pale gold strapless tulle tea-length dress with a sweetheart neckline and full skirt. This look comes from the Resort 2012 collection, but was not seen on the runway. You can pre-order it now at Saks Fifth Avenue.

The dress is pretty and Michelle looked beautiful, but man do I wish this look wasn’t so simple. It’s one of those “it’s not bad, but it’s not great” moments. There’s not a flaw with this look other than the fact of it being a tad boring. | continue reading..

Evan Rachel Wood in Christian Dior | AFI FEST 2011 – LA Times Young Hollywood Roundtable

While Kirsten Dunst was causing havoc on the red carpet at the LA Times Young Hollywood Roundtable during AFI FEST 2011 — Evan Rachel Wood…wasn’t.

But, just barely.

The 24-year-old star wore a Christian Dior flannel grey short sleeve cocktail dress with black buttons lining the sleeves and slant pockets on the skirt.

I’m going to be honest here — while it’s not bad, it looks like she’s attending a business lunch instead of AFI FEST.

Evan had such a great run while promoting “The Ides of March”, I’m wondering how she could fall back to this. It wasn’t ugly — just totally boring.

Her hair and simple Salvatore Ferragamo double platform satin pumps didn’t help much either.

Oh Kiki, what  happened boo?

She’s not wearing a bra. She needs one.

An angry cat attacked. Hair first.

Then someone went… and put dark red lipstick on her.

Good lawd.

The amazing leather dress is by Derek Lam, from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

The insane open toe booties are Chanel.

The rest…is Kirsten Dunst’s fault.

FYI – this disastrous moment occurred at the LA Times Young Hollywood Roundtable, which was held at the Mann Chinese 6 theater during AFI FEST 2011 last night.

Naomi Watts in Stella McCartney | AFI FEST 2011 Opening Night Premiere – “J. Edgar”

Naomi Watts arrived with Liev Schreiber (not pictured) at the opening night gala during the AFI FEST for the premiere of “J. Edgar” held at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Unlike Hilary Swank — Naomi actually looked like she was going to a premiere. In fact, she was almost ready for an award show. Was her pretty Stella McCartney sequin dove grey v-neck gown with a double thigh high slit a bit too much?

The jury is still out on that one, but I know I like the dress.

I’m not too thrilled with that heavy rose gold necklace, she didn’t need it. A long, delicate silver necklace would have been ideal if she wanted to wear one. Either way, a heavy necklace or multiple chains distracts from the sheer insets at her deep v-neckline.

Her make-up was light and classy… aside from pretty a deep rosy lippe. I’m loving her side-parted smooth hair with waves just at the end. I wonder if her hairstylist knows Amanda Seyfried’s

Naomi didn’t hold back when it came to her footwear. She finished her look with sparkly t-strap sandals.

Hilary Swank in Givenchy | AFI FEST 2011 Opening Night Premiere – “J. Edgar”

The long awaited premiere of “J. Edgar” kicked off the AFI FEST during the opening night gala last night at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, and Hilary Swank arrived in a multi-zipperd white dress by Givenchy.

Okay, so the dress – from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection – is really cool; I especially love the zips at the sleeves and waist.

But honestly?

The dress has no shape on her at all; she looks as stiff as a board.

As for her beauty details, the top part of her hair looks dirty and flat while the rest of it is pretty and wavy.

On top of it all – considering her zippers are gold, and possibilities were endless – why in the world did she wear really pointy black patent pumps?

Totally confused by this look.
