MY VERDICT: Nicole joined her fellow jury members–including Cannes Jury President Steven Spielberg, this morning for the annual jury photocall held to kick off the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival. The “Paperboy” actress kept it simple, yet, glamorous in a black silk knee-length cocktail dress from the Fall 2013 collection by Alexander McQueen, which features a squared neckline with a notched center and full bell sleeves. When this dress was originally presented in white, it definitely needed a belt, but I believe the smooth canvas was better suited for Nicole’s figure as well as with the daytime event. | continue reading..

WHO: Mila Kunis
WHERE & WHEN: “Oz: The Great and Powerful” London premiere on February 28, 2013.

MY VERDICT: I had been hoping to see Mila save an emerald green gown for the major London premiere of “Oz: The Great and Powerful”—but, she turned to a smoky grey.  The 29-year-old actress posed on the green turf rug in a tiered fishnet strapless gown by Alexander McQueen, but thankfully, she accessorized with gorgeous emerald gems on her ears and finger that were created by Alexandra Mor and Dominic Jones, exclusively for Gemfields.

The dress is sweet and it fit Mila well, but it was kind of anticlimactic when you take into account her last two premiere dresses.  | continue reading..

WHO: Eddie Redmayne
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Alexander McQueen

MY VERDICT: Eddie looked adorably dashing on the red carpet when he turned up in a suave black tuxedo from Alexander McQueen.  I can’t say I wasn’t hoping to see him turn it out in something bold like he did with the brown suit at the SAG Awards, but I also can’t deny that Eddie does classic so well.  I love the arched lapels on the jacket, his elegant formal bow-tie, and the pièce de résistance —velvet evening loafers!  Well done, Mr. Redmayne.

WHO: Salma Hayek
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: Alexander McQueen

MY VERDICT: Salma rocked some cool head-to-toe Alexander McQueen this year at the Indie Spirit Awards! The beautiful actress stepped out on the breezy pink carpet on Santa Monica Beach wearing a textured fit-and-flare ivory long sleeve dress from the Pre-Autumn/Winter 2013 collection with a black leather belt to match her “DeManta” folded oversize clutch and gold studded open toe pumps. I can’t get over what a flattering fit this dress was on Salma, it’s like it was made to accentuate her curves;  it fell just above her knee, which I’ve always found to be the most flattering length on most women.

WHERE & WHEN: Clive Davis & The Recording Academy’s 2013 Pre-GRAMMY Gala and Salute to Industry Icons honoring Antonio “L.A.” Reid on February 9, 2013.

MY VERDICT: Jordin hit Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammys bash in a sexy ruched silk teal Roberto Cavalli dress with a high slit in the front and a black sequin trim lace panel inset framing the deep v-neckline.  Jennifer Garner wore this to a premiere of “Argo” late last year, but I have to go #TeamJordin on this one.  I’m such a fan of her in this color!  I think the rich blue-green really flatters Jordin’s complexion and raven hair; it’s a dark color that actually brightens up on her.  A low twisted chignon hairstyle let the lace detail take center stage, while the opening in the skirt allowed for Jordin to show off her black strappy Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.  She finished with smoky eyes, onyx drop earrings and a black crystal-encrusted Alexander McQueen Union Jack minaudière. | continue reading..

WHERE & WHEN: 2013 MusiCares Person Of The Year Gala Honoring Bruce Springsteen on February 8, 2013.

MY VERDICT: Katy shined bright in tangerine when she stepped out on the red carpet for the annual pre-Grammys MusiCares Person Of The Year Gala, which honored Bruce Springsteen.  The “Wide Awake” singer allowed for her raven black long curls to stand out while flaunting her famous curves in a high neck Alexander McQueen gown, from the Resort 2013 collection.  The smooth backless design features a glittering gorgeous multicolor crystal neckline, which dubs as a necklace.  Emily Blunt wore this back in October, and while I liked the dress on the actress, I was disappointed with the lack of the belt.  In Katy’s case, I’m actually glad she passed on it as I feel like it would have truncated her body considering her larger bust. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Rooney rocked a brand new look from Alexander McQueen when she attended the New York premiere of her new movie “Side Effects”.  The 27-year-old actress selected the long sleeve layered white dress from the Pre-Fall 2013 collection with all-over lace embroidered panels, including heavier 3D detail at the shoulders.  I see that Rooney wanted to keep the look soft, and therefore she opted out of the black belt and matching shoes, however I do wish she had worn a much more interesting shoe than her neutral Nicholas Kirkwood pumps.  It’s not so much the nude color that’s boring me as it is the open toe slingback. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: On the bright side, Jessica’s strapless red Alexander McQueen gown was a grand improvement over her Golden Globes look. However, it still failed to live up to what I thought we’d be seeing from the “Zero Dark Thirty” star this awards season.  The dress is very pretty, I especially love the crossover detail at the bodice, but it just didn’t have the spark I was hoping for.  Regardless, she’s still beautiful and I loved her “Splash” diamond necklace from the Water by Harry Winston collection. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: For the Kids’ Inaugural: Our Children, Our Future concert to celebrate military families, our First Lady opted for an Alexander McQueen suit ensemble. Mrs. O spoke on-stage wearing a white asymmetric tunic and black straight leg from the Resort 2011 collection, which just so happens to be an outfit she’s apparently very fond—she has been seen wearing it once before while meeting with students at the University of Oxford. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Continuing forward on her stylish streak, Emily looked fabulous in the black peplum Alexander McQueen gown.  I adore the polished square neckline and sassy split open back.  With such a subtle and no-fuss sexiness, I like that the “Looper” star accessorized simply with a diamond bracelet, matching stud earrings and a wide black belt—finally, the belt!  She completed her look with a coral lip color and a simple twisted up-do.
