WHERE & WHEN: 29th Annual Television Critics Association Awards on August 3, 2013.
WEARING: Jason Wu
MY VERDICT: J.Lo hit the red carpet wearing gown to make it appear as though her body was only covered in lace. Are you surprised? The singer flaunted her famous curves in a long-sleeve silk gown from the Spring 2013 collection by Zuhair Murad, which features an ivory embroidered lace overlay with beading detail. While it may feel like we saw one sheer-and-lace dress right after the other this last year (I’m talking to you, Kristen Stewart), we must remember that Jennifer practically kicked started the trend at the Academy Awards last winter. I didn’t really liked the sides of the dress because it was mostly bare nude lining, but the front was pretty. Regardless, she pulls it off—even if I’m bored with the trend. | continue reading..
MY VERDICT: All eyes probably weren’t supposed to be on the “Mad Max: Fury Road” star when she attended the Golden Globes last night, but when you step out and kill it in a dress like the one she wore, how could one not stop and take notice? The 25-year-old model turned actress struck a pose in a high neck, open back black silk gown by Saint Laurent with a pussy bow at the neck, a wide leather belt, and a high slit to show off her YSL shoes. Rosie stylishly accessorized with Norman Silverman and Dana Rebecca rings, which included the “Sophia Ryan” and the “Bridal Shared Prong Eternity Band” from the latter label. | continue reading..
MY VERDICT: I think Sienna actually looks even more beautiful than she did before she gave birth to her daughter Marlowe last year. The 31-year-old English actress looked so lovely in her colorful flower appliqué Erdem gown last night. This crop top and column full-length skirt was custom made for Sienna, but was inspired by the designs featured in the Spring 2013 collection. Considering we’re in the heart of the coldest time of the year right now, the spring vibe from Sienna’s look just further increased my impatience for the warmer days ahead. With a swept up hairstyle and soft makeup, her pretty look was complete.
MY VERDICT: I just love this blue on the “Modern Family” star! I’m not usually into this intense floaty caftan silhouette, but there’s something about the way the fabric of her asymmetric Halston dress fell off the shoulder, that loosely swept up hair and those gorgeous statement earrings that made it just seem not so bad. Julie’s accessories perfectly matched; she layered on rosecut diamond bangles that complimented her peach moonstone and rosecut diamond earrings–all from Bavna. The shimmering color and detail of the baubles made them the perfect partners to the glittered open toe Christian Louboutin pumps that she wore.
MY VERDICT: Amy wore one of the best dresses of the night—but, in the wrong color. I can’t say that I was digging the shade of her totally pale ballet pink custom-made Marchesa mermaid gown. That kind of bums me out considering I loved the silhouette on her and that beautiful retro gathered pin-wave hairstyle. She accessorized with statement diamond earrings and matching bracelets, which I certainly preferred over opting for a necklace, despite the bare neck and shoulders.
MY VERDICT: The “Smash” actress looked beautiful on the red carpet for the Golden Globes this year when she arrived at the gala wearing a glamorous Donna Karan Collection gown. Debra slipped into the strapless black silk organza hand ruched gown from the designer’s Resort 2013 collection. With a swept up mane, Debra completed her look by piling on gorgeous jewelry; including earrings and a bracelet from Samira 13 as well as a bracelet by Amrapali.
MY VERDICT: It was so nice to see Adele back out on the red carpet for the Golden Globes last night, but it was even better to see her snag a trophy of her own for the beautiful theme to “Skyfall” that she recorded. The new mama looked beautiful in her custom-made black Burberry gown, which featured flattering cropped long sleeves and an embroidered neck. With her signature heightened hair, cat-lined eyes and red talon nails in place, Adele completed her look with diamond jewelry and a pair of Miu Miu heels. I love her retro style; you really have to own it or else it looks forced and tacky. She emitted nothing but beauty and class.
MY VERDICT: I feel like scientific testing needs to be done on why Halle Berry doesn’t age. If there was anyone in the world I would want to know the beauty secrets of, it would be this woman. The gorgeous 46-year-old actress showed off her mega-watt smile and killer toned body in a single-shoulder colorful pink and coral printed gown from the Atelier Versace Fall 2012 collection. I wasn’t really into the style of this dress on the runway, but I can’t deny that Halle rocks it. Everything was working; smoky eyes, gold jewelry, and nd most of all—Halle’s ridiculously cool signature spiked hairstyle were the perfect finishing touches. I’m glad she didn’t wear those high strappy sandals as pale pink stilettos worked just fine. She’s such a beauty!
MY VERDICT: Stacy obviously attended the Globes last night as the date of George Glooney, but that didn’t stop her from upstaging several other ladies in her gorgeous strapless black velvet Armani Privé gown with metallic spaced stripes. I would say that the statuesque 33-year-old appeared like she stepped right off the runway, but she looked better than the model! There was a simplicity to this as Stacy didn’t wear overwhelming jewelry or do much with her hair; simply sleek tresses, diamond earrings and a black clutch helped her complete one stunner of a look.
FYI: George is also wearing Armani.
