MY VERDICT: Zhang was amongst the many stylish ladies celebrating the opening ceremony of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival tonight on the French Riviera. The Chinese actress posed for photographers at the premiere of “The Great Gatsby” wearing a stunning leaf green ball gown from the Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection by Ulyana Sergeenko, which features a sexy plunging neckline and off-the-shoulder straps that were clearly a throwback to the glamour of Scarlett O’Hara.

I’ve silently been hoping to see this beautiful dress on the red carpet, and Zhang not only made it a reality–finally–but, she also looked amazing in it. It’s so disappointing that rain drops attempted to disrupt this moment.

Zhang completed her practically flawless look with a sculpted old Hollywood up-do, a classic red matte pout, and diamond jewelry that perfectly matched her dazzling ruby-encrusted oval clutch.

MY VERDICT: Vahina looked beautiful in a cobalt blue dress on the red carpet for the premiere of “The Great Gatsby”, held during the opening night gala of the Cannes Film Festival. This full-length Elie Saab silk-chiffon gown comes from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection and features sexy sheer panels throughout the sophisticated draped sleeved design. While I was originally attracted to the navy version presented on the model with a gold belt, I can admit that this brighter shade and lack of waist accessory flattered both the French actresses’ complexion and curves.

Swept back hair, a matching bright blue minaudière, diamond jewelry and classic red lips completed her look.

WHO: Tanya Dziahileva

WEARING: Georges Hobeika Haute Couture dress, Tiffany & Co. jewelry

MY VERDICT: Tanya joined fellow model Cara Delevingne on the red carpet for the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival, but while Cara opted for dark drama–Tanya kept it bright and beautiful in a beaded white Georges Hobeika gown, from the Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection, with laser cut floral appliqués along the hem.

Feel like you’re having déjà vu? It may be because “Glee” star Jayma Mays wore the same gorgeous dress to the SAG Awards earlier this year. Both ladies looked lovely in the sleek gown and the styling suited the events for each, but I prefer Tanya’s side pinned full curls and the splash of color thanks to her burgundy stained lips.

MY VERDICT: I always look forward to seeing Naomie on the red carpet, and after that stellar “Skyfall” fashion tour–err, press tour late last year, I was excited to see her at the opening ceremony for the Cannes Film Festival. The English actress hit the red carpet for the premiere of “The Great Gatsby” wearing a shimmering silver strapless column gown by Calvin Klein that fit her like a glove. It wasn’t the most voluminous gown, but Naomie did what she does best and kept it classic with a silhouette that works for her—and she simply shined.

Naomie wore her long hair up to show off those toned shoulders before putting the finishing touches on the look with subtle silver eyeshadow, a red manicure, and a black clutch with metallic trim.

She makes it look so easy.

WHO: Florence Welch

WEARING: Miu Miu

MY VERDICT: Repping the music of “The Great Gatsby”, Florence Welch of the band Florence + the Machine celebrated the premiere of the movie during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony gala tonight in head-to-toe Miu Miu. The “Over the Love” singer hit the red carpet in a pink ensemble Barbie would pass out over from the Fall 2013 collection. The three-quarter sleeve silk taffeta dress features black polka dots and finishes with chantilly lace that stands out against the pastel canvas.

Frankly, a dress this ‘loud’ is a difficult one to pull off for even the biggest fashion overachiever, but leave it up to Florence to take it on anyway. It’s not my cup of tea, and while I want to think of it as a cool option for her–I think this is one of those times redheads should avoid pink. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Compared to Taylor’s mini and Alicia’s cutouts, Carly Rae opted for bit of a demure look when she attended the NRJ Music Awards last night when she stepped out on the red carpet in a brown satin and suede gown by IZMAYLOVA.  The panel pattern of this design is cool, but I wish she had brought a little color into the look with her jewelry or handbag. I liked her makeup a lot, and the way her hair is growing out is proving to be much more of a flattering look for her face compared to a few months ago.  Did you think this was a great dress for the “Call Me Maybe” singer?

MY VERDICT: I didn’t think I’d get to see this dress back out on the red carpet after Gwyneth Paltrow’s shortened version, but Alicia broke out some sexy Michael Kors cutouts last night for the NRJ Music Awards. I just love this crepe gown, the details are so cool; sexy and a little bit edgy. It’s a great design for a music event atmosphere, and I dig the little spin Alicia put on it with the black and white diamond short necklace to lay amongst the crewneck. With such a minimally accessorized look, I can’t help but be drawn to her hairstyle.  Looks like Alicia is still into rocking her new spin on a fauxhawk with her super short locks.

MY VERDICT: Another red carpet, another fantastic look for Miss Swift.  The “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer rocked the NRJ Music Awards last night at the Palais des Festivals when she arrived for the ceremony wearing a beautiful Elie Saab nude embellished cocktail dress from the designer’s Spring 2013 collection, which featured a plunging v-neck and, you know, long sleeves to keep warm. Although, I’m sure that didn’t work.

I’m not usually a cheerleader for nude dresses, but this one is a beauty.  Taylor complimented it well with Ofira statement earrings and gold sandals by Jimmy Choo.  Although these shoes feature both an ankle strap and a platform, they didn’t cut her legs off and they weren’t too heavy for the short frock.  It also helps that the satin fabric stopped the metallic color from being too harsh with an already embellished dress.  As for her hair? I still love this cut.

On her first trip to the Cannes Film Festival back in May to promote the Walter Salles film “On The Road”, KRISTEN STEWART took a dip in a roof top pool for a quickie photoshoot with Marie Claire Magazine during a busy day of interviews.

She was also joined by her male costars Garrett Hedlund and Sam Riley for a quite the smoldering shot. I mean, seriously, when my hair blows in my face and I try to adjust my sunglasses… I don’t look that good. I look insane.

But, this is K.Stew we’re talking about. She pulls it off.

The 22-year-old kept her trusty quilted Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière close by, but not totally on — it’s just kind of hanging over her shoulder and I’m digging it. | continue reading..
