Fan Bingbing in Elie Saab Couture | “Jeune & Jolie” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival

Fan Bingbing in Elie Saab Couture | 'Jeune & Jolie' Premiere - 2013 Cannes Film FestivalPhotos: Zimbio; Style.com
WHO: Fan Bingbing
WHERE & WHEN: “Jeune & Jolie” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Premiere on May 16, 2013.
WEARING: Elie Saab Haute Couture dress, Judith Leiber clutch & Chopard Fine Jewelry.

MY VERDICT: It was a bit sunnier tonight at the Cannes Film Festival, and part of that was due to the stunning butter yellow gown that Fan Bingbing wore the premiere of “Jeune & Jolie”. Fan glided gown the red carpet in a Elie Saab gown, from the designer’s Spring 2012 Haute Couture collection. The full skirt is obviously the major focal point of the dress, but the dazzling bead work of the three-quarter sleeve bodice doesn’t lack for luster either. What a beauty.

Fan accessorized her effortlessly glamorous ensemble with a Judith Leiber crystal clutch, Chopard heart-shaped diamond and briolette drop earrings, and a matching ring. An elegant up-do and fiery red lips were the finishing touches.

Taissa Farmiga in Valentino | “The Bling Ring” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival

WHO: Taissa Farmiga
WHERE & WHEN: “The Bling Ring” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Premiere on May 16, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino dress, Chopard jewelry

MY VERDICT: Taissa Farmiga kept it sweet in a simple belted white dress at “The Bling Ring” photocall held earlier today, but the 18-year-old added a bit of maturity to her style when she stepped out on the red carpet with her cast for the Cannes Film Festival premiere wearing a beautiful Valentino collared gown.

I didn’t really gravitate towards liking the recent bib designed dresses featured in the latest collections from the fashion house, but I did admire this Fall 2013 design. The full-length sleeveless black dress features matching beaded net detailing over the skirt as well as panels at the shoulders that sit above leather inserts and frame a beautiful white lace embroidered panel. Although it had a touch of vintage Victorian elegance, it was still pretty current and well-suited for a young actress like Taissa.

Side gathered tresses and delicate Chopard pear-shaped white gold diamond drop earrings helped complete Taissa’s look.

WHO: Paz Vega, Cindy Crawford & Georgia May Jagger
WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013.
WEARING: Roberto Cavalli

MY VERDICT: While there were a slew of pretty ladies wearing Dior Haute Couture on the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony premiere of “The Great Gatsby”, Roberto Cavalli had his own share of famous fans striking a pose in some of his most daring designs. I gathered the three ladies to give you a side-by-side comparison of each–very different–look. | continue reading..

Fan BingBing in Louis Vuitton | “The Great Gatsby” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

WHO: Fan Bingbing
WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013.
WEARING: Louis Vuitton dress, Chopard jewelry

MY VERDICT: One of the great things about the Cannes Film Festival is that you can always expect to see a variety of glamorous fashion moments from Fan Bingbing. The Chinese actress was on-hand for the opening ceremony premiere of “The Great Gatsby” where she wore a Louis Vuitton rose silk jacquard paisley strapless gown; the upper portion of the bustier is beautifully embroidered with sequins in degradé. This is a non-presented design from the Fall/Winter 2013-2014 collection.

The dress is beautiful, and it suited Fan without a doubt. Despite the rainy weather, Fan’s cascading jet black tresses were picture perfect in sculpted Veronica Lake-inspired waves. She finished off with cat-lined eyes, diamond jewelry from Chopard–including rose cut diamond drop earrings and a fancy cut white diamond bracelet, and a Louis Vuitton gold tassel minaudière.

Solange Knowles in Stéphane Rolland Couture | “The Great Gatsby” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

WHO: Solange Knowles
WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013.
WEARING: Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture dress, Chopard jewelry

MY VERDICT: Beyoncé may not have been at the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony premiere of “The Great Gatsby” as expected, but her sister Solange Knowles made it. The 26-year-old entertainer looked beautiful in Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture sand-colored long sleeve chiffon and jersey caped dress with ostrich feather embroidery, from the designer’s eclectic Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 collection.

I liked the dramatic impact that the dress made, and I’m glad that Solange opted for a thin gold belt over the heavier accessory seen on the run. I feel like the latter would have truncated her body a bit. She kept the focus on the dress–or better yet, how well she wore the dress, by leaving her hair natural and accessorizing with a pewter clutch, nude sandals, and Chopard white gold and titanium earrings with a matching ring.

Julianne Moore in Christian Dior Couture | “The Great Gatsby” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

WHO: Julianne Moore
WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior Haute Couture dress, Chopard jewelry

MY VERDICT: It looks like Dior dominated the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony this year. Julianne joined Nicole Kidman, Carey Mulligan and Zhang Ziyi in wearing a gown from the fashion house. The 52-year-old actress arrived for the premiere of “The Great Gatsby” wearing a purple lamé and black bustier evening dress. Although it’s not my ideal silhouette, color or style for Julianne, I still prefer it over the pale blue and silver version presented during the Spring 2013 Haute Couture fashion show.

Julianne styled her long ginger tresses partly to the side before finishing off with complimenting makeup, silver platform strappy sandals, and jewelry from Chopard—including an 18-karat white gold ring from the Precious Temptations Collection, set with a pear-shaped 14ct. rubellite tourmaline, amethysts and diamonds. She also wore a beautiful 57ct. white diamond necklace set in platinum, and a pair of 18-karat white gold diamond stud earrings.

WHO: Freida Pinto
WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013.
WEARING: Gucci dress, shoes and clutch & Chopard jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Freida added a splash of spring color to the red carpet at “The Great Gatsby” premiere, held during the opening ceremony of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. The actress and L’Oréal Ambassador wore a one-of-a-kind coral silk chiffon halter gown by Gucci with a matching coral, pink and gold fully embellished belt. Freida complimented the belt by wearing a matching pair of Gucci open toe gold “Phoebe” sandals that she showed off by gracefully angling the skirt of her gown. | continue reading..

Cara Delevingne in Burberry Prorsum | “The Great Gatsby” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

WHO: Cara Delevingne
WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013.
WEARING: Burberry Prorsum dress, Chopard jewelry

MY VERDICT: She’s two for two—and in the rain! Cara Delevingne followed up her amazing Burberry Prorsum MET Ball ensemble from last week with yet another red carpet winner at the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony gala premiere of “The Great Gastby”. The 20-year-old model posed for the crowds of photographers in the drizzling weather wearing a sleek custom-made black lace long sleeve gown, which features sheer panels at the sides, sleeves, and center plunging v-neckline.

There’s an element of danger to this that I really love, and it suits Cara’s adventurous attitude perfectly. With her long dark blonde tresses styled to the side in full waves—and rocking a brand new lion tattoo on her right index finger, Cara completed her look with dramatic ruby red lips, black platform pumps, and diamond Chopard Fine Jewelry.

Katy Perry in Thom Browne | “Killer Queen” Fragrance Sneak Preview Launch

Katy Perry in Thom Browne | Killer Queen Fragrance NYC LaunchPhotos: KatyFans; Style.com; Alice + Olivia
WHO: Katy Perry
WHERE & WHEN: Killer Queen by Katy Perry NYC fragrance launch on May 2, 2013.
WEARING: Thom Browne dress, Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet shoes, and jewelry from Chopard, Fenton-Fallon, Lorraine Schwartz & David Yurman.

MY VERDICT: While in New York City preparing for the annual MET Ball this upcoming Monday, Katy took the opportunity to promote her new fragrance “Killer Queen”. I can’t say that I’m surprised that the “Wide Awake” singer grabbed some inspiration from Marie Antoinette for her sneak preview event at the James B. Duke Mansion. Katy took a seat at her royal gold and crimson throne as she showed off a ‘killer’ red and white gingham strapless corset gown by Thom Browne, from the Fall 2013 collection, which featured a gorgeous rosette pattern that was complimented by eye-catching oversize beaded roses. I love the exaggerated detail at the hips, but it was really the glamorous raven ringlets and ruby accented jewelry that set the whole look off. There’s an element of ‘punk’ in this look that’s to the point of me wondering why she didn’t save this dress for the gala next week.

Katy finished with a pink-rose lip color and black “Dover” kid suede pumps by Alice + Olivia.

Fan Binging in Marchesa | 2013 Oscars

Fan Binging in Marchesa | 2013 OscarsPhotos: Zimbio; Style.com
WHO: Fan Bingbing
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Marchesa dress, Chopard jewelry

MY VERDICT: I guess there comes a time in a young woman’s life when she wants to live out her Barbie dream of wearing head-to-toe hot pink—centered around a full ball gown.  Fan Bingbing clearly experienced that this year at the Oscars when she hit the red carpet in a vibrant fuchsia asymmetric silk-satin gown by Marchesa with a matching fluro lip and pink Chopard jewels.  I thought her gems were beautiful, but this dress was one of those looks better left on the runway.  The little bits of the design that stuck out to me so much on the catwalk didn’t translate on Fan.  I also felt the lips to be a little too much, and the hair took it into Disney Princess territory—which is fine, if you’re a Disney princess.
