WHO: Jennifer Lawrence
WHERE & WHEN: “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Party on May 18, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior dress, Manolo Blahnik pumps, Bottega Veneta clutch & Chopard jewelry.

MY VERDICT: For only one day in Cannes, Jennifer Lawrence sure knows how to stylishly fill a few hours. The “Hunger Games” starlet hit the black carpet for a party to celebrate “Catching Fire”—the second installment of the movie series, where she rocked her third Christian Dior outfit! After going heavy with black for the previous two looks, Jen beautifully brightened up in a off white twill bustier cocktail dress from the Fall 2013 collection with a colorful Warhol “Femme Head 1958″ printed along the extended asymmetric panel of the skirt.

This is the length her premiere dress should have been as it’s much more flattering for her figure. | continue reading..

WHERE & WHEN: “Jimmy P. (Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian)” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Premiere on May 18, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior dress, Jimmy Choo shoes, Charlotte Olympia clutch & Chopard jewelry.

MY VERDICT: After an early day of press, Jennifer glamorously hit the red carpet with her “Catching Fire” costars to attend the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Benicio Del Toro’s new movie “Jimmy P. (Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian)”. For her second Christian Dior look of the day, the Oscar winner wore a two-tone twill bustier evening gown, which featured a white bodice and black asymmetric skirt; this is a modified version of Look 1 that was presented during Dior’s Fall 2013 fashion show.

Although this was a pretty dress for Jen, I think she could have gotten away with the runway version; I prefer it with a few inches off the skirt, and the original certainly wasn’t too short for this particular event. | continue reading..

WHO: Jennifer Lawrence
WHERE & WHEN: “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Photocall on May 18, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior top and pants, Manolo Blahnik pumps & Chopard jewelry.

MY VERDICT: We’re still about six months away from the theatrical release of “Catching Fire”, the second installment of “The Hunger Games” series, but we got our first taste of Jennifer Lawrence’s press tour style when she hit the Cannes Film Festival with her costars for an early press event and photocall. The 22-year-old face of the “Miss Dior” handbag line was dressed in one of the latest looks from Christian Dior, naturally.

Jen wore a fun black wool crochet bustier with exaggerated ruffles that was partnered with black wool pants, from the Fall 2013 collection, which she brightened up with a splash of color on her feet. I love the easiness of this outfit; she’s on the French Riviera doing daytime press and wants to be comfortable, but also elegant without losing her youthful attitude. I think Jennifer nailed it. | continue reading..

Katie Chang in Christian Dior | “The Bling Ring” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival

WHO: Katie Chang
WHERE & WHEN: “The Bling Ring” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Premiere on May 16, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior dress, and jewelry from Dior Fine Jewelry & Swarovski.

MY VERDICT: Did the cast of “The Bling Ring” plan ahead to coordinate their outfits at the Cannes Film Festival premiere? Katie Chang joined her costars Taissa Farmiga, Emma Watson, and even their director Sofia Coppola in black-and-white ensembles.

The young actress looked ethereal in a beautiful Christian Dior white silk crepe gown with a woven black sash belt.

Katie wore her long curls up into an elegant rolled up-do that she accented with dazzling Swarovski crystal “Valora” brooches. These sparkling appliqués matched Katie’s Dior Fine Jewelry, which included “Bagatelle” white gold and diamonds earrings, and the “Oui” white gold, diamonds and aquamarine ring. Subtle makeup and a Dior clutch completed her premiere look.

Julianne Moore in Christian Dior Couture | “The Great Gatsby” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

WHO: Julianne Moore
WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior Haute Couture dress, Chopard jewelry

MY VERDICT: It looks like Dior dominated the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony this year. Julianne joined Nicole Kidman, Carey Mulligan and Zhang Ziyi in wearing a gown from the fashion house. The 52-year-old actress arrived for the premiere of “The Great Gatsby” wearing a purple lamé and black bustier evening dress. Although it’s not my ideal silhouette, color or style for Julianne, I still prefer it over the pale blue and silver version presented during the Spring 2013 Haute Couture fashion show.

Julianne styled her long ginger tresses partly to the side before finishing off with complimenting makeup, silver platform strappy sandals, and jewelry from Chopard—including an 18-karat white gold ring from the Precious Temptations Collection, set with a pear-shaped 14ct. rubellite tourmaline, amethysts and diamonds. She also wore a beautiful 57ct. white diamond necklace set in platinum, and a pair of 18-karat white gold diamond stud earrings.

Carey Mulligan in Christian Dior Couture | “The Great Gatsby” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

WHO: Carey Mulligan
WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior Haute Couture dress, Salvatore Ferragamo shoes & Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

MY VERDICT: It’s only the first day of the Cannes Film Festival, and I’m already shocked by a wardrobe choice. I had Carey Mulligan pegged for wearing a certain designer at “The Great Gatsby” premiere, but the English actress joined director Baz Luhrmann and her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio at the opening ceremony wearing a Dior Haute Couture blush matte satin duchesse gown, which features a plunging v-neckline. I’m so use to black and red dresses on Carey that this was a surprise.

The dress is pretty, albeit too light for her.

There’s something about this that makes me want to relate the hair, makeup, and dress to Gwyneth Paltrow. It would have been nice to see Carey make this big departure and not have it compared to someone else, but it’s kind of impossible for me not to. | continue reading..

Nicole Kidman in Christian Dior Couture | “The Great Gatsby” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

WHO: Nicole Kidman
WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior Haute Couture

MY VERDICT: After sticking with a little black dress earlier in the day for the jury press conference, Nicole stepped out on the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony premiere of “The Great Gatsby” wearing a very colorful Christian Dior tea-length gown. The Australian actress selected the strapless two layered embroidered pale pink silk organza bustier evening dress from the Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection.

This was the dress I admired most from the line because of the unique beaded pattern arrangement and the vibrant spring shades—especially the brighter detailing on the bodice and hem as it frames softer tones.

Nicole was obviously inspired by the colors used as she slipped on a bright pair of Dior pointed toe coral pumps and added a darker shade on her lips. An interesting side-tucked ponytail and diamond stud earrings helped her complete the look.

Zhang Ziyi in Christian Dior Couture | “The Great Gatsby” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

WHO: Zhang Ziyi
WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior Haute Couture

MY VERDICT: I wasn’t expecting ladies in pantsuits for the Cannes opening ceremony, but I have to admit that I’m digging what Zhang Ziyi wore for the premiere of “The Great Gatsby” tonight. Zhang arrived on the red carpet in the Dior fuchsia embroidered tulle cut-off ball gown and navy blue wool cigarette pants from the Fall 2012 Haute Couture line. Although the top was presented without any accessories, I applaud the addition of the gold metallic belt.

The design was inspired by the “Esther” dress from the Autumn/Winter 1952 Haute Couture collection.

With her pixie-cut black tresses brushed to the front in an effort to compliment the edgy feel of her outfit, Zhang completed her look with pink stone statement earrings, a navy silk duchesse clutch and a pair of black panel Christian Louboutin pumps.

Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior Couture | MET Gala 2013

WHO: Marion Cotillard
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala – PUNK: Chaos to Couture on May 6, 2013.
WEARING: Head-to-toe Christian Dior Haute Couture

MY VERDICT: Hmm, I wasn’t expecting this. I didn’t think Marion would stick to the “punk” theme too closely, but I didn’t think she would ignore it completely. I think I may have psyched myself up with my wish list picks because a soft pastel strapless asymmetric cocktail dress was a major let-down. It’s funny because, on a normal day, I would probably love this Dior Haute Couture light pink, coral and yellow silk and tulle bustier cocktail dress on her. This just wasn’t the time nor place.

Marion tried to do something with her edgy by having it styled in angled bouncy curls. She finished off her look with red nails, soft makeup, a white clutch and a pair of houndstooth ankle strap pumps—both also by Dior.

Yep, no punk in sight. I dig her rose gold earrings though.

WHO: Jennifer Lawrence
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala – PUNK: Chaos to Couture on May 6, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior dress, clutch, and Dior Fine Jewelry, Brian Atwood shoes & a Jennifer Behr Headpiece.

MY VERDICT: Jennifer arrived in nearly head-to-toe Christian Dior–as expected. The Oscar winner hit the red carpet in a black embroidered leather “Miss Dior 1949″ strapless tulle tea-length dress, from the Fall 2013 collection. I had hoped she would wear this silhouette, but the embellishments combined with the fishnet Jennifer Behr voilette headband was a step back from punk. Jen was better off with the smooth solid leather garbage bag design from Fall 2013 that I included in my wish list, I feel like that embodied the theme better. Don’t get me wrong, her dress is quite a stunner and if this had been any other event, I would be gushing over her look–but, it was just the wrong time and place.

In a nutshell: she looked beautiful …just not punk. | continue reading..
