MY VERDICT: Emma Watson was surrounded by her costars from “The Bling Ring” when she won the Trailblazer Awards at the MTV Movie Awards–including Claire Julien. The 17-year-old actress arrived wearing one of the coolest dresses of the night. Claire rocked a shimmering lilac-blue Christian Dior dress, from the Spring 2013 collection designed by new Creative Director Raf Simons. I love the iridescent effect of this asymmetric mini dress, as it definitely looks like water reflecting off sunlight. MY VERDICT: I can easily say that Kelley was one of my favorite dressed ladies on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet this year. The “Pitch Perfect” star exuded spring time beauty in her sunny yellow Contrarian New York halter neck “Hayes” dress that featured a sassy open back. I love the way Kelley enhanced her ensemble with some citrus inspiration with a juicy coral “Lucca” patent clutch by Lauren Merkin that matched her gorgeous LOFT crystal necklace. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Ester opted for pants when she hit the red carpet–and the MTV Movie Awards stage to perform with her “Pitch Perfect” costars. Dressed in head-to-toe black and gold, Ester rocked a “Madonna” graphic long sleeve silk-satin top from the Spring 2013 Givenchy Menswear collection. She partnered the bold top with liquid leather leggings and gold hidden platform sneaker wedges before finishing off with oversize gold hoops and a high braided ponytail. The comfort level of this look was probably pretty high, but for the most part—I like that she kept it cool.

MY VERDICT: Anna sported some spring time style as she supported her “Pitch Perfect” costars. The 30-year-old actress wore a form-fitting white bandage Herve Leger by Max Azria dress, from the Spring 2013 collection. Anna added a fun pop of color to the bright frock by accessorizing with a long coral clutch and matching pointed toe “Elba” pumps by Rupert Sanderson–both complimented her pink nail lacquer. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Amanda was missing on the red carpet, but the “Les Misérables” star took the stage during the show to present an award with Steve Carrell. The 27-year-old actress took baby steps with the popular lace illusion trend by rocking a long-sleeve nude Three Floor mini dress with strategically placed China Blue lace embroidery. Striped panels along the arms, borders and center were lined with black detail.

The dress is also available with black lace, which I prefer, but I think the blue was a better option for Amanda. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: In my opinion, Zoe was one of the best dressed ladies of the night. The MTV Movie Awards are not about glitz and glamour; it’s definitely much more low-key when it comes to dresses on the red carpet. You’re supposed to expect funky playsuits, playful dresses, and a touch of cocktail attire. I love the casual approach Zoe took towards an evening look by selecting this Givenchy Fall 2013 gown, which bursts with edgy femininity by combining a long sleeve black silk top with a full-length floral skirt that features a sexy high side slit and a sheer dotted panel.

Seriously, it’s all about the skirt, and I’m digging how Zoe didn’t try to overpower it by layering up on accessories to create a busy atmosphere up top. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Selena broke out the head-to-toe gold for her arrival at the MTV Movie Awards, which she performed on for the first time to debut her new single “Come and Get It”. The 20-year-old “Spring Breakers” actress highlighted her sun-kissed skin with a long-sleeve illusion net dress by Julian Macdonald that was embroidered with dripping beaded fringe. This micro-mini frock comes from the designer’s Fall 2013 collection. It’s not common that I like a dress more on the red carpet than I did on the runway, but I really feel like Selena enhanced it. The pale metallic actually brightened up against her complexion and dark hair and didn’t look as see-through as it did on the catwalk model. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Let’s face it, Emma Watson looks adorable is just about anything she wears. The “Bling Ring” actress arrived in a black and white cutout halterneck silk-satin cocktail dress from the Fall 2013 collection by Maxime Simoëns, which featured blue and silver x-ray prints along the bust and hem. As far as the transition from runway-to-red carpet goes—I prefer the melt belt on the model as it added a bit of rock ‘n roll edge to the catwalk. I’m a total fan of the lace-up black Proenza Schouler cutout booties she sported, but I was bored with the hairstyle.

Emma looked cute but although the dresses were similar–as far as a cool structure and bold color go, I don’t believe she was able to top the colorful bold pattern that she rocked for MTV last year.

MY VERDICT: Brittany went heavy on the embellishments and short on length when she rocked a midnight blue Lela Rose mini dress at the MTV Movie Awards. The “Pitch Perfect” starlet showed off some leg in the Fall 2013 design, which featured a gathered waist and dazzling beaded embroidery along the shoulders. I really liked the shorter hemline for Brittany as it balanced her figure while perfectly suiting the hip environment. | continue reading..
