MY VERDICT: Oh my mohawk! Just like Hailee Steinfeld, Naomie Harris and Emmy Rossum, “Once Upon a Time” star Jennifer Morrison was clad in a one-of-a-kind dress from Donna Karan Atelier. She wore a reptilian black lace on nude gown with asymmetrical cascading flounce motif on one hip and shoulder with a micro strap detail. I think it’s a beautiful creation, and probably one of the best looks I’ve seen on the actress. The back reminded me of Nina Dobrev’s dress last year.

It didn’t really call out “punk”, but there was still something still rough and sexy about it that captured the theme more than Emmy’s did. When Jennifer styled her long blonde locks into a braided faux hawk with looped edges, it played off the dress rather than being out of place. In a nutshell: punk wasn’t fully there, but it wasn’t non-existent either.

She finished with a black clutch, matching Giuseppe Zanotti platform pumps and custom jewelry by Jherwitt.

MY VERDICT: Naomie Harris has to be one of the most beautiful women in film. The “Skyfall” actress made a grand arrival at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the PUNK: Chaos to Couture gala where she donned a dramatic one-of-a-kind Donna Karan Atelier gown. I loved the use of color here; there were a lot of black and white gowns on the red carpet–and certainly a fair share of tartan, but there was something so unparalleled about these cobalt and violet ombré hues.

Naomie’s pleated silk chiffon dress featured a sweetheart neck and asymmetric straps that transformed on its way down from elegant draping to a show-stopping black ruffled train mixed with silk organza and tulle. MY VERDICT: Hailee was such a punk rock princess at the MET ball this year! The 16-year-old “Romeo and Juliet” actress took a brighter turn with the theme by wearing a pretty one-of-a-kind bone leather corseted dress by Donna Karan Atelier, which featured a crinoline underskirt. The classic tea length design was toughened up with all over sparks of oxidized antique gold safety pins and studs. This was a completely unique way to incorporate one of punks most famous fashion embellishments and have it suit Hailee’s usual ladylike approach to evening wear.

It wasn’t overwhelming, it didn’t stray from the theme, and obviously–it looked great on Hailee. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Emmy was one of the many stars that decided to wear a really beautiful dress and add punk elements in later with hair and makeup. The “Shameless” actress arrived at the gala wearing a stunning one-of-a-kind Donna Karan Atelier platinum embroidered ravished lace gown with silver silk liquid lamé lining.

The v-neck gown was draped with tulle and featured exquisite beaded fringe along the back.

I can honestly say this is one of the nicest dresses I have ever seen Emmy wear, but it wasn’t punk to me. It was actually pretty far from it. It was obvious she tried to make up for the lack of rock influence by opting for structured dramatic eyeshadow and a braided hairstyle. I’m pretty sure she was going for a mohawk, but it would have been cooler if she had done it with buns.

Emmy finished with fishnet nail art, delicate Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, and cool webbed gunmetal jewelry from Irit Design.

MY VERDICT: Bérénice flawlessly flaunted her curves as stepped out on the red carpet this year for the BRIT Awards.  The “Skyfall” actress accentuated her tiny waist in a perfectly fitted silver silk lamé Donna Karan Atelier gown, which featured draping along the bust and waist.  I love the way Bérénice gathered her dark chocolate cascading waves to one side to show off the asymmetric top of the dress with a thin strap that gives way to a sexy open back. As for her makeup, Bérénice kept her lips and cheeks neutral to highlight her intense dark smoky eyes before completing her look with diamond and ruby sapphire jewelry.

WHO: Naya Rivera
WHERE & WHEN: 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 27, 2013.
WEARING: Donna Karan Atelier dress, Stuart Weitzman shoes, Judith Leiber clutch & Neil Lane jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Naya was one of the brightest shining stars at the SAG Awards this year, even though she wore the darkest color.  The 26-year-old “Glee” actress showed off her toned figure and flawless caramel skin in a sexy Donna Karan Atelier silk duchess satin gown, which featured an exposed corset which was surrounded by fanned out accordion pleated detailing.  I’d say out of the few short years her FOX show has been on air, this is probably Naya’s most show-stopping red carpet moment.  With her long dark tresses styled in glamorous curls, Naya completed her look with rosy cheeks, pink lips, and emerald-and-diamond jewelry.

MY VERDICT: So, basically, Sofia Vergara rocked the red carpet wearing a dress that only Sofia Vergara could wear.  The “Modern Family” star joined her cast on stage when they won last night wearing a sexy sleek white gold lamé gown by Donna Karan Atelier, which delicately draped around her famous curves in what the designer dubbed “classic sensual contours”. I can’t say that I’m a fan of the straps, but Sofia is a stunner.  She wore her long brunette locks out in glamorous waves and slipped on a pair of ivory Charlotte Olympia “Daphne” pumps to help complete her look.

I wouldn’t assume that wearing big diamond rings on nearly every finger on one hand would work out, but somehow Sofia is able to do that too—and, I really love her ivory manicure. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Remember when I said that Taylor Swift might want to relax and just enjoy the evening without feeling pressure about what she wore, you know, since the Golden Globes weren’t her usual scene?  There was nothing laid back about her dramatic Donna Karan Atelier gown!  The “Safe & Sound” singer looked very grown up in a custom-made modern dark plum taffeta gown with panels in mesh ombré—from nude to dark plum—that contour the body and travel into an intense mermaid train. This reminds me of something I would have seen Gwyneth Paltrow wear during her “Great Expectations” days.

I wonder if that’s a coincidence.

Additionally, this is one of my favorite dark colors for gowns, and I like that Taylor didn’t wear a color we’re use to to seeing on her; red, white or gold.  She wore her long hair up in a chignon to show off the sexy low-cut back, and while I wasn’t really into the serious hairstyle, I love that she topped it all off with gorgeous matching jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz.

WHO: Morena Baccarin
WHERE & WHEN: 39th Annual People’s Choice Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on January 9, 2013.

MY VERDICT: The “Homeland” star was fashion-forward and outright fabulous in her Donna Karan Atelier jumpsuit. Morena’s sassy one-piece featured a smoky white stone encrusted strapless corset separated by a draped sash that fell over the hip above silk crepe loose pants. Because of the long hem, Morena wore white platform sandals that were both complimenting and non-distracting. She wore her jet black tresses swept back to show off her toned, bare shoulders before finishing off with a raspberry pink lip and diamond cluster ear cuffs.

Morena is also carrying a “Deluxe” clutch in gold, silver and white crystal face by Swarovski.

Now, that’s what I’m talking about!

Are my eyes deceiving me or did Ashley Greene seriously wear a super sexy dress last night for the New York City screening of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″? I almost couldn’t believe that the 25-year-old broke out of her safe fashion rut and into something so completely outside of what we’re use to seeing her in—but, she did and she did it so well.

Ashley arrived on her final “Twilight” black carpet wearing a navy Donna Karan Atelier delicately washed silk, satin-faced georgette corset with mesh insets between the seams and a grosgrain band at the boning; attached to the corset was a floor-length matching navy skirt that’s draped in heavy 4-ply silk crepe. | continue reading..
