Claire Julien in Emilio Pucci | “The Bling Ring” New York Screening

WHO: Claire Julien
WHERE & WHEN: “The Bling Ring” New York Screening on June 11, 2013.
WEARING: Emilio Pucci dress and shoes, Edie Parker clutch.

MY VERDICT: After donning a brightly colored mini dress for the Hollywood premiere, Claire Julien was back on the red carpet for “The Bling Ring” when she attended the New York screening this evening in something much-much lighter. The 17-year-old actress donned a head-to-toe Emilio Pucci ensemble, which included a daring see-through thin white embroidered long sleeve Spring/Summer 2013 mid-length cocktail dress with a nude halterneck slip. Considering the darker slip, this lacked much of the risqué factor from the runway, but it was still quite the risk. | continue reading..

Jennifer Morrison in Kristian Aadnevik | 2013 Billboard Music Awards

WHO: Jennifer Morrison
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Billboard Music Awards on May 19, 2013.
WEARING: Kristian Aadnevik dress, Edie Parker clutch, and jewelry from Amrapali & Le Vian.

MY VERDICT: It was almost as if “Once Upon a Time” star Jennifer Morrison was still riding off of her punked out mood from the MET Gala earlier this month when she turned up at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. The 34-year-old actress stepped out on the blue carpet wearing a very daring dress contraption by Kristian Aadnevik.

Jen wore a racy black bustier corset bodysuit from Aadnevik’s Fall 2013 collection with an attached sheer chiffon floor-length skirt. Due to the barely there fabric, I have no doubt that Jennifer was comfortable in the Las Vegas heat. I know I should probably say that her dress needed to be lined, but I think that would have taken away from the look severely. I only wish that the fabric of the skirt had been a little darker so that it didn’t come off as sheer, because otherwise it’s just one of those things that looks better on the runway. | continue reading..

Kate Beckinsale in Alberta Ferretti | MET Gala 2013

WHO: Kate Beckinsale
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala – PUNK: Chaos to Couture on May 6, 2013.
WEARING: Alberta Ferretti dress, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, Edie Parker clutch & Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Black was the obvious dress color choice for the punk themed MET Ball this year, but Kate Beckinsale opted for red to switch things up a little bit. The 39-year-old actress hit the scarlet carpet for the annual fashion soirée wearing a custom red strapless asymmetrical dress by Alberta Ferretti. I liked the angled drama of the hem and fold over detail at Kate’s waist.

She wore her long hair up in her favorite high-volume ponytail style; it’s something we see from her often, but the ‘do was needed as it showed off Kate’s electric diamond triple arrow statement earrings by Lorraine Schwartz–she also wore a ring to match! Sharp lined smoky eyes, a black Edie Parker “Jean” black box clutch and matching strappy Giuseppe Zanotti completed her look.

There were some rock ‘n roll elements here—zero punk. To be fair, I wouldn’t have expected her to wear a costume either.

Naomie Harris in Donna Karan Atelier | MET Gala 2013

WHO: Naomie Harris
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala – PUNK: Chaos to Couture on May 6, 2013.
WEARING: Donna Karan Atelier dress, Edie Parker clutch & Nola Singer jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Naomie Harris has to be one of the most beautiful women in film. The “Skyfall” actress made a grand arrival at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the PUNK: Chaos to Couture gala where she donned a dramatic one-of-a-kind Donna Karan Atelier gown. I loved the use of color here; there were a lot of black and white gowns on the red carpet–and certainly a fair share of tartan, but there was something so unparalleled about these cobalt and violet ombré hues.

Naomie’s pleated silk chiffon dress featured a sweetheart neck and asymmetric straps that transformed on its way down from elegant draping to a show-stopping black ruffled train mixed with silk organza and tulle. It wasn’t blatantly punk, but you can see the influence breaking through. | continue reading..

Nina Dobrev in Monique Lhuillier | MET Gala 2013

WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala – PUNK: Chaos to Couture on May 6, 2013.
WEARING: Monique Lhuillier jumpsuit, Rupert Sanderson shoes, Edie Parker clutch & Kimberly McDonald jewelry.

MY VERDICT: I was apprehensive as to whether or not Nina could out-do her black and gold gown from last year, but boy was I blown away by the direction she took tonight. The “Vampire Diaries” actress properly balanced punk and glam to live up to the “Chaos to Couture” theme. Nina rocked the red carpet in a custom-made Monique Lhuillier black Chantilly lace molded bustier jumpsuit with black leather harness tulle overskirt with horsehair trim. What a knock-out! | continue reading..

WHO: Naomie Harris
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Monique Lhuillier dress, Stuart Weitzman shoes, a Edie Parker clutch & Nola Singer jewelry.

MY VERDICT:  I loved it!  Naomie looked beautiful in a soft ethereal seafoam gown when she attended the Vanity Fair post-Oscar party this year.  The “Skyfall” star selected her second dress by Monique Lhuillier of the week, this time around it was a lace floor-length asymmetric gown with a draped tulle overlay comes from the designer’s ultra-popular Spring 2013 runway collection.

I adore the way the light color popped off of the English actress’ rich complexion, and the subtle alteration she made to the dress by letting one of the straps loosely fall off her shoulder. | continue reading..

Naomie Harris in Monique Lhuillier | 2013 ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Awards Luncheon

WHO: Naomie Harris
WHERE & WHEN: Women In Film’s 6th Annual Pre-Oscar Cocktail Party on February 22, 2013.
WEARING: Monique Lhuillier dress, Stuart Weitzman shoes & a Edie Parker clutch.

MY VERDICT: Talk about a well put together outfit!  Naomie looked fantastic on the gold carpet for the luncheon wearing an electric printed Monique Lhuillier sleeveless cocktail dress, from the designer’s Resort 2013 collection.  Despite the beauties she has put on the catwalk recently, I’m still so completely in love with this collection that I’m thrilled to still see it making the rounds.  The “Skyfall” actress was a sensational choice for this particular design, which she sharply partnered with Stuart Weitzman “Showbiz” black booties and a vibrant purple “Lara” clutch by Edie Parker. Dazzling earrings, cascading shiny curls, and a ruby manicure completed Naomie’s look. | continue reading..

Morgan Saylor in Naeem Khan | 2013 SAG Awards

WHO: Morgan Saylor
WHERE & WHEN: 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 27, 2013.
WEARING: Naeem Kahn dress, Brian Atwood shoes & a Edie Parker clutch.

MY VERDICT: Morgan was probably one of the most comfortable ladies at the SAG Awards as she was free to move with ease in her short cocktail dress. The 18-year-old “Homeland” star arrived wearing a Naeem Khan dress, from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection.  This a-line design features a subtle bow at the waist to balance out with the bold jewel embellishments all over the front and back of the bodice.  I love that Morgan carried the ruby and lucite end “Lara” clutch by Edie Parker to bring out the red detail in her dress.  She put pretty finishing touches on her look with a smooth up-do, red lips and a pair of platform black satin “Hamper” pumps by Brian Atwood— these heels are a major celeb favorite! | continue reading..

Anne Hathaway in Giambattista Valli Couture | 2013 SAG Awards

WHO: Anne Hathaway
WHERE & WHEN: 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 27, 2013.
WEARING: Giambattista Valli Couture dress, Jimmy Choo shoes, Edie Parker clutch & Kwait jewelry.

MY VERDICT: I had Anne pegged for several column looks this awards season; although I wasn’t wrong about that for the most part, the “Les Misèrables” star still took me back tonight when she arrived at the SAG Awards wearing a frothy Giambattista Valli silk embroidered tulle dress.  This black tea-length design, which comes from the new Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection, features a sleeveless yoke and beaded embellishing beginning at the bust down to the hem of the thigh-reaching lining. This dress is so dramatically beautiful on the runway, but I don’t think it was so much “dark drama” on her, as much as it took on a “vintage Hollywood” effect due to the silhouette and her pixie haircut.  Do you agree?  Do you think it was too much tulle? | continue reading..

Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta | 2013 Golden Globes

Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta | 2013 Golden GlobesPhotos: Zimbio
WHO: Zooey Deschanel
WHERE & WHEN: 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 13, 2013.
WEARING: Oscar de la Renta dress, Casadei shoes, Edie Parker bag & Kwiat jewelry.

MY VERDICT: In true Zooey Deschanel fashion, the “New Girl” star arrived wearing an Oscar de la Renta ball gown completed with wispy bangs and pearls.  She’s has a knack for playing with vintage styles and sometimes infusing her quirky personality into it, which she did tonight with film reel nail art!  Zooey wore a red silk taffeta gown from the designers Pre-Fall 2013 collection, a strapless design with a full skirt that wasn’t presented on the runway.  I like that Zooey sticks to her likes and doesn’t comprise her style; she knows what she’s into and it never comes across as phoney on the red carpet.  I think she looked really nice.
