MY VERDICT: Carey Mulligan may have opted for a softer shade at the premiere of “The Great Gatsby”, but her co-star made an attempt to spice up the red carpet in a gown to match. Isla attended the opening ceremony gala wearing an Oscar de la Renta carnation bouquet lace sweetheart gown with a full ruffled skirt. A similar style was presented during the Bridal 2014 collection by the designer. The dress is fun and it fits Isla very well, but while I don’t dislike it, I guess I was just expecting something really unique and memorable for this particular event. I feel like different versions of this dress have been worn too many times.

Frankly, if it even carried the same full shape of the Bridal line design pictured above, it would have made a bigger impact.

Isla styled her hair in celebrity-favorite cascading waves before finishing her look with gold jewelry from Bulgari. In fact, I think my favorite part of this whole outfit would that stunning 18kt yellow gold statement necklace that’s filled with blue topazes, amethysts, green tourmalines, peridots, citrine quartz, rhodolite garnets and pavé diamonds. Simply breathtaking.

MY VERDICT: Repping the music of “The Great Gatsby”, Florence Welch of the band Florence + the Machine celebrated the premiere of the movie during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony gala tonight in head-to-toe Miu Miu. The “Over the Love” singer hit the red carpet in a pink ensemble Barbie would pass out over from the Fall 2013 collection. The three-quarter sleeve silk taffeta dress features black polka dots and finishes with chantilly lace that stands out against the pastel canvas.

Frankly, a dress this ‘loud’ is a difficult one to pull off for even the biggest fashion overachiever, but leave it up to Florence to take it on anyway. It’s not my cup of tea, and while I want to think of it as a cool option for her–I think this is one of those times redheads should avoid pink. | continue reading..

The biggest fashion event of the year is finally here! The red carpet will be filled with all types of punk rock glam this Monday night for the 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala where your favorite heavy-hitters in fashion, music, film and television will mingle at the stylish fête. Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci will be hosting the VOGUE soirèe that has been officially themed “PUNK: Chaos to Couture” to honor the latest exhibition at the mueseum.

From Gwyneth to Beyonce–Karlie to Joan–and KStew to Rooney Mara–they’ll all be there, and I can’t wait to see who wears what. I certainly have my ideal favorites and predictions, which you’ll find below in my biggest wish list yet! | continue reading..

WHERE & WHEN: 55th Annual Grammy Awards on February 10, 2013.
WEARING: Head-to-toe Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci Fall 2009 Haute Couture.

MY VERDICT: According to Florence + the Machine’s front-woman, you can never have too much green!  The English singer hit the red carpet for the Grammys wearing a custom made Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci poison emerald sequin gown with lizard-inspired spikes along the chest, back, and arms.  A similar high-neck black version was seen on the runway for the Fall 2009 Haute Couture collection.  This dress is insane!  I like the serpent idea, which she complimented with matching snake rings, but I think elements of it made it too busy–especially the matchy-matchy bag and shoes.

To be honest, I like the turtle neck design more.  Florence completed her look with loosely swept up hair and a dark pout.

The 2013 Grammy Awards–aka, the BIGGEST night in music–will soon be underway, and with that major red carpet comes a wish list of what I’d like to see some of your favorite stars of song wearing.  This is the first time I’ve created a list for this particular award show, and I have to say, I was pretty excited for it.  With some music-centered ceremonies, there are a lot of super short party dresses, but I feel like Grammy night leaves more room for glamorous gowns.  Think of it as the Oscars for music.

Maybe some of the ladies will wear something similar or exact to what I envision, or maybe they won’t. 1. Ke$ha

Oh, don’t tell me you’re surprised by this. I like a few of Ke$ha’s songs, and I can appreciate that as a dance artist she likes to take it over the top—but, some things should never be worn together. Over the last twelve months, the “Die Young” singer has worn some absolutely ridiculous get ups. I liked her galaxy blazer she wore during a concert in December and her side braided hair looked cool, and then….everything else happened.

Florence Welch took some time out of touring to help Kate Moss celebrate her new book at the special party hosted by Marc Jacobs at 50 St. James in London on Thursday night, where she wore a brand new dress from his Spring 2013 collection!

The “Spectrum” singer arrived for the celebration wearing a beige and white swirled stripe long sleeved floor-length dress. I was a bit apprehensive about this when I saw it on the runway, but it’s absolutely perfect for Flo! The design is a bit quirky, a lot of fun and totally unique—which sums up a lot of the things the Florence + the Machine front-woman often wears. Personally, I like it more on Florence than I do on the model.

She complimented the dress with a matching leather clutch–in a few shakes darker–and gold nails.

Let’s talk about what a goddess Florence Welch was last night at the annual LACMA Art + Film Gala, shall we?

The soft-spoken Florence + the Machine singer arrived at the fête, this time honoring Ed Ruscha and Stanley Kubrick, while draped in a breath-taking regal violet belted Gucci gown with a plunging v-neckline and billowing sheer Grecian sleeves. Could there be a more perfect dress to compliment her auburn-red locks, fair skin and statuesque figure?

Florence Welch wasn’t at the CFDA/Vogue fashion fund show on Thursday afternoon, but the British singer made sure to make an appearance at the posh dinner to celebrate the finalists and the BFC London show rooms designers at Bouchon in Beverly Hills later than night.

Dressed in Gucci, the Florence + the Machine front-woman wore a beautiful olive-green silk longsleeve dress with a waterfall ruffled tulip skirt, from the Fall 2012 runway collection.

With her long red locks styled in a “Heidi braid” halo, Florence finished off her look with a brown suede shoulder bag with gold tassel and black ankle-bow-strap open toe pumps. I absolutely love with multiple rings and gold talon manicure!

LOVE IT or HATE IT?

As the Florence + the Machine tour moves along, lead singer Florence Welch continues to grace us with one beautiful Gucci look after another. But, you won’t hear me complaining about that.

On Friday, the English alternative band performs at during Day 1 of the 2012 Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas where Flo hit the stage to belt out some hits wearing, yet another, customized version of her favorite Fall/Winter 2012 gown.

Florence wore the ruffle trim long-sleeve silk georgette dress, but with the gorgeous jade green and black floral pattern that was used for a halterneck design during the runway presentation.

She kept the velvet belt, unlike before, and I like that the neckline opening is closed.

What a way to bring a touch of glamour to an outdoor concert festival!

As usual, I loved this on her — especially with her “Heidi braid” hairstyle; a trend that is kind of growing on me.
