MY VERDICT: We’ve seen countless celebrities embrace and promote the midriff trend on the red carpet over the last year, but no one does it quite like Selena Gomez.  The 20-year-old actress attended the SXSW premiere of “Spring Breakers” and showed off her trim figure in a Dolce & Gabbana tropical floral bustier crop top with pale blue cup accents and a matching high-waist orange pencil skirt, both from the Spring 2013 collection.  Sel wore her long brunette locks pulled to the side in full cascading waves and brightened up her pout with a neon coral lip color.

WHO: Anne Hathaway
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party on February 24, 2013.

MY VERDICT: Following her “Best Supporting Actress” win, Anne hit the Vanity Fair post-Oscar party where it appeared that she had parted with her new award long enough to change gowns.  This time around the “Les Misèrables” opted for a custom-made Saint Laurent Paris soft blue column silk-satin gown with a gold sequined halterneck.  Part of me prefers this dress to her earlier pink look; at the same time, after you get passed the neckline it all becomes pretty boring as well.

Anne left her hair, makeup, and jewelry as it was before finishing with custom vegan silver sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti.

MY VERDICT: The rumors were at a high level that Anne was going to wear a Valentino Haute Couture gown to the Oscars this year, in fact, even the fashion house thought so.  As it turns out, the “Les Misèrables” actress hit the red carpet wearing a custom made light pink duchesse satin column gown by Prada.  She mentioned that she only knew what she was going to wear three hours prior to the actual ceremony.  This slim floor-length dress included an open back, with double the crisscrossing detail, and a slit in the skirt.  I prefer the slim cut on Anne, but I wasn’t into this look at all.

I think the best word to describe how I felt was “underwhelmed”.

I’m sure there are a lot of mixed reviews out there, but it just seemed like this was her moment for an unforgettable look…and she played it safe.  Anne finished with a diamond necklace, matching bracelets, a swept pixie, and a light pink pout.

WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.

MY VERDICT: I think I officially saw my favorite look from Jennifer this awards season today.  The “Silver Linings Playbook” actress graced the dark pink carpet at the annual Film Independent Spirit Awards where she donned a black neoprene halter cocktail dress by Lanvin, from the Spring 2013 collection, which features a bow at the waist with a cutout strappy back.  This super sexy LBD was such a stand out on the runway, but I have to say that I’m partial to the silver plated collar on Jen rather than the solid gold version Karlie Kloss donned on the catwalk.

Not only did the dress flatter Jen’s curves, but it was perfectly suited to create a sexy, polished and sophisticated look for the young actress.  Jen has worn a lot of mature dresses lately, but she seems much more comfortable here; finally in her element. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Vanessa provided a much needed burst of color at the Madrid premiere of “Spring Breakers” while her costars Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson kept it classic in head-to-toe black.  The 24-year-old petite actress turned to Julien Macdonald for her dress; a vibrant lipstick red halterneck dress from his Fall 2012 Bespoke collection, which features a sexy high thigh slit and all-over silver crystal and beaded embroidery. I think the embellishing is really cool, and very unique—it almost appears as though she’s wearing a shattered mirror. MY VERDICT: With Oscar night drawing close, Jennifer joined her “Silver Linings Playbook” costars for a special celebration of their nominated film at a soirée hosted by Vanity Fair, Barneys New York and The Weinstein Company in Los Angeles.  The 22-year-old actress played with shape and colorblocking in a white asymmetric strapless folded crepe dress by Roland Mouret, from the Spring 2013 collection, with a black panel at one side.  I like the style of the dress, I just wish someone had smoothed out those wrinkles in the skirt.  Jen completed her look with swept up waves to show off her emerald earrings, a gorgeous black diamond “Jessica Sara” intricate banded ring by Dana Rebecca Designs, and a complimenting pair of black Giuseppe Zanotti ankle strap sandals with metallic trim. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Taylor and Jessie J were matching at the BRIT Awards this year as both opted for black gowns with gold belts; while the English singer turned to a dramatic plunging neck, the “22″ songstress gave us a little leg with strategically placed sheer panels at the maxi skirt of her Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2013 design.  Sheer insets made a reappearance at the shoulders of Taylor’s sleeveless bodice.  Granted, I wish the upper part of the dress fit Tay a little more snug—but, it should go without saying that I loved this. This dress is so unique, and I’m glad that it was worn for a music celebration as it exudes such a cool vibe.

She added a little bronze on her cheeks and lips to compliment all of the metallic elements of the outfit before completing her look with sultry smoky eyes, long lightly waved tresses (still loving those bangs!), and a badass pair of Giuseppe Zanotti black sandals with gold snake detail. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: It was mixture of personalities when it came to the fashion at the French premiere of “Spring Breakers”; while Selena Gomez kept it playful and Ashley Benson opted for sexy drama, Vanessa stepped out for the big night with a very girlie look. The 24-year-old actress wore a strapless pale pink tea-length cocktail dress from the Spring 2013 collection by Rafael Cennamo which featured black beaded rose embroidery along the bust and scattered at the top of the overwhelming full skirt. I personally prefer the floor-length silver and coral version on the model with the wide silver belt, but that length and added accessory would have been even heavier on Vanessa’s petite figure. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Julianne made a smart wardrobe decision, which probably kept her comfortable in the constant winter weather change in New York City this week.  The 24-year-old attended a screening of “Safe Haven” hosted by SELF Magazine, which she covers this month, wearing a Georges Hobeika dove grey floral embroidered cocktail dress layered over matching straight-leg trousers.  This ensemble comes from the designer’s gorgeous new Spring/Summer 2013 Haute Couture collection.  Julianne coordinated with the soft metallic by wearing trendy silver Giuseppe Zanotti pumps.  Flattering makeup, angled wavy tresses, and jewelry from Norman Silverman–including diamond studs–completed her look. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Jordin hit Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammys bash in a sexy ruched silk teal Roberto Cavalli dress with a high slit in the front and a black sequin trim lace panel inset framing the deep v-neckline.  Jennifer Garner wore this to a premiere of “Argo” late last year, but I have to go #TeamJordin on this one.  I’m such a fan of her in this color!  I think the rich blue-green really flatters Jordin’s complexion and raven hair; it’s a dark color that actually brightens up on her.  A low twisted chignon hairstyle let the lace detail take center stage, while the opening in the skirt allowed for Jordin to show off her black strappy Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.  She finished with smoky eyes, onyx drop earrings and a black crystal-encrusted Alexander McQueen Union Jack minaudière. | continue reading..
