Rosemarie DeWitt was amongst the attendees at last night’s star-studded IFP’s 22nd Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City where she wore quite the sassy take on a classic little black dress.

The “Promise Land” actress wore a Monique Lhuillier sleeveless structured black cocktail dress with double slits at skirt and a center panel with a built-in belt filled with a rich burgundy snakeskin pattern. This beautiful design comes from the Spring/Summer 2012 runway collection.

As one of my favorite dresses that Lhuillier collection, I was glad to finally see it on the red carpet—but I was a bit let down by everything but the dress. I wish Rosemarie had done something a little funkier with her hair, and those black patent pumps can not possibly compare with how sexy laced-up sandals look with this dress. I mean, come on now.

She completed her look with a soft make-up palette, a box clutch and gold jewelry.

Allison Williams kept her look very sweet and feminine last night when she attended IFP’s 22nd Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards wearing head-to-toe Valentino.

The “Girls” actress arrived on the red carpet at New York’s Cipriani Wall Street wearing a nude floor-length dress from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection with colorful lace embroidery. This high neck and long-sleeved dress features a mix of pink and ivory floral lace along the shoulders and along the border with some black detail added into the design.

It wasn’t surprising that Marion Cotillard selected another Christian Dior dress for the IFP’s 22nd Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, held last night in New York City, after all–she is the face of the Lady Dior line.

The 37-year-old French actress hit the red carpet at Cipriani Wall Street wearing a midnight navy blue tuxedo tea-length dress from the Fall 2012 Haute-Couture collection, which featured a smooth sleeveless bodice with intensely arched lapels and waist flaps that fell over a layered skirt of petal embroidery.

I wish Marion had wore a different shoe than these black satin pointed toe pumps from the same line, but they were classic and therefore were a go-to staple to finish off the look without fail. She further accessorized with fine Chopard jewelry, including a white diamond collar necklace featuring over 250 diamonds (104 carats) set in platinum and a matching 8ct white diamond cocktail ring set in 18-carat white gold.

This look was complete with light make-up to enhance her natural beauty and a sleek no-fuss ponytail. I’m loving the hair!

Amy Adams worked a sexy asymmetric velvet dress last night when she stepped out on the red carpet at Cipriani Wall Street for the IFP’s 22nd Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City.

The “On The Road” actress bared some skin in a strapless Giorgio Armani cocktail dress; a black crepe and velvet mix, which fell just below her knees as a sharp split angle shot across her left shoulder and layered peplum created a nice curve.

I really loved this dress on Amy, and although I normally would have preferred a sleek sandal or stiletto pump–I really like her black satin “Zenith” pumps by Brian Atwood. | continue reading..

Last week Shailene Woodley attended the 2011 Gotham Independent Film Awards at Cipriani Wall Street; she was a Breakthrough Actor nominee for her role in “The Descendants” but lost to Felicity Jones.

Shailene looked cool and confident in a black suit and white button-down shirt from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection by Dolce&Gabbana.

As with her last look from the brand, this was another winner for Shailene. I’m a self-professed fan of women wearing menswear, therefore I have a soft spot for taking the style to the red carpet. Shailene kept it fresh with grey point toe pumps and pulled her long hair into a side fish tail braid.

Vera Farmiga hit the red carpet last week for the 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards wearing a classic color and a popular fall trend.

The 38-year-old actress arrived at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City for the ceremony donned in a black jacket and silk dress from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection by Calvin Klein. I appreciate changing up the runway look a little bit by pairing the jacket with a different dress, although I’m not sure she picked the right one. The jacket is being forced open at the bust and creating some unsightly bunching.

With that aside, I do love her on-trend velvet platform peep toe pumps. Anyway you can incorporate a little velvet into your look at this time of year is a good thing to me.

Charlize Theron was a vision last night at the 2011 Gotham Independent Film Awards. The “Young Adult” actress arrived at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City wearing a white and black slinky dress from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection by Gucci.

How incredible does she look in this?

I love how the dress hangs from her frame along with all the gold detailing. In addition to the faux belt made of multiple gold chains, Charlize accessorized with layered necklaces that fit perfectly in the extreme plunging neckline. I’m loving the pulls to the halter neck that she left hanging in front!

The dress was heavy and overwhelming on the catwalk model, but it looks like it was made for Charlize’s statuesque curvy figure.

Her short blonde hair was piled up high with a thin black headband keeping it off her face, and she added a burst of color with a shocking fuchsia lip color.

Charlize polished off her look with strappy gold sandals and a black and gold Alexander McQueen skull clutch.

“Breakthrough Actress” winner Felicity Jones accepted the award for her role in “Like Crazy” tonight at the 2011 Gotham Independent Film Awards wearing Proenza Schouler.

The 28-year-old English actress wore a look from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection for the second time, this time she selected the sea-foam sleeveless cocktail dress with a belted waist and button details at the skirt. She was previously seen in a top and skirt from the line earlier this month.

I love the dress, and the color on her. Those subtle little details really catch the eye, such as the peek-a-boo zebra print at the opening of the skirt as well as the slanted — practically hidden — pockets. | continue reading..
