2011 Style Verdicts: Hot Trend – Candy Coated Denim

2011 Style Verdicts: Hot Trend - Candy Coated DenimOne of my favorite trends of 2011, that I hope will carry on into the new year, would definitely be colorful denim! Joe’s Jeans, J Brand, Blank Denim, Ksubi, AG Adriano Goldschmied, and Rag & Bone, were only some of the casual brands that released a wide variety of Crayola-inspired jeans and shorts.

Don’t be afraid to try it! You can instantly brighten up your basics (ie: a solid black top and matching shoes), or you can add some flare by picking a color out of your printed top and selecting a pair of jeans in the same shade. I can’t get enough of it therefore I’ve included some of my favorite looks below.

HILARY DUFF in KSUBI
Before her pregnancy announcement, Hilary Duff was spotted rocking a killer pair of cuffed marigold Ksubi skinnies. She added this massive splash of color to her white tank and matching pumps! I love how she played with different colors by opting for a blush pink Balenciaga bag and a bright red lip. | continue reading..

Sarah Jessica Parker sat down in front of a live audience today in Melbourne, Australia at the Crown Palladium for the VRC Oaks Club Ladies Luncheon where she did a little interview and promoted her movie “I Don’t Know How She Does It”.

SJP wore a sleeveless metallic grey tweed dress with front buttons from the top to bottom from the Fall/Winter 2010 Haute Couture collection by Chanel.

The dress looks great on her, and her black Manolo Blahnik pointed toe pumps compliment quite nicely for the afternoon luncheon.

I can’t get over how crazy the Philip Treacy hat is that she’s wearing. I’m not sure I’d even be able to hold my head up with that thing. It might be lightweight, but it looks extremely heavy. | continue reading..

Sarah Jessica Parker in Prabal Gurung | “I Don’t Know How She Does It” Melbourne Premiere

Even with the plethora of amazing Fall/Winter 2011 and event Resort 2012 looks, the stars just can’t help themselves from digging into the batch of amazing Spring/Summer 2012 designs.

Sarah Jessica Parker hit the red carpet tonight in a metallic purple and white dress from the spring line by Prabal Gurung for the premiere of “I Don’t Know How She Does It” in Melbourne, Australia.

The dress is incredible, it was one of my favorites from the collection, but I hate that SJP’s extra voluminous hair is over-powering it so much. Between the length of the dress and the amount of hair she looks shorter — or is that just me that notices it?

Stepping out of her trusty point-toe Manolo’s, SJP wore black ankle-strap peep toe sandals with a curved metal heel by Raphael Young.

Her shoes perfectly matched her insane Christian Louboutin black leather “Marquise” clutch. The sides are totally embellished with metal spikes and a Swarovski crystals! | continue reading..

Just when you thought Sarah Jessica Parker would be enjoying the holiday season after her international press tour for “I Don’t Know How She Does It”  earlier this fall — here she is  back at work for it.

SJP continued promoting the film in Melbourne, Australia yesterday with a press conference and photocall at the Crown. I think she looked lovely in this Vera Wang yellow psychedelic printed stretch charmeuse dress from Vera’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

This design didn’t make the runway, which is a shame; it probably would have been one of my favorite dresses during the presentation.

I have such a hard time getting into summery prints when it’s so cold outside, but I can’t help loving everything about this dress on her. Aside from the wrinkling, the silhouette is fabulous and the colors are beautifully blended. I adore this print — especially the detail below the drawstring waist. | continue reading..

Taking a break from checking out the new spring 2012 collections for NYFW, Emma Roberts took in a flick. Emma arrived at the premiere of “I Don’t Know How She Does It” wearing a strapless gown by Tibi which she paired with an oversize black clutch and long necklace.

I really love the necklace and how it just stands out against the gorgeous shade of red. I’m also pleased that Emma kept her hair so simple and didn’t wear any other jewelry to add weight to the low-key style.

I’m not a huge fan of the stark black against her with the clutch, but otherwise I love this look. It’s something I would wear and a lot of other women could look at as a key to an evening look without going over the top.

I recognized the dress Jordin Sparks wore to the NY premiere if “I Don’t Know How She Does It” last night before I even realized it was Jordin wearing it.

I guess it’s the animal print lover in me.

Jordin hit the red carpet in a cheetah print knit dress designed by Rachel Roy. There was so much cool going on with this look, it’s so hard for me to dislike animal print…it really is. Unfortunately it’s easy for me to dislike how cheetah print is worn.

I don’t exactly hate the dress on Jordin, I just wish so badly that she had worn black pumps…or ankle boots…or sandals…just something other than nude pumps with this funky dress. The one time an outfit truly calls for black shoes to match detail in the dress and they’re dismissed. Go figure.

Talk about really getting involved with New York Fashion Week!

Sophia Bush selected her red carpet look for the premiere of “I Don’t Know How She Does It” last night by getting her ensemble right off the runway! Sophia wore a gold sequined “Fabrizia” jacket, “Annina” blouse, and “Bonafina” shorts from Nonoo NY‘s spring 2012 collection that they just presented for NYFW.

Sophia added a matching vintage gold necklace by Chanel, an Edie Parker clutch, and a pair of lethal black leather pumps by Casadei that feature a blade heel.

I actually prefer the accessories and look on Sophia than on the model. That’s a rare thing, but leave it up to Soph to pull it off. I don’t know how she does it…no pun intended. ;-)

Last night was the New York premiere of Sarah Jessica Parker’s new film “I Don’t Know How She Does It” and SJP’s co-star Jessica Szohr made a bold gold statement in a long-sleeve embellished metallic dress from Marchesa‘s resort 2012 collection.

I loved the dress on Jessica, especially with her new shoulder length haircut. Her make-up, which featured black rimmed eyes, deep pink cheeks and a lightly polished lip made her features stand out very sharp.

My only problem would have to be the shoes. The suede “Bibi” platform pumps by Christian Louboutin just did not go with this dress. When you have access to beautiful metallic sandals, why would you select a suede pair to go with such a dazzling dress? I’m baffled.

Christina Hendricks in Vivienne Westwood | “I Don’t Know How She Does It” Premiere

Vavoom! Christina Hendricks showcased her natural given assets in this satin asymmetric dress by Vivienne Westwood to the premiere of her movie “I Don’t Know How She Does It” last night in New York.

What is there to say? Christina’s figure definitely defines the word “silhouette” and she gave that Westwood dress the exact physique it called for. Sometimes I get tired of actresses in this style of dress because they often don’t have the curves to truly fill it out. With that said, the shoes could have been better. Not much more to say other than that.

I really, really love the color of Christina’s dress – which is probably what drew her to it to begin with. Unfortunately every photo I find has it looking so brash with her gorgeous red hair. I wonder how much more I would have loved the dress had it been a deep blue.

I guess I’ll never know…

The woman of the night Sarah Jessica Parker hit the red carpet to celebrate the premiere of her latest project “I Don’t Know How She Does It” in a crochet sleeveless black maxi dress by Antonio Berardi.

While the dress was cute and it fit SJP really well, I can not hide my disappointment. After such a stylish European promotional tour for the movie release that had her in a plethora of bright and vibrant looks, I was really expecting her to go all out for the premiere on her own stopping grounds of NYC.

I probably wouldn’t have had a problem with black…but…all black everything? Really? Excuse me while I go wallow.

SJP finished off her look with a Charlotte Olympia clutch and what else? Manolo Blahnik pumps.
