WHERE & WHEN: 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party on March 2, 2014.
WEARING: Head-to-toe Tom Ford.
As hectic as it may have been, it feels like award season simply flew by this year! We’re only a few days away from Oscar night, which means the countdown is almost over until we see some amazing dresses and major wins!
For my annual wish list, I decided to do something a little different. I typically don’t “predict” dresses, I simply include my red carpet wish but I thought I’d give a taste of both this time around. For most of the ladies (nominees and confirmed presenters), I gave an idea of what they *could* wear, along with my pick of what they *should* wear. Living up to that tagline! ^^ | continue reading..
MY VERDICT: I am not too proud to admit that I let out a verbal “oh my gosh” and tweeted my excitement in all caps when Jennifer hit the red carpet tonight for the SAG Awards wearing the Dior Haute Couture dress I’ve wanted her in for months. I am definitely not too proud to gush about it in this post either.
The 23-year-old “American Hustle” nominee looked the best she ever has in a dress from the collection, or the fashion house in general, when she selected the glittering strapless silk column gown from the Fall/Winter 2013 collection–which turns out is not actually purple mixed with navy, but a regal burgundy. | continue reading..
MY VERDICT: You know how there are certain things you simply cannot ‘unsee’? That’s what I’m dealing with right now, after seeing the internet meme of Jennifer’s Golden Globe dress being compared to the beach scene of Ariel in “The Little Mermaid” wearing that makeshift, rope tied sheet dress. See it here.
The 23-year-old actress stepped out on the red carpet at The Beverly Hilton Hotel for the annual ceremony, where she’s nominated her supporting actress role in “American Hustle”, in a Dior Haute Couture off white silk strapless evening dress from the Fall/Winter 2013 collection. | continue reading..
Enter: My annual wish list. This is the first one of the year for me, and I decided to do something a little different. Instead of my usual 3 suggestions, I’ve narrowed it down to one–although I’ve also included many more stars! | continue reading..
Let’s check out the highlights, shall we?
13. JENNIFER LAWRENCE, “THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE” UK PREMIERE
I can appreciate dazzling beaded embellishments being a selling point of a dress, but please tell me how someone looked at Jennifer’s envy-inducing figure and decided to put her in something that’s so ill-fitting. She was trapped in this satiny fabric that pulled and wrinkled in all the wrong places. The fact that it happened was bad enough, but that it happened at the world premiere of “Catching Fire” was just a downright bummer.
12. ANNE HATHAWAY, ACADEMY AWARDS
It might not be the worst thing we saw on the red carpet this year, but those awkward bust point’ and the apron design made it memorable enough that I can’t forget it was a bad choice for Anne to accept her Oscar award in. | continue reading..
MY VERDICT: Due to continued filming of “Mockingjay”, Jennifer was unable to attend the LA screening of “American Hustle”–however, the 23-year-old beauty made a quick stop in NYC for press calls and a special AMPAS screening yesterday.
Earlier today, Jen joined her costars Amy Adams, Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Renner for a photocall at the Crosby Street Hotel where she looked lovely in a cobalt sleeveless Alexander McQueen fit-and-flare dress. | continue reading..
MY VERDICT: After a ridiculously busy press tour for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, Jennifer practically had zero time to recover before she was back out on the promo grind to promote “American Hustle”. The 23-year-old reunited with her costars Jeremy Renner, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and director David O. Russell for a screening with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Academy Members in New York City today where she kept warm (and stylish) in a charcoal grey ensemble. | continue reading..
MY VERDICT: For her final stop on the “Catching Fire” press tour–just in time for Thanksgiving, Jennifer made an appearance on “LIVE! with Kelly and Michael” this morning, following her “GMA” stop, in a funky little coral dress by Marios Schwab.
The 23-year-old selected the structured v-neck dress from the designer’s Resort 2014 collection. It features attached flap short sleeves and a unfinished peplum. I wish we had gotten a proper photo of her standing to see how it it looked on her, because the movement shot doesn’t really do any favors for the fit of the skirt.
Due to that, I’ll just base my feelings on the rest of it–and I love it. Well, not the shoes. | continue reading..
MY VERDICT: With all of the “Catching Fire” premiere events officially completed, Jen spent the remainder of the promotional tour chatting about the second installment of “The Hunger Games” series with a few television appearances. Kicking off her morning, Jen sat down with Robin Roberts at “Good Morning America” where she looked cute in a white Thakoon skirt and top, from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2014 runway collection.
I really liked this on the runway–mostly because of the cropped layer over the long white blouse. | continue reading..
