MY VERDICT: Jennifer brought the MGM Grand house down when she hit the stage to perform her new single “Live It Up” at the Billboard Music Awards. Never one to be boring, JLO arrived to the award ceremony in head-to-toe gold, but performed in all red everything. Taking a look from her music video, Jennifer wore a custom sequin embellished bodysuit with voluminous ostrich feather embroidered sleeves from The Blonds. It may look like she raided Elmo’s closet, but let’s be real–those sleeves certainly brought some power to her dance move extensions.

MY VERDICT: Jennifer Lopez wore head-to-toe gold to the Billboard Music Awards. Naturally. The “Live It Up” singer (which, bee-tee-dubbs, I’ve had that song on repeat all weekend) wowed on-lookers when she hit the blue carpet wearing a Zuhair Murad gold halter gown with a plunging neck and an intricate pattern of hand-beaded feathers that sporadically splatter into a sheer skirt. This daring dress comes from the designer’s Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection.

I wasn’t shocked, but I wasn’t let down either. This is what JLO does—and she does it well. There are few women that I feel could truly pull this gown off but, thankfully, she is one of them. In fact, Jen is the highest on the list.

She wore her long honey-highlighted tresses back off her neck before completing the look with bronze makeup, diamond jewelry, gold Christian Louboutin ankle strap pointed toe pumps, and a matching box clutch.

WEARING: L’Wren Scott dress, Casadei shoes

MY VERDICT: Jennifer kicked off the week in a wild pattern but dialed it back by Wednesday when she stepped out in a little black tuxedo dress by L’Wren Scott for the “Mom + Social” kick-off event. The “Live It Up” singer arrived at the 92Y Tribeca in New York City wearing the sheer yoke figure-hugging cocktail dress, which was originally debuted on the Fall 2012 runway as a silk-satin gown. You may remember previously seeing it on Nicole Kidman at the 2012 Academy Of Country Music Awards.

It may not have been the right dress for Nicole’s event, but it hit high notes for J.Lo. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: JLo brought the drama! Leave it up to Jennifer to hear the words “punk theme” and show up in something that’s not really punk at all–but, will still cause a scene. Oh wait, maybe she actually hit the nail on the head. The “Live It Up” singer arrived wearing a custom black cheetah patterned, sequin-embroidered gown by Michael Kors with long sleeves and a daring open back. I liked the gradient effect of large and smaller embroideries as it showed off Jen’s figure rather than widening it.

MY VERDICT: I’m one of those people who thinks it’s hard for Jennifer Lopez to look bad in anything, but I swear she was testing me at the Grammys this year when she donned this Anthony Vaccarello dress. Staying within the CBS-issued dress code rules that forbid anything too revealing, J.Lo opted for the full-length techno black asymmetric gown from the designer’s Spring 2013 collection.  The upper part was so slouchy, and visible bra molding through a smooth fabric is never a good thing. The silhouette is standard “Grammy uniform”, and therefore I found it anticlimactic. | continue reading..

The 2013 Grammy Awards–aka, the BIGGEST night in music–will soon be underway, and with that major red carpet comes a wish list of what I’d like to see some of your favorite stars of song wearing.  This is the first time I’ve created a list for this particular award show, and I have to say, I was pretty excited for it.  With some music-centered ceremonies, there are a lot of super short party dresses, but I feel like Grammy night leaves more room for glamorous gowns.  Think of it as the Oscars for music.

Maybe some of the ladies will wear something similar or exact to what I envision, or maybe they won’t. MY VERDICT: We got a double dose of Kaufmanfranco beauty yesterday thanks to Taylor Swift’s mini and Jennifer’s super sexy gown.  The 43-year-old singer selected another white ensemble this evening when she rocked the red carpet in Vegas as she premiered “Parker” on the west coast; she’s wearing a Spring 2013 ice sheer paneled backless column floor-length dress. I think many will be talking about this look for awhile, so I’m just going to go on the record by saying she’s one fierce mama.  I really liked her hair too; JLo always looks great with this swept up style and face-framing loose locks.

She finished off her look with a dark Ferragamo clutch, diamond jewelry, and (as always) her makeup looked great.

MY VERDICT: Jennifer may not have any plans to get married anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean she can’t have fun with the Lanvin Bridal collection! The 43-year-old looked incredible on the ruby red carpet last night for the New York City screening of her new film in a beautiful white strapless peplum cocktail dress from the line, which matched her Spring 2013 platform ankle strap pumps.  I’ve been growing tired of the peplum trend, but I obviously put that on hold when I fell in love with this look on her.  I especially love that pretty little bow!  With her honey blonde tresses free falling in loose waves, JLo completed her look with flawless makeup, diamond jewelry from Demarco, and a Tom Ford white minaudière. MY VERDICT: J.Lo hit the red carpet wearing gown to make it appear as though her body was only covered in lace. Are you surprised?  The singer flaunted her famous curves in a long-sleeve silk gown from the Spring 2013 collection by Zuhair Murad, which features an ivory embroidered lace overlay with beading detail. While it may feel like we saw one sheer-and-lace dress right after the other this last year (I’m talking to you, Kristen Stewart), we must remember that Jennifer practically kicked started the trend at the Academy Awards last winter.  I didn’t really liked the sides of the dress because it was mostly bare nude lining, but the front was pretty.  Regardless, she pulls it off—even if I’m bored with the trend. | continue reading..
