Busy Philipps proudly displayed her growing belly in a custom made Gabriela Cadena navy blue long sleeve silk dress.  The “Cougar Town” actress, who recently announced her second pregnancy added some boldness to her look with a colorful one-of-a-kind Irene Neuwirth statement necklace and a matching embellished clutch by Judith Leiber.  A scarlet red lip, gathered mane and Brian Atwood “Stearling” shoes were the finishing touches.

Alexis Bledel like Jessica Pare, the 31-year-old actress also opted to wear a brilliant shade of emerald green at the SAGs this year. I love the color and pleated detailing of her structured Rena Lange dress, and the way her beautiful vintage House of Lavende colorful crystal necklace sat amongst the deep v-neckline. MY VERDICT: With so many blue and black dresses at the SAGs this year, it was nice to see such a vivid purple from this “Modern Family” starlet.  Sarah wore a beautifully patterned Dolce & Gabbana gown, which featured swirling details and frayed elements along the waist and bust.  She kept the look youthful yet elegant with a high ponytail, diamond bow shaped Lorraine Schwartz statement earrings, and some intense smoky violet eyes.  Seriously, those eyes are unreal!  Sarah completed her look with a black clutch and a purple bangle that perfectly matched the shade of her dress.

MY VERDICT: Freida, who was joined by her former “Slumdog Millionaire” costar and real-life love Dev Patel, was a bright spot on the red carpet in her fluro pink Roland Mouret “Barcewell” gown.  I love the bright color and everything about the crepe design from below the black belt, but the neckline was too messy for me.  Freida’s makeup was fine, but her hair was a bit aging.  My favorite part of her look were the accessories;  black ankle cuff Roger Vivier sandals and black diamond Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, which were complimented by her matching Judith Leiber “Ellington” clutch. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: In a sea of embroidery, tulle and navy, Julie Bowen stood out in some edgy black leather!  The “Modern Family” star opted for a plunging neck from Johanna Johnson dress with a full length a-line skirt and cool crystal embellished at the cap sleeves.  I’m so used to seeing Julie wear bright colors and fluid layers that I’m both surprised and kind of excited to see her switch it up. I like that she rocked a high ponytail and some smoky eyes, but didn’t take it to intense levels.  She finished off with a funky pair of strappy Jerome C. WHO: Naya Rivera

MY VERDICT: Naya was one of the brightest shining stars at the SAG Awards this year, even though she wore the darkest color.  The 26-year-old “Glee” actress showed off her toned figure and flawless caramel skin in a sexy Donna Karan Atelier silk duchess satin gown, which featured an exposed corset which was surrounded by fanned out accordion pleated detailing.  I’d say out of the few short years her FOX show has been on air, this is probably Naya’s most show-stopping red carpet moment.  With her long dark tresses styled in glamorous curls, Naya completed her look with rosy cheeks, pink lips, and emerald-and-diamond jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Kaley took a break from pastel colors at the SAG Awards this year and opted for a scarlet red strapless dress from the Spring 2013 collection by Romona Keveza. The ladylike waltz-length design featured all over Soutach lace embroidery and a sculpted bodice. I don’t think there’s any doubt that this is a beautiful dress, but I have to wonder where Kaley’s legs went. I wish the length had been shortened to accommodate her height a little better, because from this head-on angle, all you see are the tips of her toes—she looks so tiny. As for her hair, I dig that she tried to change it up, but I think the blunt bangs might be too heavy for her face shape. Kaley’s makeup gets an A+, and I really liked the accessorizing of delicate diamonds, a ruby embellished gold minaudière and red satin pumps.

MY VERDICT: The “Scandal” star was one of my favorite ladies on the SAG red carpet last night.  Kerry wore a beautiful white silk tulle and silver lace gown by Rodarte, which featured a sharp cut strapless bodice, angled embellishments at the hem, and shimmering Swarovski elements throughout.  I would get married in this.

I’m glad Kerry wore her hair up, even though it’s short and wouldn’t have disturbed the design.  The ponytail and swept bangs provided a clean, elegant effect—and it allowed for her to show off those toned shoulders and gleaming diamond earrings.  Smoky eyes, a nude manicure and a silver Judith Leiber clutch helped Kerry complete this true beauty of a look.

MY VERDICT: With so many head-scratching looks from some normally well-dressed stars this year at the SAG Awards, you don’t know how refreshing it was when Nina stepped out on the red carpet in her pink Elie Saab gown.  The “Vampire Diaries” star looked so statuesque in the short sleeve Spring 2013 crepe gown, which features a crewneck, short sleeves and a skinny leather belt.  The minimal detail is so clean, but those lace panels provide a subtle pop of ladylike beauty to the simple, yet elegant, design.  I had imagined someone else snatching this up, but I’m more than pleased to see that it was Nina who got to wear it. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Ashley looked fabulous last night!  She put on her best party dress (courtesy of Monique Lhuillier), which was a classic short sleeve a-line silhouette with a playful splatter of silver against a beautiful teal base. Is it possible to love a dress so much more off the catwalk than you did when you saw it on the runway? The answer is yes, and this “Revenge” star is proof. She found the perfect black sandals to compliment the skinny belt before completing her look with slightly curled tresses, a hot pink lip, an embellished clutch and sparkling diamond stud earrings. MY VERDICT: Amanda wore such a beautiful color at the PGAs this year.  The “Les Misèrables” star selected one of my favorite looks from Roland Mouret‘s Resort 2013 collection, a vivid orange “Fairlea” cocktail dress with a draped neck, a crisscross open back and black belted waist.  Unfortunately, she failed to bring what I loved so much about it to the red carpet.  The draped effect looked messy and the folded detail at the top of the skirt fell totally flat. The dress was also too long on her; it should’ve hit at the knee, not below.  I hate to be so naggy about it, but it was a bit disappointing to see those details gone. | continue reading..
