WHERE & WHEN: Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala – “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” on May 5, 2014.
WEARING: Marchesa dress, Harry Winston jewelry
MY VERDICT: Karolina took the high glamour theme of this year’s MET Ball and ran with it to the greatest lengths. The 30-year-old model truly stunned on the red carpet in her navy floral asymmetric Marchesa layered gown with an extended skirt and asymmetric cut bodice. This dress is an older design from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection, and it’s one of those looks that I never understood why no one wore it to the Met in the past, or even Cannes. Sometimes a great look is worth waiting for, and Karolina saved it for the perfect night.
Is it over the top? Of course, but it’s a true modern ball gown and it’s the Costume Institute Gala. Go big or go home. For me, this was one of the most memorable dresses of the evening.
Because the dress did most of the talking, Karolina simply wore her long hair pulled back and finished with over $1 million dollars worth of Harry Winston diamonds. Yowza!
