Katherine Heigl was amongst the star-studded 40th AFI Life Achievement Award ceremony, to honor actress Shirley MacLaine at Sony Pictures Studios in California.

The 33-year-old actress arrived on the black carpet wearing a black silk gown from the Fall 2010 collection by Monique Lhuillier, which featured metallic gold embroidered straps that traveled in a snake-like wave down one side of her dress, gathering fabric as it went.
