MY VERDICT: All of these black and white dresses amongst the cast of “The Bling Ring” at their Cannes Film Festival premiere couldn’t just be coincidence. Regardless, every member of the crew looked amazing–including director Sofia Coppola. Dressed in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, Sofia bared some leg in a black embellished three-quarter sleeve shift dress from the Spring 2013 collection with double front patch pockets on both sides. What a cute dress, and I like that it fit longer on Sofia than the model; it made it little more appropriate for the atmosphere.

Loose curls, subtle makeup, a black clutch and matching strappy sandals completed her premiere look.

MY VERDICT: For the photocall to support her new film “The Bling Ring”, Sofia Coppola kept her look casual with a touch of nautical influence. The director wore a black and white gingham Louis Vuitton short sleeve blouse with an attached loose black necktie and center placket. Sofia loosely tucked the top into straight leg black trousers and finished with a pair of strappy leather low-heeled ankle strap sandals.

She looked comfortable, and although the shirt could be tidied up a bit, it was still a well put together outfit. Sofia’s hair looked stylish in natural waves and she wore just enough makeup. A pop of color was, perhaps, unintentionally welcomed into her look with a matching coral manicure and pedicure. That’s my favorite nail color of the spring season.

WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013.

MY VERDICT: One of the great things about the Cannes Film Festival is that you can always expect to see a variety of glamorous fashion moments from Fan Bingbing. The Chinese actress was on-hand for the opening ceremony premiere of “The Great Gatsby” where she wore a Louis Vuitton rose silk jacquard paisley strapless gown; the upper portion of the bustier is beautifully embroidered with sequins in degradé. This is a non-presented design from the Fall/Winter 2013-2014 collection.

The dress is beautiful, and it suited Fan without a doubt. Despite the rainy weather, Fan’s cascading jet black tresses were picture perfect in sculpted Veronica Lake-inspired waves. She finished off with cat-lined eyes, diamond jewelry from Chopard–including rose cut diamond drop earrings and a fancy cut white diamond bracelet, and a Louis Vuitton gold tassel minaudière.

WHO: Reese Witherspoon
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.

MY VERDICT: Reese was one of the style highlights at the Oscars this year, for me at least.  The “Mud” actress was working that old Hollywood glamour angle when she arrived wearing a gorgeous custom Louis Vuitton Klein blue silk faille strapless corset gown, with black contrast trim, a bow signature on the neckline, and a modern bustle and train.  The beautiful bold dress was carefully created in the atelier in Paris, and was so obviously fit to perfection. WHERE & WHEN: “Escape From Planet Earth” Los Angeles premiere on February 2, 2013.

MY VERDICT:  Intentional or not, Jessica celebrated the romantic month of February when she stepped out on the blue carpet for the Hollywood premiere of “Escape From Planet Earth” wearing a black and red lace dress.  The 31-year-old actress turned to the Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2013 collection for her a-line ruby satin cocktail dress with all over black floral embroidery.  She kept the look appropriate for the winter season by pairing it with opaque tights and black Louis Vuitton pumps.  The gold embellished cap toes kept her shoes from getting totally lost with the closely-matching tights. | continue reading..

WHERE & WHEN: 24th Annual Producers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills on January 26, 2013.

MY VERDICT: After taking such chances on the red carpet recently for the “Django Unchained” press tour, I was a bit surprised to see Kerry play it safe in this Marchesa lace bustier cocktail dress. It looks great on her, no doubt, but you can bet I’m hoping for something really exciting at the SAG Awards tonight. I like how Kerry incorporated a deep pink into her outfit with this clutch that matched her lip color.  Predictable pumps and a flirty wavy mane completed her PGA look.

WHERE & WHEN: “Very Good Girls” 2013 Sundance Film Festival Premiere on January 22, 2013.
WEARING: Miu Miu top, Louis Vuitton skirt, Azzedine Alaïa shoes & Cartier jewelry.

MY VERDICT: It was so great to see Dakota back out on the red (err–brown) carpet!  We haven’t seen a lot of her at major events lately as she’s been going to school and filming movies, but she was able to make it out to Sundance this year to support her film “Very Good Girls” and wore a very good outfit.  I adore her navy ribbed crewneck Miu Miu crop top that she so wisely paired with a Louis Vuitton short black skirt with navy baroque embroidery, which comes from the brand spanking new Pre-Fall 2013 collection.

It’s such a pretty skirt, but the top, sheer black tights and mesh inset Azzedine Alaïa hidden platform booties definitely toughened it up to a cool youthful look with some edge.  | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Rachel and her husband Daniel Craig complimented each other in black ensembles at the Golden Globes this year.  The “Oz: The Great and Powerful” actress wore a sweet Louis Vuitton black silk dress, which featured a sheer polka dot yoke and a matching skirt that began mid-thigh. If it were not for the sheer aspects of this, it would have simply been a strapless LBD with a satin bow at the belt, and we couldn’t have that. The see-through detail of the skirt allowed for us to get a good view of Rachel’s platform Jimmy Choo “Raven” suede sandals. She completed her look with a full side-parted mane of shiny big curls. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: I was very apprehensive about how the vivid checkered pattern in the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 collection would translate on the red carpet, and yet I’ve continued to be pleasantly surprised by how much I’ve been loving it on everyone lately.  Kristen Stewart was the first to wear something from it—a playsuit, but since then Bérénice Bejo, Hailee Steinfeld, and now Kerry have jumped on the boxed-out-band-wagon… and I totally dig it! | continue reading..
