WHERE & WHEN: 3rd Annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards on June 10, 2013.
WEARING: Nina Ricci dress, Manolo Blahnik shoes & a Jason Wu clutch.
MY VERDICT: I wouldn’t say that I ever disliked floral patterns, but I have to say that I have a new appreciation for them this season. I’m all about a pretty botanical print–especially if there’s something really unique about it. Sarah Jessica Parker wore this lovely sweetheart cap sleeve midi-length micro floral printed Zac Posen dress to the Alliance For Young Artists & Writers Benefit.
The Spring 2013 lightweight design features delicate chiffon panels at the skirt. I really like the dress on her, but was there no one around to help her with that wonky sleeve before this photo was taken? | continue reading..
MY VERDICT: For only one day in Cannes, Jennifer Lawrence sure knows how to stylishly fill a few hours. The “Hunger Games” starlet hit the black carpet for a party to celebrate “Catching Fire”—the second installment of the movie series, where she rocked her third Christian Dior outfit! After going heavy with black for the previous two looks, Jen beautifully brightened up in a off white twill bustier cocktail dress from the Fall 2013 collection with a colorful Warhol “Femme Head 1958″ printed along the extended asymmetric panel of the skirt.
MY VERDICT: We’re still about six months away from the theatrical release of “Catching Fire”, the second installment of “The Hunger Games” series, but we got our first taste of Jennifer Lawrence’s press tour style when she hit the Cannes Film Festival with her costars for an early press event and photocall. The 22-year-old face of the “Miss Dior” handbag line was dressed in one of the latest looks from Christian Dior, naturally.
Jen wore a fun black wool crochet bustier with exaggerated ruffles that was partnered with black wool pants, from the Fall 2013 collection, which she brightened up with a splash of color on her feet. I love the easiness of this outfit; she’s on the French Riviera doing daytime press and wants to be comfortable, but also elegant without losing her youthful attitude. I think Jennifer nailed it. | continue reading..
MY VERDICT: Nazneen stepped out on the silver carpet in a bright orange dress for the Hollywood premiere of her new movie “Star Trek Into Darkness”. The 30-year-old actress glowed in the deep v-neck floor-length silk dress from the Spring 2013 collection of Zac Posen’s diffusion line, originally called Z Spoke. I love the color of the dress as well as the semi-sheer panels at the bottom, but more than that, I’m happy Nazneen opted for gold Manolo Blahnik sandals instead of sticking with a common black or nude pump. Subtle makeup, complimenting gold jewelry and a long side braid completed her look.
MY VERDICT: Rihanna looked red-hot in her custom Azzedine Alaïa gown! Here I was expecting her to break out something really edgy that pushed the envelope, but I should know to never expect what she’s going to do—because she’ll do the opposite. The “Stay” singer took a more glamorous approach to the Grammy red carpet in the gorgeous sheer paprika silk gown with paneling at the bodice. I can tell that she made an attempt to stay within the dress code guidelines by covering up, but the fabric was still too thin at the bust and it left little to the imagination. She coordinated her lipstick and nail polish with the color of her gown, before finishing the look with some beautiful cascading curls and kohl cat-eye liner to further intensify her bright eyes.
In my opinion, dress code violation or not, Riri was still one of the best dressed women of the night.
MY VERDICT: There were so many blue dresses worn on the red carpet last night, and they were all so beautiful! Nicole, in particular, stood out to me in her striking (and sparkling) Vivienne Westwood Couture navy and black embroidered Marlene gown with floral appliqués all over. I love this streamlined silhouette, the mesh yoke and scattered embroidery, and the intense scallop trim slit to show off her classic Manolo Blahnik black strappy “Chaos” sandals. A super sleek mane and Fred Leighton emerald statement earrings helped the star pull off a flawless look. She was a clear favorite of mine. | continue reading..
MY VERDICT: A statuesque Nicole brought some drama to the red carpet tonight in a black crepe Alexander McQueen gown, from the Spring 2013 collection, which featured gold bead embroidery at the neck and a lace inset at the waist. I’ve grown so use to seeing the 45-year-old actress stick with the same select designers, that I wasn’t prepared for this moment. That being said, I really liked this dress on her. Nicole does sleek so well. Her mixture of black and gold Fred Leighton jewelry was an eclectic group that fit the theme of her look, and while I dig her new short hair length, the style was too elegant for dress with some edge.
The 36-year-old actress passed on a predictable party dress, or skinny pants, and opted for the Altuzarra “Roy” peplum dress—from Joseph Altuzarra’s Fall 2012 runway collection ($1,374, bergdorfgoodman.com). The structured top part of the dress is designed with long sleeves, a gold button adorned placket and a draped, tailored pleated peplum that falls in a split at the hips. | continue reading..
The 24-year-old “Diamonds” singer arrived on the dark carpet wearing a leather Damir Doma short sleeve raglan tee and matching long shorts with a drawstring waist, both from the Fall 2012 collection. After closely paying attention to this photo of Rihanna, I’ve come to the conclusion that I like the look from the neck to the ankles—which, obviously, means I just like the top and shorts. I think the cool, yet edgy and kinda/sorta laid-back vibe works for Riri. | continue reading..
