The eye-glasses wearing “Hope Springs” actress kept it simple for the low-key awards gala wearing a “Elegante” nude long sleeve dress by MaxMara, who sponsored the soirèe.

Meryl Streep hit the black carpet on Thursday night to celebrate the 40th AFI Life Achievement Award soirèe, which honored legendary actress Shirley MacLaine.

The 62-year-old Oscar winner wore a Valentino gown from the Spring 2012 haute couture collection, with an ivory lace shirt blouse and a full pink and white floral skirt.

I’ve found this whole collection to be very feminine, but also mature and haven’t really gotten on board with any of the young starlets wearing it on the red carpet. Taking home the award for “Best Actress” for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady”, Meryl hit the red carpet in an off-the-shoulder navy blue printed dress with lively floral prints.

Meryl Streep took her critically-acclaimed film “The Iron Lady” to the UK on Wednesday with a blue carpet premiere at the BFI Southbank in London.

In the film Meryl stars as Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Her British fans greeted her as she arrived wearing a black silk-chiffon v-neck dress from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection by Stella McCartney. It appears that the neckline on her dress was closed a bit more and the sleeves were also tapered.

Last night Meryl Streep stepped out on the red carpet at the Ziegfeld Theatre for the New York City premiere of “The Iron Lady”, a thrilling film in which she stars as Margaret Thatcher — former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Meryl kept warm in a deep blue silk pleated plissé blouse from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection by Stella McCartney that she paired with a calf-length black skirt. I’m so happy that she defined her silhouette by cinching her waist with a belt rather than tucking the blouse in, although it’s not-so-great that you see totally see her bra through the semi-sheer top. A camisole was definitely needed.

She kept up her dark toned theme with black stockings that were sheer enough to showcase her Salvatore Ferragamo open-toe sandals with a thin ankle strap. | continue reading..
