With an event presented by Gucci, it was a no-brainer that most of the guests at the 2012 LACMA Art + Film Gala on Saturday would be clad in head-to-toe looks from the beloved fashion label. The stars came out to celebrate an evening of creativity while honoring famed artist Ed Ruscha and the late-great director and producer, Mr. Stanley Kubrick.

Amber Heard rocked a black short cocktail dress and matching triple strap peep toe pumps, and while that sounds like a possible boring look on paper–there was nothing ordinary about the whimsical black-and-gold embellished collar, which took Amber’s chic look to another level. She finished off with a twisted up-do and a poppy red lip that matched her nail polish.

Amy Adams wore a beautiful strapless silk yellow gown with a embellished belt. Like with Cameron Diaz–I believe a green, pink or blue dress from the Spring 2013 collection would have been a more flattering color for Amy. Looking lovely in a white lace Zac Posen dress, Minka left her honey-highlighted tresses out and wavy and accessorized with jewelry from Le Vian.

I usually like Minka Kelly’s red carpet appearances, but I couldn’t get on board with her outfit for the Valentino 50th Anniversary and Rodeo Drive flagship store opening Tuesday night in Beverly Hills.

The former “Friday Night Lights” actress wore a pretty shimmery lace long-sleeve beige dress, but that wasn’t the problem.

Sure, Minka has gorgeous long dark ombré hair, but I wish she had done more with it than letting it look like it was just brushed flat. I also wish she had put a bit more effort into the shoes.

As for her make-up? Beautiful smokey eyes!

This year marks the 10th anniversary of The Heart Truth — the amazing campaign which raises awareness about heart disease in women. The American Heart Association and all of the research and campaigns involved with raising awareness of heart disease is something that holds a strong importance in my own heart.

Last night, to the kick off the New York Fall 2012 Fashion Week, the Hammerstein Ballroom played host to the annual Red Dress Collection Fashion Show put on by The Heart Truth and sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company.

Minka Kelly arrived on the black carpet last night at the Chateau Marmont to celebrate GQ’s annual “Men of the Year” party in a dress from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection by Versus.

She selected Look 13, a lilac short sleeve dress that featured white prints and black details, including zipped pockets on both hips. I like the design, but it’s such a tame form of a cocktail dress.

Minka is all glam with pretty make-up and voluminous wavy hair, yet she’s wearing this sporty dress to a GQ party. This was a dress that called for a ponytail, if there ever was one.

Just like red, blue was another popular gown choice tonight. First up is “Glee” actress Dianna Agron who surprised me wearing the sapphire silk-satin “Skylark” gown from Roksanda Ilincic‘s fall 2011 collection. The color was gorgeous, but I can’t help feeling like the gown was “too old” for Dianna. I would have preferred this dress on someone else.

Oh my, my. Emily Blunt might just be my big blue winner of the night because not only did she select an Elie Saab fall 2011 haute couture gown, she wore my favorite one from the collection. The midnight blue embroidered tulle gown with an embellished waist and dangerously cut neckline was breath-taking. It doesn’t even matter if she had skipped hair and make-up completely (which she thankfully didn’t) because that dress saves all.

Claire Danes looked gorgeous tonight in a blue georgette strapless sequin embroidered gown from Oscar de la Renta‘s resort 2012 collection. I love how the sequins are designed in this dress to almost look like shattering glass and as with Emily, Claire wore my favorite look from that collection. I wish you could see the cool satin platform Barbara Bui sandals Claire was wearing under all that pretty.

I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only one waiting to see what Katie Holmes would wear on the red carpet tonight, I’m also sure I wasn’t the only one not shocked by the fact that she not only worn a solid color silk dress. Katie kept it simple in a Calvin Klein Collection cobalt gown with a silver thin belt. It wasn’t a stand-out look but I thought it suited Katie very well – simple and classy. Katie left her hair up in a high bun and wore a pair of Pierre Hardy sandals. | continue reading..
